I don't think I saw that exchange, but no, FT, you haven't been rude to me. No one has in eons.

About the time of NFR!, this was a wild west of outrageous attacks; absolutely anything in terms of expression seemed to have been acceptable. LanaBoards is 100% improved since that time. And everyone, my advice is to use the block feature if necessary. It's there for a reason.

    Thanks, Vertimus. Appreciate you.

Disagreeing respectfully even before the songs had leaked was an interesting take in it of itself, but sure

Here goes that attitude again, I have had respectful conversations with you before, and we have agreed or agreed to disagree, but this whole "omg stfu" whenever someone brings a bit of nuance or try to be like "okay let's not get ahead of ourselves here lol" is getting tired. Resulting to insult other users over music opinons is the weirdest take you can take to me.

You're the one who made it personal first, sweetie pie! I was minding my business until you accused me of being rude to @Vertimus, when I wasn't. Read what you wrote, and if you still don't understand why many people on this forum can't stand your condescending attitude, then read it again until you get it.

You literally take issue with anyone that doesn't say that this album is the most revolutionary, or most complex/forward, Lana Del Rey album ever released.

    1. The album isn't out yet, we've only heard like 5 songs in standard quality.

    2. Can an album just be an album, and we take time to digest it? Which, you know, happens after it's released and you had time to listen to more than once from that to finish--so you can actually form an opinion? :blush3:

    Spoiler

Can you shut up and leave me the fuck alone? I was having a discussion with @Vertimus in a respectful manner. I thought you were all about having opinions on a message board. I wasn't rude to him, I wasn't attacking him, I was sharing my opinion. How about YOU practice what you preach. HOW ABOUT YOU STOP READING SPOILER TAGS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ US TALKING ABOUT THE ALBUM YOU FUCKING MORON.

  4. Spoiler

@Vertimus I have to disagree on both counts with you here on this one. Her vocals are very much in the foreground of this record; so much so that her voice becomes another instrument in the soundscape. Also, I think the people who are praising this record so far are the ones most sympathetic towards Blue Banisters, and Sweet is nowhere near as bland as "Beautiful"

  5. Spoiler

The last line of The Grants speaks to me because I think it encapsulates this entire record. "It's a beautiful life, remember that, too, for me." Despite all of life's challenges, struggles, turmoil, and loss that she unravels throughout the album (suicide, rape, death, depression, hatred, trauma), there is also a glimmering beauty of hope that can be found by following your muse and staying faithful to your own path that will guide you back to a better home as expressed by a variety of symbols that pervade the album: the tunnel under ocean blvd, God's three white butterflies, Aphrodite/Serene Queen, her house on Genesee in the North Country, etc. I think it's such an evocative line that echoes throughout each and every song we've heard so far. She seems to be asking us listeners to not just remind her of the beauty of hope in the face of a crushing existence, but to also remind ourselves of the beauty of life as we continue to walk our own paths, facing our own personal struggles.

question for the ones who’ve listened to some of the snippets: what genres/vibes are we getting from the margaret/taco truck snippets? i don’t want to listen to these two until the album comes out but i’m super curious about what they sound like.

    Spoiler

Margaret: late 80's/early 90's really cute and sweet pop song, with moments where she begins talking (it works)

Taco Truck: A more NFR onwards sounding kind of Florida Kilos type of track.

  7. How about you wait and listen to the album first before you send yourself into a nervous breakdown from people's differing perspectives about the music, @anwdelrey. You've been asking the same questions, (does it sound like BB or NFR????)  for the past few days. Take the wide variety of responses as your answer and make your own judgements about the music. Thanks.

Kendrick Lamar (an artist that I love and admire) got Kodak Black on his latest album for a feature and a whole ass interlude. No headlines were made about it, even though Kodak Black pleaded guilty in all charges of sexual assault and battery that were made against him.

Let’s not pretend there’s not a clear agenda pointed at certain artists, most if not all of them female ones. Rosalía gets shit for appropriating gypsy culture but Bruno Mars is a literal culture vulture and no one bats an eye. Kim Petras and Doja Cat get a lot of online hate because of their association with Dr. Luke while Dr. Luke himself continues to work steadily as ever.

This isn’t to say Lana shouldn’t be criticized or questioned when/if the situation is serious and requires critical thinking but I’m also not interested in this angle of perpetually prosecuting women for “wrongdoings” or questionable stuff when their male counterparts continually get free passes. Why isn’t no one talking about how Morgan, Chris Brown, etc got to preserve their careers intact instead?

    EXACTLY.

I haven’t listened to the leaks cause I want the whole experience altogether but I just want to know is this album really one of her best ones yet?

for reference, my favourite albums are Honeymoon and NFR and I always listen to them cover to cover. So I just wanna know if it’ll be the same with Ocean Blvd for me? 😬

    Spoiler

If your favorite albums are Honeymoon and NFR, you will more than love this album. Those are my previous favorites, and after hearing the five songs I've heard from this album, I know it will dethrone Honeymoon for me. I promise you that :)
