I know, right?! And it’s not like all these people have jobs in the music industry, right? I was under the impression that they’re all normal people, sometimes students even? I have no idea how people go about doing that (not that I would ever want to, but I’m so curious because this happens all the time with Lana’s catalogue)!

I think BoZ on ATRL was the only person who people knew had info on the album, and they started talking about it in mid-July (I believe on July 25 they revealed it was in the process of being mastered?) And then I guess once the masters were done (around September) the other few people somehow got ahold of the record. Like you said, it’s all hearsay to us
-
Omg thank you for letting me know legend! Doing the lord’s work for us all It’s always cool to know a little bit more about her process for the records and what songs didn’t make the cut, but at the end of the day, we’re getting the album the way Lana intended so that’s what matters (and I say that because all of this conflicting information makes it so hard to discern what the truth is )!
-
Yes, I’m confused about that, especially since @new gods let me know that apparently people are now insisting they did have Yosemite with that batch, when a few months ago they didn’t. I don’t know what the truth is, I feel like a lot of it is just hearsay unfortunately. But based on this new information, I guess we can conclude that people got the album in September and it had 12 songs, and the final tracklist only having 11 means it’s clear that Dealer was the only song that didn’t make the final cut!

So I’ve read on here that apparently the version of Chemtrails that the 5 people somehow got ahold of didn’t have Yosemite but had Dealer. I was wondering if maybe that was because Yosemite had been mastered in 2017 for LFL so that final mix/master was done, so it didn’t need to be resubmitted with the rest of the songs on the album (and Dealer was mastered but was just left off in the end, like Yosemite was in 2017)?

Of course!!! <3 and yes, we love our debt-paying debutante And me too - I wish her interviews at this event were released in full because it seems like she had a lot of interesting things to say about the scientists being honoured and about her own work! Since this interview took place in November 2018, a whole 8 months before NFR even came out, I wonder if this was when she was in the early stages of journaling White Dress? Maybe it was a song she lyrically pieced together slowly, like Hope is a Dangerous Thing! I feel like it’s quite possible that that was what made her feel like a God - she even said in the Mojo interview that she enjoys getting back into service so maybe being a waitress is one of the things that put her into that spot of this serving, benevolent figure who was “everybody’s favourite waitress”? Certainly the “favourite” part would contrast what the general public/media had done to her in her early career and especially this year so maybe she’s really going to explore that? And I miss you too! You’re always the best, ilysm, I feel like it’s been a while!

I also feel like it hasn’t been that uncommon for Lana to put outtakes/old songs from the last few records just as they are or reworked (like Yosemite, TNBAR, and California being songs that were meant for other projects appearing on her most recent records) so it’s not totally off the table for Dealer to be on the next album, especially since the song was done between the last finished songs for Chemtrails and her 2 cover albums with Zach, who seems to be producing this next album!
-
Yesss exactly! And like, 95% of the interviews for NFR took place on August 28th and were just released that week so I could see her doing everything during the release week! I don’t necessarily think her visuals not always being consistent between album covers negates the nature of her releases (like her always having pre-release singles, videos, album trailers, etc.), though! I get what you’re saying but I also feel there are certain things that are just part of her business plan!

I haven’t written a “let’s predict Lana’s schedule for this album!1!!1” post in so long (and let’s face it, we can never really guess what will happen and when it will happen) but I got to thinking that I thought; The Honeymoon sampler/trailer was released on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, with Music to Watch Boys to coming out on Friday, September 11, 2015 and the album coming out on Friday, September 18, 2015. What if... The Chemtrails sampler/trailer was released on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, with White Dress coming out on Friday, March 12, 2021, and of course, as we know, the whole album coming out on Friday, March 19, 2021? I have no reasoning other than the nature of a preceding release and the fact that White Dress’s alleged original release date was exactly a week before the album’s alleged original release date (February 26-March 5; March 12-March 19). Time will tell!

I think if there even is an album trailer, it could come out at literally any point within the next 2 weeks. The Honeymoon sampler was only uploaded to YouTube 10 days before Honeymoon came out! The UV trailer, if I remember correctly, was made available to people upon pre-ordering the album from her site in May 2014, but was then uploaded to YouTube for everyone to see on the day of the release in North America. I feel like there will be one! I didn’t expect Norman to have one and I was totally surprised when she put it out on August 1st 2019, and literally every album of hers since Paradise has had one - it’s tradition at this point!

Yesterday! “Promiscuous” is definitely a nostalgic song for me from the early 2000s! When was the last time you read a book?

Where's that energy we had back in June, July, August, and September? I feel like we all need to be reminded of how much fun we had getting up to various antics, such as analyzing the source code of her website (and finding nothing), making album cover/tracklist/vinyl concepts, discussing what the 'chemtrails' will symbolize, theorizing how Chemtrails and Behind the Iron Gates would be connected to each other, contacting so many different retailers and making frenemies like Shanice and Shanique... That was the Golden Age of this pre-release and as far as I'm concerned, we're still in the pre-release! Let's look back on the fun we had leading up to this record's release and reinject that energy into this thread! 14 days!

I get that! I personally love LMLYLAW, and I love folk/country music so I get the personal taste coming into play here, but in terms of the excitement - I think these times are just weird in general and so everyone’s feeling a bit wonky about everything right now. I wrote something on the last page about how we’re feeling and maybe Lana is feeling that right now too. I don’t want to put words in her mouth either, but I feel like she’s said in her own way, that, like all of us, she’s been affected by this pandemic. We know Lana is quite perceptive and really responds to her environment so maybe there are things that are affecting how she’s doing things in her life, namely navigating this album campaign. It probably feels a bit treacherous to do things when the public has tore you to shreds. I understand everyone’s concerns and hopefully that passion and excitement is reinvigorated as we get closer to the 19th! <3

Of course, bestie! <3 Me too - especially after all the craziness of this past year, it’s going to feel so good to reintroduce something new into our lives! I love the idea of growing with music and inspiring change as a new album is released, especially when it’s an artist I love as much as Lana!! The fact that we’re less than 2 weeks away just has me feeling like I’m on the edge of something exciting coming my way and hopefully everyone reading this is able to find that in their lives too! We got this @LanaBoards ! <3

This! <3 I also am surprised reading some comments here because I don’t think this perceived-lack-of-activity is irregular for Lana? It’s always been about the music and she’s always just put stuff out as she wants to without explaining it too much or getting too caught up in the “glossier” aspects of being a musician.

I’m obviously excited for the album, but I don’t think a lot of us feel the same sort of momentum building up as we did with previous releases, and I think that has to do with this pandemic to be honest. I know I’ve mentioned how it has affected our lives in this thread a lot, but I think it’s true. We’re probably used to living our very-real-lives in between Lana’s deliverance of album-related news, tidbits, etc. Our face-to-face micro-interactions can inform so much of our inner dialogue, which ultimately affects the way we anticipate events in our life (like for example, I’m sure we mentioned briefly in passing how excited we were about Norman or Lust for Life to our friends, family, colleagues, etc.) and so I think this weird stagnant period in the status quo has really seen us fixated on Chemtrails as this “beacon” of sorts for the last 10 months - more so than we ever did with her past records. For a lot of us, our lives have migrated to a remote, online model and so when you think about it, it feels like there haven’t been any significant developments in our lives and we’ve been looking forward to the same things as we know them for basically an entire year. Funnily enough, despite Chemtrails being mostly done before this pandemic, I think it will explore what I’ve detailed up here - hopefully we’ll feel comforted by Lana during these times. Her affirmations for normalcy on the title track have certainly made me feel less alone in my navigation of the future during these daunting, unprecedented times!
