I'm a music reporter and I didn't even realize Day in the Life was a Beatles cover

From a music blog (since there's no bio for her):

The UK M.I.A? The new Charli XCX? Robyn version 2.0? The modern version of Amazulu? (OK that last one might be a bit obscure for younger readers). Whatever your reference point is one thing is for sure, Femme is bloody brilliant. This is thoroughly modern pop brought to you by South London based producer and vocalist Laura Bettinson a Goldsmiths graduate who has already been involved in a broad church of projects including Ultraísta, the band formed by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and drummer Joey Waronker as well as eccentric electronic pop act Dimbleby & Capper. However it’s with Femme that we really feel Laura has found her space. The songs she’s making are a little bit left of centre but with fantastic hooks and snappy lyrics. “I’m looking at the girl in the Afghan Coat and wondering if she’s naked underneath,” is our favourite.    The sound of Femme is all candy rhymes, booty shaking bass lines, cool for school raps, candyfloss computerisations, cartoon hooks, sassy self-belief and just a hell of a lot of fun. With 2 double A Sides Educated /Double Trouble and Fever Boy / Heartbeat (on 12” heart shaped vinyl) already out there Femme has got our attention. Now it’s time that she got yours.    Fans of everyone mentioned above you have to check her out! *she's a little like Peaches too   And cyber sleuths help me out with getting a list of back catalogs together   https://soundcloud.com/thisisfemme/

I don't have anything from when she went by Dimbleby & Capper in 08-09
I'm starting to get stuff from Ultraista from 08-12
I'm still trying to find live links for some of the Femme stuff because I don't buy anything

Updated list of available songs as Femme:

Educated Double Trouble Heartbeat Daydreamer Who's That Fever Boy Respect (Aretha Franklin cover) Sophisticated Boom Boom (Shangri-La's cover) Ring My Bell (Anita Ward cover) Vogue (Madonna cover)   edit: Hold off on downloading the last 3, it's part of a Covers EP she's releasing once she posts the track from the 90s

Well that expanded on something I thought

BTD was idealizing American ideals and crap
UV is the deconstruction and realization there's evils out there

so dark it's almost unlistenable ~

It would be really unwise to tour the US again without it being in support of a new record so I'm gonna say the release is in Sept, they better get moving though

But the rules specifically say no dance remixes. A project like this would be a lot easier with stems but alas we don't have them

I will remain pressed that Oh No!, Hollywood and Shampain weren't commercially received well in the UK

I definitely prefer TFJ compared to EH

I'm sorry, but as a journalism major I have to ask what kind of quack journalist this person was?

You always have another voice recorder on hand, you surely don't paraphrase what ANYONE has said if you're going to make claims and not have direct quotes to back them up and you absolutely never send your articles to management for correction before they're published (which is what it sounded like he did)

    /end rant
