this may end up my favorite vinyl ever oh wow (UV UO tho??) the blue is gorgeous but there will definitely be other limited releases. i think most record stores would like an exclusive lana pressing. -
i can not believe she's both opening in chicago for charli AND performing at dorian's afterparty….. rly hope charli comes to the afterparty lol (that shouldn't be a question if what she says is true)

i didn't mean "stand out" like *literally* sonically………. yes…she…is…intentionally…narrating…….like from the present. the lyrics are devastating. she loved him so much she'd have smiled to take his every last bullet. and she did. he stained everything. her aphrodisiacs are no longer. now they trigger existential confusion. but she is also self aware. reflective. of course she knows she sounded dramatic. this isn't 2012. she knows she will be ok with peaches someday. but fuck, whyy did i give someone that much power???! -
that's the point tho carly running from her feelings:

i do. i love the song that much. the video is honestly so great to play on tv if you're hanging w friends or just hanging out by yourself. or, from your laptop while taking a candlelit bath. yes, a lot of it is looped driving footage. it's so effectively used. the first ~four minutes intersperse purely enchanting clips of lana, and like, is she even acting? but it is an intense song with a dramatic, dreamy beat change slowly unwound into wandering and exploration… and those moments are when she dips out, and the music takes over. those unfixed hours on the freeway—literally, the open road—are for us to vibe in our own way. finally, as the wayward guitar solo melts into the sunset, we and lana reconnect. she sounds satisfied. confident. comfortable… oh look, silly lana, getting in trouble with the police again. she ain't mad. she's having fun. -
i literally had Lock You Up second to last song in a two hour playlist i made this hottie i've been vibing with this month jfkl;dasf. he mostly only listens to guys and i wanted to know what sounds he likes, and he was surprised i actually loved it—both have big affinity for 80s synths. and then he ended up liking mine (just as i thought, i snapped there; also included underrated opus Deadstream). also yeah kinda obsessed w Flash Pose now i haven't love/hate'd a charli song this much in ages but her verse really goes off objectively best part of the song sry

I try real hard, but I'm caught up by my insecurities Pour me one more, watch the ice melt in my fist ~ Why do we keep when the water runs? Why do we love if we're so mistaken? Why do we leave when the chase is done? Don't search me in here, I'm already gone, baby Why do we keep when the water runs? Why do we love? they're basically listing examples of destructive relationship dynamics they/we've been in, and how they/we've become hardened and cynical about love...but we can't stop it from happening when we're feeling it once more
-
why do we keep (still) when the water runs is how i made sense of it
-
the way it covers both lana and charli, and two of their best songs at that
-
i haven't listened to 2099 yet so i'm excited to hear it!

i think gone reminds me of no angel because, besides having some compositional similarities, they both feel like capstones in her musical journey. they are just excellent pop anthems, a flex from charli, the songwriter. both demonstrate the power of pc music. and they were both highly anticipated—no angel because we had the live performance for two years, and gone because we had girls, playboy style, 1999, bioyl, spicy, dream glow, bioyl (stripped), bioyl (more remixes).
