I’m on Apple Music too and downloaded a zip with the mp3 to Violet, after having bought it through their audiobooks. That way, I could make a playlist of her poems intertwined with her songs. Ocean Blvd will surely complement that playlist I’m sure.

My two cents about it: It really depends how you want your first experience. if you want to have heard the least amount possible, then don’t. Many of the snippets are very short, lq… If you want a little taste of the album and are sure it won’t spoil your first listen, then go ahead and do it. I havent listened to the whole songs though that leaked. we’re getting a new single this week, so it’s not a total desert from now Til release.

This is the true incredible part of this pre-release: with albums leaking way before time, with her stuff getting stolen, we’re 13 days away from release and the album hasn’t completely leaked I was sure it was gonna happen around VDay.

The controversial lyrics aren’t what I think could lower the score, if there are any. If the vision is inconsistent / not genuine, or if it sounds like a caricature of herself, or if the heavy stuff we hear in the early tracks don’t seem to have a good transition with the « lighter » tracks, this she’ll get dragged for. Or if the controversial lyrics feel forced or a repetition from album to album (which is not the case). Bonus points for the score if she channels some sort of classic sound without mimicking it, making it her own (which what was Norman: neo Laurel-Canyon « before the doom »ish / death of the American Dream)

Any plausible guesses on the Lana surprise? i remember when BoZ said he was excited for one song from BB when it was the initial tracklist (that song being the final Fine China). I know he said on ATRL it wasn’t a new music project (so exit an unreleased collection), but a new unreleased song isn’t a project to me… Id love a documentary though. A trailer also for Ocean Blvd but is it « exciting » enough? I’d be disappointed if it was a world tour, TBH. She is a bit uneven from venue to venue.

An HQ version of the final Fine China would be the best. YTH, it’s not my fave at all, but I’m now curious to hear what would be the « final » version (official version) of it.

She usually puts out the « heart » of the album or her favourite (which is often the same). Jack’s favourite is always a single, on the albums he worked on with her. Other than that, it’s up for debate. LFL was a bit different: she sat down with Interscope very early on and decided that love and the title track would be good choices.

Should we make a separate thread for the surprise BoZ hinted at? Maybe it would help not derail the thread? I know, I’m delulu.

I don’t see Lana ever firing them: they support her on all of her decisions and probably are good link between her and Interscope. I have no idea what went down between Dua and Tap. anyways, back to topic: having heard nothing of the Grants, although some think it’s not the best promo single, I’m getting hyped again.

Yes to Heaven would be a cute move, but Fine China alongside would be better like you said. but I think 🧐 Yes to Heaven would take a lot of attention away from the new album…

My hype has died down BoZ and I seem to have very different definitions of what excites us regarding Lana. I’ll take the weekend to be excited for The Grants though on Tuesday.
