  1. Accept as they are, and change to what you like once downloaded. I do it all the time. I will probably change the TG title to ‘The Greatest Loss’ tomorrow morning when I get the iTunes version.
  2. What is the ‘culture’ line? It’s ‘lit’ or ‘licked’ or something else?
  3. Does the fact that Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys drowned in 1983 at 39 play any role? He also made that depressing album, ‘Pacific Ocean Blue,’ which I don’t care for personally.
  4. Maybe in TG she’s ‘the last girl on Earth’ again, but this she’s somehow gotten herself to Mars.
  5. I agree, and Cacciatore’s scenario in his post above would be even better.
  6. Full agree. There’s a “ground control to Major Tom” theme suggested in this song, so that it could be or almost be interpreted as being sung by someone from Earth watching the world be destroyed from a distant planet (like Mars) via a ‘live stream.’ Why does the narrator miss LA, NYC, rock n’ roll? Where is she that she misses them and can’t access them? Losing Earth certainly would be the greatest loss of all. Apologies for the double post.

  8. Those who are reading TG as a sign-off to her career or at least this phase of it, remember she did something similar on HM with ‘Swan Song.’
  9. It’s got to be that and it’s got to be his skin tone/race.
  10. Calling everyone a racist is just standard currency now. Ignore it. Don’t let it bother you. She has a strong, consistent record of working with Black artists as equals and her dancers are Hispanic. No one can undo that.
  11. Did it get leaked? If you have to pay for it officially, as most or all of us did here, then it didn’t get leaked. Maybe the release via Google Play jumped the gun, but it’s not clear yet that that’s what happened.
  12. I think the full melody is going to take time to emerge, at least for me.
  13. I am surprised there was not a reprise of the refrain at the end of TG. I would have preferred that. It could have been the biggest climax in all her music. But pretty amazing nonetheless. I am not disappointed. And her voice sounds great, so fluid on the ‘g-g-g-g-g-reatest loss of all.”
  14. I am most looking forward to The Greatest, California, Love Song and Bartender, in the order, and then NFR. Least: TNBAR, HTD and HIAB. Are we sure Rick produced Bartender? Do we have verification??
  15. I'm glad some here care about the difference between speculation and fact. Thanks.
  16. If she releases one or both of the new videos in the next three weeks, we’ll have one or two more new songs before the NFR release l, and I don’t think LDR wants to do that, especially as we already have four complete tracks. But as we know from this era, anything is possible.
  17. I don’t know what the larger meaning or context might be, but when a person with a male lover they’re really into reflects on the man they’re missing, I think that that is something they miss, if we’re really honest about it and not being too old maid-ish or queasy.
  18. It could also be a reference to seminal fluid, as in the 2003 Blondie song, ‘Good Boys,’ which has lyrics that go, “You got me on your face/a big disgrace.”
  19. I know she used the paper on BPBP, because we’ve seen video footage of it, but do we know how many other LFL tracks she used it on?
  20. There is a fair amount of good production on LFL but also a fair amount of bad, too much. Especially on GBA and WTWWAWWJKD. It’s mostly the over-complication of the background sounds as well as the sound quality itself. I also don’t like smaller points, like in BPBP where she and SN are supposed to be harmonizing and yet SN holds the note longer, and no retake was done, so it sounds amateurish. On ‘Change,’ how LDR pronounces ‘beings’ as ‘be-ins’ jumps out at me, and Rick didn’t apparently point that out to her. And on ‘Coachella,’ why the awkward stress in the word ‘parents’?
  21. A lot of people here have been saying that for awhile. I think it’s a new stripped-back approach (and also ‘good taste’) in response to the messy, overcrowded, generally terrible production on LFL as a whole. Jack probably said to LDR, “We can do so much better than that.”
