  1. You know that picture of Lizzy smiling with a cat in her arms and a motorcycle in the background, I never saved it but want to make it my DP ~  does anyone have it so I don't dig through the forum the whole day  :creep:  ?

So late to the party  :(

  3. Breasts in an everyday context? How shocking. :P

Although what is empowering for Sky now will probably be used as leverage later, for plastering ads all over the place featuring album covers that are more about exploitation than empowerment. Followed by the inevitable overcorrection and counter-overcorrection...

(Prove me wrong, society, please prove me wrong  :ohno: )

  5. @@keanefar

    1. Trash -- love it

    2. Diet Mtn Dew demo -- have you considered Lolita demo 1? It's one of the (3:51) demos; I'd describe it as "soft surf noir."

    3. YBIATR - I can see this standing in for OSCYS, but it seems more country than surf. What about You & Me?

    4. Hawaiian Tropic -- a must-have for the playlist, but I wonder if it would work best as the album closer? Could use Heavy Hitter here.

    5. Boarding School -- despite the "South Beach Swing" line, and the noir vibes, it still doesn't feel surf to me. Maybe consider Party Girl.

    6. Catch & Release -- Really weird, but I think it could work as a stand-in for Jump. Paradise (the song) is happier tho, and you could use C&R later as a stand-in for Raise Me Up.

    7. Maha Maha -- love it!

    8. YGLM -- I love this as a stand-in for PSB!

    9. You could put Catch & Release here as a stand-in for Raise Me Up

    10. Motel 6 -- I like it. (Does it represent RMU or Brite Lites? Either way, I like it.)

    11. Moi Je Joie -- love it!

    12. Pin Up Galore -- love it!

    13. Behind Closed Doors -- Yes! Perfect answer to Smarty

    14. Television Heaven -- Not sure why it's here, but I like it

    15. Summer of Sam -- This song is so N.Y.C. I think you could close here with Hawaiian Tropic. Unless you want to end on a happier note? Then maybe Summer Wine or Driving in Cars. I also think On Our Way is a great closer; even tho it's not surfish, it could be like, driving away from the coast or something...

I haven't had time yet to check the flow of anything, so yours might be better; but these are the suggestions I thought of.

My "surf noir" (or at least "surf") playlist, just for laughs (I'm not entirely satisfied with it):

    Party Girl:

    Pin Up Galore

    Lolita demo 1

    St. Tropez

    Paradise

    My Best Days

    Summer Wine

    Jump

    Mermaid Hotel

    Heavy Hitter (James Dean remix)

    Kill Kill

    Burning Desire

    Trash Magic/Miss America

    Summertime Sadness

    Maha Maha (version 1)

    You & Me

    Dark Paradise

    Hawaiian Tropic

    Driving in Cars (demo)

  6. "Like A G6" was released promotionally and free by Charli and MNEK. "I Don't Know Your Name" is a part of the Rick Nowels leaks.

Thanks. I guess maybe I'll pipe down for awhile until I finish reading...

    :raven:

  7. Ugh Heartbreak High, Cuts Like Diamonds, Chains, and Don't Know Your Name are such low points when listening through her unreleased/miscellaneous catalog it hurts to sit through them :xcry:

In terms of the music/lyrics, or because they could have been meant for future projects?

(I'm only on page 105, guys, I'm on the edge of my seat! WHY THE HELL DID HEARTBREAK HIGH LEAK?!?)

  8. Well, I went to amazon this week to see about buying Pure Heroine, and I ended up getting True Romance instead :P

    It is so good!!!  :hdu:

So now I'm playing catch-up on all the Charli XCX posts since April. And finding lots of goodies along the way (info, links, fabulous fan art). And 14! It's so funny, because its sound reminds me of early Simple Minds, who evolved into one of the best 80s bands creating atmospheric pop, and look where Charli is now!

Is it wrong that I still like Heartbreaks and Earthquakes even better than TR?  :ohno:

  9. 1. Groundhog Day  :flutter:

    2. The Princess Bride

    3. Highlander (The first one. I try to block out everything that happened after that.)

    4. Harry Potter (All of them :D )

    5. The Breakfast Club

    6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

    7. The Butterfly Effect (Theatrical version, NOT the directors' cut. Don't be such a drama queen Evan  :P )

    8. Tinker Bell  :crossed:

    9. Say Anything...

    10. Donnie Darko

    11. 50 First Dates

    12. Ladyhawke

    13. Raiders of the Lost Ark

    14. Sucker Punch (Completely defies the traditional Hollywood narrative; it's so weird and I love it, dammit)

    15. Pretty in Pink

    I am so old...  :ohno:
