full disclosure i stopped keeping up with her post-demidevil (i think unlikeable and hi its me are near perfection but i think i'm just not her target demographic anymore and that's fine) but ymms grew on me, i hated worms, and havent even given a full listen to weedkiller, but i feel so bad for her. she's alluded to signing a shitty contract and that keeps proving to be true- her label seems obsessed with killing her momentum, i remember they almost delayed demidevil to mid-february (obviously so she could theoretically get a hit) and then shipped out her vinyl early forcing her to unceremoniously dump it a month early, and now they're delaying her ALBUM causing it to be a 6 month wait between announcement and release. she clearly has so much talent but is being held down by her label, and it sucks. i know she has a great album in her and i hope she gets to release it one day EDIT: Also just listened to possession of a weapon and holy shit- this is fantastic. also feels like this might be what she wants to make and stuff like worms could be to please label heads, i can't imagine anyone with the level of taste required to make possession making a song like worms

these post 2020 singles (especially nim, my kink is karma, and casual) are pretty perfect but god femininomenon was the world's biggest disappointment

predictions: the shows will be GOOD. she will be late, but much like her meltdown fest show, it will be good once she's on stage. descending release probably, maybe with double music video w don't forget ntmt repress almost definitely, it would make so much sense as she HAS to sell some form of merch and ntmt is going on ten years old. if we're lucky, masochism will be announced but really really doubt it

it just overall feels like the ultimate "3 strikes you're out" situation-- a lot of us delusional fans gave her a chance with the million release dates, then a chance with downhill lullaby, and then there was so much fanfare behind the don't forget rollout + tonia saying the ALBUM was coming that it felt like something HAD to happen this time. and what happened? a scrapped music video, a pretty mid song, and SHOCKER! sky going back to saying the label is holding her back bla bla bla she wants to do it the right way. she does not sell enough albums or have enough of a following to get the halsey treatment she so desperately wants. i love her, ntmt is one of my favorite albums ever and i see a lot of myself in how she conducts herself/her artistry but she needs to get over herself and sacrifice some things and get her shit together and release a fucking album, or even the most delusional fans (even the freesky people) will stop tuning in. it's been 10 years, if we don't get anything for ntmt anniversary i think we can consider this whole thing over, if not one of the biggest "what-could-have-beens" in pop music history.
