  1. When did it not? The hate towards HIAB has always been weird.
  2. I'd love it. Melancholic piano ballads about depression is all it takes to satisfy me.
  3. This song is so personal, I really cannot. This is the most honest she's ever been with us I'm LOVING this new self-aware step forward.
  4. Can we just appreciate how gorgeously crystal clear her voice is.
  5. I don't hear no typewriter... maybe just the sounds of the piano's sustain pedal or some creaking of the chair, but definitely not a typewriter
  6. Really? Source? I remember she called it "not a fun one, just a serious, thoughtful one". Turning that into unexciting and uneventful is quite something....
  7. Shocker: people perceive complex stimuli differently and make different attributions regarding their meanings. I'm glad that you feel you can predict tracklist positions based on your ability to see colours from sounds, but I hope you can empathise with the fact that other people may think differently from you!
  8. Same. But for me, the "violets in your eyes...", "tangerine dream" and "tequila sunrise" lyrics also made a strong impression in my mind.

    Jackson Says

You have made some points here. The way he jumped from a 1/10 to an 8/10 like that.
  10. Yeah, I also remember being an edgy teenager seeking thrills from provoking others. Luckily I've moved on from that.
  11. But I'm not Baby, I'm not... Nooo I'M NOT that I'm not!
  12. I'm impressed at this level of mental gymnastics you did to come to that conclusion The song is definitely about being young and in love, but perhaps she cut the title so that it is a bit more distinct from Young & Beautiful.
  13. This is lowkey tea though. I feel like White Mustang is compositionally an important milestone for her because it shares similarities with quite a few of the newer tracks that we've heard snippets of -- HIAB, How to Disappear & Sylvia. They just have that classic moody, melancholic piano ballad vibe. Maybe in this record she's trying to find a balance between the sadder, intimate White Mustang-esque tracks (HIAB, HTD, etc.) and the optimistic, hopeful Change/GetFree-esque tracks (MAC, IYC....). Just speculation though since we have not heard full versions of all of these songs
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4CImwUAsz4 "Every night I like to make something up to this melody It's just something that I do before White Mustang On the road, road again Baby it's something that just helps me through" Well, there we have it, straight from the horse's mouth.
  15. And how do we know that is Bartender and not just some improv she thought was cute? I must have missed out on that revelation...
  16. Like others have already corrected you -- she said he brought her chords, not the melodies. They're quite different. This is normal behaviour for her anyway. At least when she was working with Rick, he was mostly the one coming up with the chords. You're right that it is a collaborative process though. But we don't have enough information to say who did what and who deserves the "most" credit, as if it even matters.
  17. Best American Record // Architecture is such a good song I can't even believe it's real. Every single detail of it is perfect.
  18. I lost it when she said "deeply introspective thoughtful sad girl shit".
  19. I honestly don't mind that Lana is being so "silent" (which is actually normal for her.... she's always been like this.... people acting surprised when it's stale tea..... ). There's still so much of her older discography to appreciate and admire I never run out of things to listen to, even nearly 6 years later. I've been on a Born to Die binge lately... what a spectacular album. Absolutely classic. It's just timeless.
  20. Honestly these two new songs are more folk than country... Also Cinnamon is a sensual, fiery, melancholic masterpiece. Feels like a natural continuation and maturation of Honeymoon-era songs, mixed with a lil bit of the rock // RHCP vibe we heard in Venice Bitch. NO slander will be allowed.
  21. NFR as it existed in September may have been done back then. But we don't have the tea on what has happened since then. She could very well have decided to rework some aspects of the album, record additional songs or change the direction (see LFL). What we do know is that she has still been in the studio.
  22. Lana is doing y'all a favour by forcing y'all to go outside and have your own life rather than living solely to consume her music. Imagine going to a gourmet restaurant and breathing down the neck of the chef, urging him to hurry up and just finish the damn meal. Sure, you can do that if you want undercooked, soggy, half-baked and sloppy food that hits your taste buds in all the wrong ways. Or you can go to McDonalds. Let her work at her own pace. She don't owe you anything.
