  1. Idk, I think the title track of this record is one of her more abstract and contemplative songs to date. At the end of the song, we see the blue banisters changing colors, possibly representing the place she is today or the place she wants to be, where the women and friends in her life uplift her from the state of sadness she was once in. Yeah, pretty much what @Super Movie said.
  2. I much prefer Blue Banisters as an album title. Given the fact that many of the songs so far touch more deeply into her personal history, the name Blue Banisters has more personal, homely resonance to me than Arcadia does.
  3. Just like Honeymoon was a synthesis of Born to Die's Old Hollywood imagery and Ultraviolence's emotional devastation, Blue Banisters will be a synthesis of Norman Fucking Rockwell's emotional connection to its listeners while exploring the singer-songwriter poetics of Chemtrails Over the Country Club.
  4. I honestly don't give a shit whether or not Lana makes piano ballads or not. It's never been a bother to me like it bothers a lot of people. Lyricism is one of the most important aspects of music in my perspective, so whether Lana is turning her poetry into a track that has more production to it or something more stripped down, if there is thought put into the lyrics, I know that I'll enjoy it. (Why songs that just sound lazy lyrically such as Happiness is a Butterfly, Guns and Roses, In My Feelings, Coachella, White Mustang have nothing on well written tracks like all of the Blue Banisters singles or most of Chemtrails for example). Also, all of her piano ballads have been drastically different from each other. I never understood the big gripes people have with piano based tracks. She's fine tuning her craft.
  5. thinking about how much i need the "California" demo
  6. I don't have to be fair about anything, it's my opinion What I said can still be applied to at least eight other songs on Lust for Life. Half the record. Which is what I said.
  7. "You can't blacken the pages with Russian poetry and be happy too" > "in your white mustang, white mustang, white mustang *whistles*"
  8. Lmao. The title track of "Blue Banisters" alone STOMPS over most of Lust for Life.
  9. I've been listening to the released Blue Banisters tracks in order for the past few days, and I have to say that this record sounds like it's going to join the heavy hitters of UV and Norman as one of her most well respected albums. Funny that a lot of the re-used material is from the Ultraviolence days Keeping it clear that I do think Honeymoon is her best and most cohesive album, it still isn't much appreciated outside of her core fanbase. There's something about Ultraviolence, Norman and now Blue Banisters that I think a wider audience is going to respect. And by respect, I don't mean streaming numbers or number of copies sold.
  10. Her best title track and definitely in the top ten, if not five, of her catalog. I'm on the run with you my sweet love... Anyways, "Blue Banisters" is still my favorite of the era. All are incredible though.
  11. me listening to Pawn Shop Blues, Arcadia, Video Games, Old Money, Terrence Loves You, Change, Let Me Love You Like a Woman/Yosemite and Mariners Apartment Complex, the heart of each album
  12. Maybe I was onto somethin' with my "three act" theory.... In that post she said this record is about "what happened, what it was like, and where we are now." The three acts may not correspond to those three things exactly, but I do get a sense that the first act is about a search. A search whether it is for the father she wanted back, the man who promised her that he would come back to paint her banisters blue, or an escape to Arcadia. The second act, if I had to guess, would be songs firmly planted in the present. The final act, with songs such as Cherry Blossom, Living Legend, Wildflower Wildfire are more idealized/idyllic/maternal tracks that contrasts majorly from the first act, and the result of what she found from her search. Edit: she's not necessarily searching for the man in the title track, but the imagery of the flowers that were dry, the picture on the wall that shifts into very specific memories, reminds me of a digging up of the past
  13. and I think it's interesting how the one song where we get insight into her relationship with her mother, Wildflower Wildfire, is in the same section of the record as Cherry Blossom, a very maternal and nurturing song, and Living Legend. This is going to be the deepest look into Lana as a person and what has made her the person she is today. You can't blacken the pages (her history) with Russian poetry and be happy....
  14. I can't make up my mind on this, but do y'all think Text Book works as an opening track?
  15. If we get one more single from the album before the release: 1. What song do you think it will be? 2. What song do you want it to be? Doesn't have to be mutually exclusive either
  16. 1. Blue Banisters 2. Thunder 3. Arcadia 4. Living Legend 5. Violets for Roses (I get "Bartender" vibes)
  17. I never know what to expect with her song titles. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more of a transitory track between the bluesy, theatrical aspects of the first part and into the other I thought Venice Bitch was going to be the dumbest song i've ever heard, but it turned into a 9 minute long masterpiece
  18. I think there will be three acts for some reason, organized by sound or lyrical content. I think the second act is where most of the hard hitting, edgier songs will be Act One: Text Book Blue Banisters Arcadia The Trio Black Bathing Suit Act Two, more of a rock edge: If You Lie Down With Me Beautiful Violets for Roses Dealer Thunder Act Three: Wildflower Wildfire Nectar of the Gods Living Legend Cherry Blossom Sweet Carolina
  19. Arcadia gets better and better with each listen. Contender for one of her best choruses...of her entire catalog?
  20. Fingertips

    Song vs. Song

    Terrence Loves You vs Arcadia
  21. the whole album has pretty much "leaked," we're just waiting on which of Thunder/Nectar/Cherry Blossom/Living Legend has been reworked a little and which haven't
  22. Just listened to Text Book, Blue Banisters, Arcadia and Wildflower Wildfire and..I feel so sorry and sad for those of you who just dismiss these as snooze-fest piano ballads They are sublime.
