  1. she wanted the last word to be blue  :eartha:  :angie:  :wowcry: (i knew that's how the record ends but A+ artistic choice)

    Nel blù dipinto di blu,

    Felice di stare lassù,

E volavo volavo felice più in alto del sole ed ancora più sù,

Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiù

Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me ...

Cue to lana singing I can fly :D

In the blue, painted in blue,
happy to be staying up above.

And I flew, flew I was happy
Higher the sun and even higher than that
While the world was slowly disappearing, far beneath

And I could hear a sweet melody playing just for my ears ...

    TO FLY OHOHOH OH OH
    TO SING OHOHOHOH OH

i now recall how 50s/60s to 90s popular italian songs have blue as a recurring theme which reminds me a bit of lana  :creep:

  2.

Get Free is one of the best songs in Lust For Life but:

I feel like the second verse could've been worded better Like my part was I, was not discerning, and you as we found out, were not in your right mind. The message of the lyrics is actually nice but it feels forced or gramatically incorrect (even though it's not). Unless that's the point or I'm missing something.

I have the same problem. I change the grammar in my head because I find that the original wording isn't flowing very well, it's a bit pedantic. (but who am i to criticise her wording LOL). I also hate "puts you in a trance" and prefer something like "sets you in a trance", i find some words too basic idk

there's a similar problem, imho, in 13 beaches and (the first verse of) cherry

  3. OMFG this is low-key off topic but guys look. So I'm in gym and I'm listening to LFL. And then Change came on. And Right when Lana sang " there's a change gonna come, idk where or when" my mom (who's 9 month pregnant) text me and said she's going into labor....

I'M SHOOKETH. QUEEN OF FORESHADOWING MY LIFE :oprah:

Such a legend, she's out there predicting our future and providing her fans A+ quality soundtracks for their lives  :pray2:

I'm so happy for your mom, I send you my congratulations to you and your family, hope everything is fine!  :flutter:

  4. in terms of eras i suppose honeymoon was pretty underwhelming with minimalistic promo, recycled footage used for freak and also mtwbt, not giving the title track a proper mv, and perhaps the addition of the backup dancers for concerts but sonically it's amazing, i always listen to all of lana's music anyway

the only low point of hm is perhaps the nina simone cover and the vinyl discontinuity between freak/art deco. i'd hate to pick a favorite but i find honeymoon to be the blueprint of what i like in an album. to me - it's almost perfect

i love every single song, and the admirable thing is that the album is very cohesive but also lana revisits (or at least acknowledges) different  styles of music from classic lounge, gospel, trap and jazz

also something that is very specific to honeymoon is that every track is in the right place: she achieved to find the perfect opener/closer combo (i ignore nina - whom i love dearly- and pretend it ends with swan song even tho the cover is ok, and also appropriate, so no hard feelings on my part). the album starts with the perfect incipit that almost breaks the 4th  wall and nudges about lana's popularity and every other track in the middle is in its right place. And love that she has an interlude

i also love how chill the album is, i like that lana has something like that in her repertoire. anyway this is all my opinion, i admit i have a negative bias against deluxe versions of albums and while UV sonically and lyrically might be more interesting there are like 4 different versions of the album (standard, deluxe, deluxe with an itunes song exclusive and a japanese deluxe version - i could be wrong) so it's kinda jarring. at least LFL has the perfect closer with GF.

i'm also partial to the surreal themes of the songs and to the hermetic approach of her lyrics, which also brings some variety to her songwriting because that's a different style from BTD/UV where she seems like she's narrating a story, while in HM she seems addressing herself or the audience about her thoughts and feelings in a dialogue. I feel that we are more included in the narrative and lana's persona with this album.

it might seem like lana hasn't taken any risks but compared to what the music industry is, the project was very risky. the tempo is too slow and not very youtube attractive. I could see the songs being played by a radio tbh but not becoming viral and eliciting lots of clicks which is something everyone attempts to do with drums, fast hooks and lush music videos (altho lana could use a better marketing strategy ...)

i'll stop before writing an essay, honeymoon is bomb.

  5. LFL is most enjoyable when listened to while surrounded by nature.

Ex: Beaches (Black Ones :hooker: ) , A Butterfly Garden, While Camping, On a Picnic. Omg i could go on forever but y'all get the gist

    absolutely

this is all trivial but the first time i listened to the digital album after buying it was outside (i still stream it), i was sitting at this bench with a lovely soft wind in the air and heroin started i was in love, it was perfect

the whole album sounds better when outside, especially next to water

  6. Lol, my housemate just put something in the microwave and the beeping when it's done was in the exact same rythm as the piano in BPBP that I'm listening to at the moment. :toofunny:

I bet nobody cares, but I thought it was funny and wanted to share it. :hooker:

i once listened to wtwwaw sitting by the river and i heard an airplane behind me while the song was beginning and it complemented the drone sound, i was like   :gclap:

  7. tbh when i try to sing along to some of these songs i want to tear up a bit, not really from sadness but from being emotional

especially 13 beaches (and those strings literally pull my heart and when the drums come after, well that's magical) and heroin (the"oh my god" and "oh oh oh oh" really really get me, they remind me of some folcloric moroccan music one of my friends listens to)

  8. I think she's alluring to her childhood days were she dreamed about candies instead of heroin. You know, " it's innocence lost". But this may be a reach lmao

Altho I hear marzipan I thought she was saying another word world for some medical drug that I can't spell and marzipan was me mishearing ... but i like the innocence lost interpretation tbh, marzipan is also present in kids' fairy tales (grimm brothers)

  9. I could hardly watch the videos, this is so sickening and all my thoughts and sincere condolences are with those who were there who have been victims of the shooting or had to witness these kind of attacks

it is really hard to get the courage of continuing to live life like you did before, unless people come together and encourage and empower each other to not succumb to terror. i'm always torn between being paranoidly afraid of going anywhere and pretending to be brave and go outside and have fun and do all the things terrorists (and the like) want to make you afraid of. and las vegas *is* a (or maybe THE) place for having fun and letting go, i pray for the people to heal, and that in the future, governments might show to be more willing to protect its citizens with the right legislation

3 years ago, i was with my friends drinking hot wine in paper goblets until a truck driver crashed into the christmas market in front of us and run over 11 people and it took us a moment to go up some stairs to a store, and some hours later we were supposed to get to a bus to go to belgium and enjoy a lighthearted weekend before the real shit began at prep school. i'm glad we went with our plans and stuck together and i don't know if it counts as fighting against terrorism but despite all my fears i didn't want to stop living because of people like these

i'm sorry if i'm telling you about this, it might be rude to write about this (kinda personal) accident when the topic is about las vegas

i don't want to offend anyone, trying to live and enjoy life despite all kinds of shitstorms is something i'm working on and i hope people everywhere to enjoy just the best of things life and art have to offer

  10.

i'm good at faking signatures, i used to do that for my classmates but i can't even sign my name the same way every time i need to. i just do how i feel and it's different, i'm afraid to get shit for that actually. also there's a 2 years gap between the two albums but it'd be tragic if any artist would fake their signature :(

  11. catalonia's (like in belgium and northern italy) decision to be independent was also fueled by the difference in revenue from the rest of spain, something that apparently madrid takes advantage of without the catalans perceiving an appropriate trade off from the government.

it's so disgraceful that the tensions have blown into proper violence, this could have been avoided and i can't see people not wanting to be independent now even though i don't really approve of the sentiment :(
