As much as I’d love Taco Truck to be the next single, I think one of the singing collab makes sense since there are a couple on this album… Candy Necklace could be a good choice if Jon Batiste sings on it (I don’t think it’s the case but I don’t get what is his « feature » if he doesn’t sing TBH… piano playing?!? Then she should have « feat Jack Antonoff » on all of her recent songs )

I’m somewhat neutral towards Miley, I didn’t hate Flowers and didn’t love it either, but it appears that she is loved by the GP, if she holds some sort of record on Spotify for this song

I was surprised by that bit too. I remember that she said that Blue Jeans sounded more like Wicked Game before Emile changed the production… But other than that, I really don’t know. and you’re right that BTD is the blueprint now for so many singers… and, well, it’s still what brings her a good chunk of her bread and butter, so maybe it was for the best if production was not what she wanted

This interview feels like the redemption from the 2014 one… For those who don’t know, the journalist spent 2-3 days with LDR, in 2014, and on the last day, he began asking her more « badgering » questions and she asked him to leave. The interview was valid, to be fair, at that time and wanted to shine a nuanced light on her (remember it was after BTD and UV, two classics that we love but that were so out of the park from what was made at that time by female singers). But to have the 2023 RS interview ask her meaningful questions, while recognizing her immense talent, it feels like the circle is now complete

Agree 💯. In the end, I tell myself that we’re lucky AF as fans, to have her releasing albums after two years tops. True, the rollout is less and less similar to other artists but she also is in a class of her own. LFL’s problem was the release date not being revealed, which is my biggest trigger in her pre-releases (Norman pushed this to its limits haha). This era is a bit spaced out, but we got a release date in December, so I’m good.

The new Rolling Stone UK has one of the best interviews she did in years. This! (Sadly) but as much as I thought LFL was a messy era, the more it was kinda the « best » of those messy eras. BB and COCC weren’t that bad but were kinda uneventful and radio silent. Norman has got to be the worst.

Maybe I should have written « postponed » for the next album? Totally agree with you that a Jon Batiste track is major and needs to be put on an album, but if they didn’t agree on the final mix before release, maybe they could have shelved the song for another project? (I can’t imagine the drama if the only track she’d have teased with a snippet wouldn’t have made the Ocean Blvd LP ) you I really don’t know and am just speculating based on the fact that someone here said it was a last minute addition and what BoZ said.

I think Margaret is the last song recorded but Candy Necklace was recorded a bit before that. Who knows, maybe CN was considered to be scrapped at some point but finally made the tracklist (BoZ talked about a lot of drama behind the scenes) Is there a snippet for Margaret? If not, it would explain why Margaret and Candy Necklace don’t have any, since they were added last and leakers might not have them.

What is Kalmia?!? I think it could be someone that uploaded a « LDR track » like they did with Queen of disaster or Serial Killer, before Apple Music deleted it. Also, it was in the classical genre?!?

My main problem with BB is that it’s one song or two too long, especially with the piano-only tracks. It’s also a bit tricky, to rely on minimalist production for a subject matter as « obtuse » as motherhood, for which the audience might not relate (throughout all of her albums, there are always songs I don’t connect with but the production was interesting enough that I ended up loving those songs as well, like Art Deco or Carmen or even Florida Kilos; on BB, it’s another matter). So, maybe Beautiful could have had the chop (even though I’m one of the few that love it), or keep either Sweet Caroline or Cherry Blossom. Nectar of the Gods is not a fan-fave but I love it so much (and it’s guitar and not piano haha). Living Legend, I’ll have to give it another chance because apart from the wha wha wha part, I don’t love it.

Pop Leaks, on Twitter, said there was a LDR collab with a pop/rock group… In the comments, people said they knew it was Bleachers, but I doubt that is the band they are referring to… And yeah, I know this account is not 💯 reliable (but they did say she’d release in December… and also stating that we’d get a second single in February - when we already knew A&W would be out like the week after that post )

Yeah it did. Canada could sell the album the week before, vinyls from her store got delayed (in part at least).
