  1. The MTV Unplugged performance was at Funkhaus Nalepastraße, a music hall and TV studio in Berlin.
  2. On 24/25 November 2011, she was at L'Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris. It was an event called "Amazing Night" sponsored by Nokia, she sang Blue Jeans and Video Games. She was also at Shoreditch House in East London, where she sang Video Games (and possibly other songs). Idk the exact date, but the YT video was published on 23 November 2011 so I would put it around the middle of the month.
  3. The 7-piece live band scared me a little tbh. To me Ultraviolence would imply trip-hop beats and a huge "cinematic" orchestra in terms of production (like OTTR or You and Me)...not a little jazz-rock band. But whatever, I mean it's new Lana stuff so I'd love it even if it was horrible and truly "unlistenable" anyway. /side eyes Betty Boop Boop/
  4. This surprise release probably isn't her, but I think it would be good not to have the (non-fandom) hype like BtD did. It was rlly over the top and the backlash was terrible. Of course she should still do promotion--like TV/radio spots so we have HQ live songs idk tho since this is her second full album, she can pretty much count on some hype.
  5. ngl I cried the first time I listened to You and Me because it was almost a spiritual experience (like how perfectly the lyrics fit my life idk how to explain it) and ever since then I've stanned for that song to hard of course Video Games is always a good song to wallow in self-pity to when you're feeling sappy
  6. I wish You and Me would be the first single from Ultraviolence. Idk man it's just like I really hope something on UV can top it, but for now it's my favorite song ever. I hope UV doesn't sound like Y&B or the OUAD cover. I mean I'll still love it if it does, but the title Ultraviolence implies heavy trip-hop beats and sinister string arrangements to me, not sugary, timid strings and barely there drums. I liked Y&B or the OUAD as part of their respective movies, but they don't really stand out on their own to me like any song from AKA or BtD.
  7. She's obviously a musician, but she signed to Next Model Management in 2012 (idk if she still is or not); they've been her talent rep for some of her magazine cover shoots and the stuff with Mulberry.
  8. Maybe it's just the B&W picture but Dan Auerbach looks like a drug addicted serial killer. But in a hot way, like I would sit on his lap too
  9. For some reason I think it might be like The Antlers' Hospice. Like, musically beautiful - but when you look at the lyrics, they're really dark and almost "unlistenable" because of all the raw emotion. Only with more trip-hop influences pls
  10. Same! I know that Lawn is far back, and Pavillion is up front, but idk what the frick VIP is.
  11. holy shit I might actually be able to go to sweetlife and see her
  12. "Venus in Furs" by the Velvet Underground (it's so dark and cinematic and sexy and the instrumental is already perfect for her), "House of the Rising Sun," and in a sick way I want her to sing Leonard Cohen's very over-covered "Hallelujah."
  13. Has anyone ever asked her about the brand of false eyelashes she wears when she's just out shopping or running errands like this? They look really thick and long, but they're natural enough not to look weird without eyeliner and makeup. Someone DM her pls and hopefully get a reply like 5 months later
  14. Is that some weird light on her hair, or are the huge silver hoop earrings back? god damn I hope so
  15. Of course I'm thrilled to be getting new Lana stuff and to have attention diverted from the YLM/RMS snippets, but seriously where in the everloving fuck did this even come from like???? But if she has to do a Disney song, this would be the one because she can use her MDM yodel for the random ahhhing/vocalizing parts
  16. 1) Cola 2) Blue Jeans 3) New Song 4) Born to Die 5) Raise Me Up 6) Mermaid Motel 7) Video Games 8) Never Let Me Go 9) Last Girl on Earth 10) For K Part 2 (demo version) 11) Velvet Crowbar 12) Playing Dangerous 13) Off to the Races 14) Ride 15) You and Me #delusional
  17. The "Lana Del Rey, thank you baby" bit at the end is kinda cute
  18. Definitely my favorite 2013 memory would be the first show in the Paradise Tour where her band had *gasp* drums and backing tracks. I mean, her acoustic pianotastic sets were charming and all, but I'd missed the beats and sampling in her songs. Starry Eyed was amazing too.
  19. Personally I just think Blurred Lines winning would be the final "fuck you" to rape victims in the US. You're right, Robin Thicke is the crowned king of double standards tbh
  20. I'm not invested in the show or who gets what trophy. If Blurred Lines wins a NATIONAL award, I think that's indicative of rape culture acceptance in mainstream media in America. It's the message that sends that would irritate me. Forgive the all-caps hyperbole that you apparently didn't pick up on.
  21. Skyfall is dull and passe. Sure Adele has that powerful classic voice that people seem to love so much, but there's no real depth in her singing or lyricism. Other than that unfortunate "a boy left me and I'm butthurt and insecure so I'm going to stalk him at his wedding which would get me a restraining order if I were a man" moment on 21. Even though Y&B isn't the best Lana song, it deserves to beat fucking Skyfall. But Paradise???? Like I loved it in the way a parent loves their kid's talent show performance, and plus it was new material and Ride was flawless etc. But I don't think it's Grammy-worthy, unlike Born to Die. It wasn't as cohesive or well-produced or significant. I agree that it's a consolation prize for snubbing BTD. Stii hope it wins though--I want Lana to feel like the US loves and appreciates her again. AND IF FUCKING BLURRED LINES BEATS HER I AM GOING TO DIE AND EXPLODE INTO THE STRATOSPHERE BECAUSE I HATE EVERYTHING ON THIS FUCKED UP PLANET SO HELP ME.
  22. looking at the premeire pictures and I just realized that Lana and Chuck have the same ears, like kind of elfish when they tuck their hair back Chuck is too beautiful to be real
  23. Howl is my favorite poem ever--actually getting a tattoo of the line "we are great writers on the same dreadful typewriter" when I can save up enough money. I think I remember Lana saying in some interview that she used to keep a copy of Howl in her wallet and read it often??? Plus her twitter bio "angel-headed hipsters." Anyway I'm glad she's including it.
  24. This summary sounds like those kinds of melodramatic, oversimplistic, exploitative, Jesus-tastic movies that they used to show back in Catholic school I mean it's even complete with an evil abortion-loving father and a wise priest Ah, the memories. Tbh I cannot see how "Born to Die" could ever fit in organically with this Oscar-begging trainwreck.
