Blue Banisters is my least favorite Lana album and Ocean Blvd made me realize that even more, but here is my song ranking split into tiers (songs per tier sorted in no particular order): Tier 1 (favs) Black Bathing Suit, Dealer, Thunder, Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend Tier 2 (good songs) If You Lie Down With Me, Cherry Blossom Tier 3 (duds) Blue Banisters, Arcadia, Sweet Carolina, Text Book, Wildflower Wildfire Tier 5 (HATE) Beautiful, Violets for Roses -
Been reading some reviews out of curiosity and some of these are so lazily written It reminds me of how I used to make shit up for my book reports in school after reading a quick summary online. The last one I read mixed up a Summertime Sadness lyric with a Video Game one and the one before that got Violet's title wrong too like were they in a rush or smthn...

I’m so glad she isn’t sacrificing anything for critical acclaim. NFR’s one of my fav albums but it’s hands down her safest album too. It’s very easy for critics to love. Ocean Blvd is more daring and unconventional with moments like the second part of A&W, Fingertips and Peppers that lead to split opinions. It’s way more interesting to me. I love when she experiments and doesn’t keep it safe lyrically and sonically, but that’ll always be hit or miss with critics.
