  1. careful now... you don't want to repeat the incident from the pre-release thread where someone called Playboi Carti a monkey as a joke* (*according to them) which caused a shitload amount of drama, now do you?

    Fan Art by jvcx

SDCC was last weekend and apparently there's a Harley Quinn vs. The Joker film in the works - now I'm a DC fan and even a bigger fan of Harley, Margot and Suicide Squad, so I was already way too excited for the upcoming Gotham City Sirens film and now it's getting even better with Harley standing up against Mr. J. I was bored last night so I did a few posters while listening to Lust for Life and here's one of them, enjoy! I've made lots of posters before and this just might be one of the very best.
  6. The cover is stunning and a 20-minute video interview? WTH YES. Adidas should just do H&M x Lana 2012
  7. You probably know this already but quite often these people who queue early on keep a list of people who come and each one gets a number so they don't have to stand in the line for the whole day and can go grab food etc. nearby. However I wouldn't rely on them too much unless you make sure the list arrangement is fine with the staff/security of the venue, at my show whoever was in charge of the system hadn't talked to them and they weren't okay with it so it didn't work out and it caused some drama Good thing for me tho because I arrived at 10AM and was number #100 in the line, and thanks to the whole thing going down I got closer than I probably would have otherwise
  8. Maybe a small one yeah but I doubt she'll take it to Paradise-like proportions (about 96 dates right?)... since Stevie asked Lana to open for her on her tour but Lana didn't want to do "like 60 shows".
  9. Same, there's no reason for me to even check these post-release threads when it's mostly about people's first hype already calming down and them being now more than ever focused on bashing the tracks they don't like etc. and other people getting triggered by their opinions. The news we'll get from now on can already be found elsewhere since for now it's just these random ass shows I don't even care about. So yeah I also just come to check this thread every now and then when I'm bored but I never go back more than 2 pages
  10. Isn't the part about Australia being known for kangaroos for example completely true though

    Last thing you bought

I've loved Keeping Up Appearances ever since I was a kid, I'm not really into British sitcoms (or sitcoms at all) but Absolutely Fabulous and Keeping Up Appearances are iconic, I never get tired of watching them. They're currently doing reruns of KUA over here and every saturday is the highlight of the week for me when another episode airs. Yas @ Amazon coming thru, I got this box set new and with shipping just 20€

  14. boy do you really think I'm that stupid, I'm just saying I don't understand why y'all even give a fuck what some guy on YouTube says when his and your opinion on the record (should) have zero correlation. Same thing with obsessing over chart positions and such, just enjoy the record, if it flops it flops.
  15. Girls, in the end the only opinion that really should matter to you is your own.
  16. Born to Die is one of those few albums that have changed my life in a way. I fell quickly in love with it and to this date it's still dominating my statistics on my most played albums along with Paradise. I played the shit out of them back in the day, and I adored and I love them both so freaking much. However Ultraviolence is my favorite record by far, I'm not gonna write an essay about it so I'm gonna keep it short and just say that lol. I loved Honeymoon when it came out but I forgot about it a couple of months after, it aged somewhat quickly and I don't really listen to it in full either - however when I do, I realize it's actually better than people like to think and I'd put it on the 3rd place along with Born to Die. By now I've listened through Lust for Life so many times already that I can say it's my 2nd favorite at the moment, might change as time passes but with my Lana taste being what it is these days I doubt BTD/HM/Paradise will top it. I love all of her albums but for me it's 1. Ultraviolence 2. Lust for Life 3. Born to Die/Honeymoon 4. Paradise
  17. Yeah, the stage being quite high is definitely a minus. So it's kind of comforting knowing that being a bit in the back you can actually see her, but then again she comes down so idk. The chances of me getting in the front are quite small so I probably shouldn't even worry about not being able to see her lol Girl don't jinx it!

    Heroin

Exactly! I got interested in the Manson Family murders again just a while ago and the first time I read the lyrics the possible references got most of my attention, since I'm interested in these kind of home invasion/cult murder cases. Even with the references the lyrics aren't very clear though, so I interpret the story in multiple fictional ways. a) She's singing about her more or less recent personal loss, possibly an overdose, and as her world is fucked up and dark she dreams of heroin, possibly to escape the reality or even to reunite with whoever she has lost. "Manson's in the air and all my friends have come 'cause they still feel him here" is her being surrounded by people who might relate to Manson's agenda and look up to him in a way, since some people still consider themselves as members of the Family. She could be singing about how uncomfortable she feels around the people she's surrounded by and wants to escape their darkness as well. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of it." Or she could be dropping these references just for the sake of making the story more twisted and interesting. b) The lyrics take place in an alternative time frame in the late 60's, she's both in mourning and surrounded by people who are identifying themselves as members of the Family. She could be telling her story from within or without the Family, as she recognizes "these kids going crazy" and "writing in blood on my walls and shit" - the lines about dreaming heroin and "lying if I said I wasn't sick of it" could indicate that she's part of the Family, as a majority of them - if not all, I'm not 100% sure on this - used lots of (heavy) drugs. She's a member of the cult/commune, is sick of it and wants to escape the reality, in terms of doing heroin or possibly even an overdose so she'd be done with them for good and reunite with her loved one. c) Hell, if you let your imagination wander around it could even be reverse Roman Polański/Sharon Tate; she's lost her loved one because of the Manson Family ("writing in blood on my walls and shit") and she's wondering what led these kids into doing something so horrible and possibly some of her friends being part of it. "I put you on an aeroplane destined for a foreign land, I thought that you'd come back again to tell me everything's okay" is about her burying his loved one and dreaming he'd come back, but eventually she realizes he's not and therefore the dreaming of heroin, once again, is her either wanting to escape the reality or committing suicide. The lyrics give a lot of room for one's imagination and point of view so basically there isn't wrong answers. Just because I pay a lot of attention to the Manson references, a majority probably doesn't or at least they don't take it as far as I do. And like I mentioned earlier, she could just be dropping those hints for the sake of making the lyrics more complex and interesting, possibly to draw some attention from those lines that really are personal to her and possibly about her personal experiences. If I remember correctly she said in one of the recent interviews that she doesn't do heroin but then replied "no comment!" when some fan asked her at the Spotify listening party last Thursday. The lyrics could really mean anything.

    Heroin

"Manson's in the air And all my friends have come 'Cause they still feel him here" Probably doesn't need explaining. "Something 'bout this weather made these kids go crazy" Possible Manson Family reference, weren't the most of his followers quite young? "Oh, writing in blood on my walls and shit" Definitely a reference to the Cielo Drive/"Tate" murders in 1969, carried out by Manson Family members Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian and Patricia Krenwinkel. Manson had instructed the women to leave a "witchy" sign so Susan Atkins wrote the word "pig" on the front door in Sharon Tate's blood with a towel.
