your mind…..!!!! honestly i don't remember what the real tracklist is, it was basically the same as the one i made b4 it leaked so i kept eet
  2. omg lana signed my wrist and i tattooed it, love it sm, lemme take a lewk ah i quite like this post though i warn you "preferably lower" may not work out
  3. i have web design and marketing materials to work on but all i wanna do is talk about NFR and how much my heart exploded when i saw charli's tweet notification
  4. i completely agree, 2019 has been consistent twists, dilemmas, fails and falls, but the year is also this utopian slate of constant releases by my entire last.fm top 50. and the releases just keep timing up whether i'm grateful or temporarily annoyed. i must say i don't know if i could've gotten through the first half without L+F (snapped), dedicated, TUN, and a few others. i have a lot of changes coming throughout october and this + charli is like taking a vicodin and then some ecstasy omg we in this case tho, i'm pretty annoyed that i sought commitment or closure from this guy before the end of august specifically so i wasn't still ailing from the ambiguity while tying him to an NFR that i expected to be a little more happy. instead, she fleshed those opening lines into nearly an entire album about his failures and disappointment and being ultimately unwilling to change, therefore the album almost perfectly puts to paper how i feel about him right now and there's no undoing those connotations. a nightmare
  5. california is so breathtaking, like i'm sorry but yall realize LANA DEL REY released a song called CALIFORNIA and gave us a timeless, heartbreaking desperate-love love ballad touching every note of classic rock, invoking the state's evergreen tropes and nostalgia to then lace it through the entire piece……… or………………….. lana del rey, norman fucking rockwell! (2019), "california". a reference to be distantly admired for the rest of time. every time i hit this song again i have to clench my…..…teeth. fist.
  6. yeah, the fact that we've had a year of memories with the song helps. that song narrated my first real apartment move-in, but first leaving my hometown and playing it every time i was with my friends in the car, rearranging their furniture, smoking and talking. it was the end of summer tune last year and this time the whole family is h :ohsnap:ere
  7. it's a once in a career kind of song… a magnum opus. that psychedelic sound was brand new to us. venice bitch itself can be fairly described as mood music since that's literally the point, and i definitely use it as such all the time. even pull up the video. probably get lost in the mood and end up making little progress on the task at hand, but not always. also, i'm a sucker for long ~'journey' songs and that one still blows my mind. check out: donnie darko - let's eat grandma, touch - daft punk, century - feist, movies - weyes blood, for my favorite non-vb examples
  8. i said it once... and i'll keep saying it… Norman fucking Rockwell! by Lana Del Rey OFFICIAL B E S T TRACKS! #1 Venice Bitch, #2 California she. knew. what. she. was. doing.
  9. it really fits for me. if venice bitch is their psychedelic trip, doin time is their hollywood blockbuster (or, the music video). she's almost teasing west coast for us. it punts some energy back into it, signifying where they became legit, and it was great. a detail i love is how doin' time, in its original lyrics, puts lana singing in the position of the man, a theme that's been present since MAC. once again, she knew what she was doing. as an album track, it feels no further a deviation than venice bitch being 9 minutes long, tnbar being a controversially-reworked legendary demo, or hope, a seemingly one-off bare ballad. i'm not struggling to appreciate every one of them (esp vb lmao but some ppl……)
  10. i would really like to know how long it took them to perfect all of the intros and outros, the notes, the melodies….. the start of california is one of the very saddest things i've ever heard. it's like those notes temporarily unlock every atom of heartbreak and sadness i've held onto. and now i'm in the second chorus and yeah, she knew what she was doing here of course and i'm getting my ultraviolence fix. whew, what a song.
  11. literally, there are *very* few albums i couldn't fathom removing a single track from. i have a weird way of visualizing tracklists that usually involves an element skewing the representation based on a tracklist's hotspots (making for some wildly different conceptualizations since filler can/will strike anywhere). but this is soooo tight at the moment (nn) like…. i literally go to the tracklist and wouldn't even know where to click. cinnamon girl is tempting since it's a fucking bop and i want it now but love song i could actually end up doing as my first dance, so no skips. then what, doin time? after that video? no skips. FIILY? why? the only bump could be MAC and VB tracks two and three, but VB is central to the setup for the rest of the album and now i'm also annoyed at the describing of this as a mood album. i personally think it's insulting to reduce any of her albums to that but she does it herself so i digress on thaT. but yeah no i think this experience with the tracklist is, in my mind, pointing to an album with robust, consistent quality, but also the way she told the story in such a half-compartmentalized-half-meta fashion makes it just really gripping and unexpected to listen to. the flow is really immaculate, and thank u lana for this time capsule/treasure/monument/opus like we will literally still be listening to this on our headphones while we're lying in our death beds, if i'm not then something went wrong
  12. the way this album came together amazes me. i've avoided all snippets and didn't even listen/watch FIIYL/TG but: venice bitch as track three still amazes me. i made a playlist for a dead boy with the same deliberate vibe judgement and it was gr8. doin time video elevated the song to… god tier? i don't know? still processing. perfect placement tho. the first 30 seconds of BAR's new lyrics were a trip but then i realized i fucking love that she warped that song into something new and just as great. hope as the closing track… after a full listen… it's like a whole new song. i always liked it but girl! nothing to comment on the songs she teased in past forms since i can't even remember how they sounded. all i know is this is one THICK, FLUID ass album with zero skips. those who never even heard MAC/VB are in for a goddamn meal i'm not even processing this, i finally listened at like 6am and have still been listening to other music as usual. and to be honest this is exactly how i hoped it would be since i'm moving into a luxury apartment (not rich lol) on friday and am ready to play this on the built in sound system 25/8 getting high on the balcony 26/9… oh please west coast don't get me back into smoking parliaments on the balcony and swaying w my hands up
  13. "i just wanna dance with you" will def be circling my mind for the rest of my single life

i feel a piercing emotional connection to party 4 u, as i do films from julianne moore or julia roberts, big little lies, handmaids tale. those incredible women confronting and overcoming their pain. it's so devastating and honest, and yet she delivered that song like it's her day job. so much brilliant writing of hers will never be read/heard.

  21. just wanna say i'm glad i'm not the only one conscious of where i'll be when the album comes out. i've been talking to this incredible guy hours every day for 1.5 months and our chemistry is beyond, i make him laugh all the time but now he's saying he only wants to be friends i goddamn know he's avoiding his feelings and justifying it with practical reasons he shouldn't date but i can't change him. all i wanted was to find a good guy who wanted to have fun in the city this summer and see what happens but i'm now 0/2. two great gay friends, something i'm lacking. zero real intimacy, something i'm needing. anyway, i told myself i had to be crystal clear where i am with him before NFR comes out because i am not going to taint this record anytime soon for any damn one. dedicated has been through the fkn wringer, granted that album is what subconsciously propelled me to download tinder. so it's looking like NFR will be a solo experience and i'm ok with that. i'd rather have this goddamn man-child but the next month is going to be very busy for me and this album will keep me sane. when i have this girl's autograph on my left wrist, that moment sealed forever by one excruciating tattoo, i know we a species too evolved for most to appreciate. i still want dick but what about it.
  22. honeymoon (album) finally fully clicked with me mid fall 2017 on a depressing night alone in my RA dorm. it was raining outside and i'd probably taken a xanax skds;la and i literally just turned all the lights off and played the album over my bluetooth speaker, me lying in bed on my chest looking down at the street. and wow what a very surreal and serene experience. ride is my favorite song that happens to be an opener but honeymoon is my favorite opener in its function as the opener. stunning. the bridge, ah.
