  1. Goodness I feel so bad for the person posting a speed-up version of DICWB and still thinking this is MTWBT. Some of you are really something else. Anyways, I am really excited to listen to her version of Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. It's impossible to match Nina's version, because of her delivery which is outstanding. It's one of my favourite songs of all time. It's way harder to do it justice than The Other Woman. Suprised she didn't chose Be My Husband which would have suited her well and the title Honeymoon, but maybe it's too close to home. So many people forget about Nina's music and don't give her the credit she deserves. It's sad.
  2. It didn't completly bomb in the States. Sales are around 450k by now, which is neither great nor awful. It did however fall short worldwide compared to BTD. However, it is not sales only since streaming gets more and more important. While Lana still fares great on Spotify, people seem to have lost interest in her videos. Streaming is now also included in album charts in the US, so therefor it is also an underwhelming aspect of the UV era, see the video for Ultraviolence, the official 2nd single
  3. thread ruined by your first post. thank you very much for your effort.
  4. That is fair and absolutely ok. Nobody dismisses that. Nobody here wants her to be unhappy. I assume we are all devoted here, so that's the reason we post. Nobody is forced to post here. Still, a discussion about success and charts is a discussion that is not complete BS. Almost every artist has it, and it's always nice to see some positive things in the musical career of our fave. It's also fair to inform about negative developments.
  5. Okay, I will give this one a try. Before we spam other threads with posts about the success of Ultraviolence or lack thereof, the impacT of BTD or its lack of critical acclaim, I think it is better to post in this thread. Chart positions, discussion about sales of albums and singles. I will try to update my post when I am in the mood with some receipts. So folks, let's discuss whoever is interested.
  6. Just as I said, I think that we need another thread for this because to have the discussion is okay and fair. But please, what is heavily promoted for Lana standards? Girl has only two albums out and I really don't want the promo for UV to become a standard for her. UV has not sold more than BTD six months after release. BTD managed to sell more, way more. It sold more in the States but not worldwide, not even close. Even if she released 2,5 years later and not just probably one, it wouldn't even cross 2 million. BTD will remain her magnum opus despite being penned by critics, simply because it launched a pretty massive era that is one of the strongest for female pop singers of the 2010's. Having great reviews from music publications is nice, but Lana still has not won a Grammy that is overall way more something memorable than having a positive review from Pitchfork Magazine. As I said, UV is the better album for me personally, but the whole visual aspect that made Lana so popular in the first place was a HUGE letdown. And please, if I am not quick, let somebody else open up a thread about it. The other charts thread is way too old. EDIT: Ok, I made a thread. Please post about charts, success there if you want to keep this thread at least a biT on topic. http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/topic/5786-lana-on-the-charts-and-sales-overall-discussion/
  7. Sorry, but are you trying to say that BTD is a sell-out that will be forgotten in a few years while people will remember Lana for UV? And the delusion has to stop. Nobody cares if you sit on your couch and do nothing, if you write for your next record or not, if you pick on your nose, if an album is not living up to the comercial expectations, it's simply an underperformance. To call UV a complete flop is not fair by any means, but it underperformed and we need to get over it. Lana already did, why can't you? Also, I think we need a seperate thread for this topic. Maybe I open up one soon, because it is way off topic
  8. I really think you have a point when it comes to some things, that should be discussed and that's fair. But pls ffs, don't make it so easy for others to dismiss your views by fueling the discussion with flamebait that is way OTT
  9. Ok, I am somebody who also follows the charts and this whole "who is a real fan or who is just here for somebody cuz of the charts"- argument is the utter pits. Of course I and I am pretty sure MIAM as well, is also here because we want to see Lana succeed and I am pretty sure that Lana herself wants to get commercial success otherwise she would release music for free. If we want it or not, sales and chart rankings are important to a mainstream artist signed to a major label. Even "the kewl ppl who don't give a shit about the charts" need to accept that because it determines if our favourite artist can continue making their art in the way she used to from having great producers to work with to great videos, etc. All of this what I said above does not mean that she has to dumb down her music. She didn't do it with BTD. There was just something very special about it to make it already a classic. UV is the better album overall for me, I also tolerate ppl who think otherwise, but Lana has the potential to outshine the overall perception of UV by far. And now, can we get over this discussion? I am really tired of it. Thx.
  10. I think we might lose you as a stan after this record. And I Can Fly is so corny.
  11. U will be so disappointed because this album probably won't sound anything like your beloved BTD. It's just the same as last year. People were expecting from Dan to come up with a production style close to Paradise and he didn't. Mark Ronson won't either. And then the BTD lovers will all be pissed again.
  12. How can an album produced by Mark Ronson be anything like Born To Die and Paradise?
  13. Don't quote the boots. I think it makes it worse, cause there is a response
  14. I always forget about this song although it is by far not the worst one on BTD
  15. Hmmm....Idk, I usually wouldn't, but if I had to... Brom Tu Dei 1. Born To Die 2. Off TO The Races 3. Blue Jeans 4. You Can Be The Boss 5. Driving In Cars With Boys 6. Video Games 7. Kinda Outta Luck 8. Diet Mtn Dew 9. Radio 10. Summertime Sadness 11. Dark Paradise 12. This Is What Makes Us Girls Ultraflatulence Black Beauty Cruel World Shades Of Cool Brooklyn Baby West Coast Ultraviolence Sad Girl Pretty When You Cry Money Power Glory Fucked My Way Up To The Top Old Money The Other Woman
  16. All I can say is that I won't make some of the mistakes I have made the last time before UV dropped. I most certainly won't visit Rob's Twitter. Like, that is the first thing. Since Lanadelreyonline has gone downhill, there is also no need to go and find information there. I won't stalk Blake's Insta, because he won't post there anything at all. Same for Mark Ronson. I will just wait and see. Last time she announced in December and the record came out in June. Let's see how this one goes
  17. Pretty sure that she and Interscope agreed to abandon UV very quickly. After all the budget has been cut and she managed to release the record she wanted, they have probably agreed to let her release it, but to come up with a new record the next year. At least this is what it looks like to me and then to pair her with a successful producer. Not complaining though, there might be a chance of gettin a few radio friendly songs. I could need some Lana at work when the radio is on.
