  1. i'm not sure about who produced which demos, maybe lanapedia lists them, but the first demo is from 2010
  2. every person on planet earth named lana reading this post like
  3. it's... literally just a hair color
  4. her randomly singing for k, pt. 2 at a soundcheck yayo and gramma music video clips being featured in her tour visuals live debut of flipside just the festival tour in general...
  5. serene queen being a random rough demo made in one day is just so crazy i can only imagine what the other outtakes are like, i bet they're fabulous
  6. somebody could try but there's no way he's actually going to do that
  7. but marina wasn't vaguely criticizing capitalism while on the same album also having a track bragging about being a millionaire
  8. mystery solved! it's nice to know it's a version we already have, i would say it would be cool to have another version of it existing... but perhaps it's for the best that there's not yet another song to dream of that we'll likely not ever hear i wonder if her session with paolo de gregorio was one of her first, if not, the first studio session she ever did
  9. i can't believe BOZ described serene queen as bottom of the barrel, if that's bottom of the barrel i cannot begin to imagine what the more complete, top of the barrel lust for life outtakes are like, i remember it was quite the event when serene queen leaked i actually kinda wonder if we're possibly running dry on lizzy grant stuff, since majority of lizzy song music leaks from the past few years have actually come from the march 2009 demo CD we just found out about, even songs that leaked a few years ago, like i learned how to make love from the movies and trash magic demo 1 came from it, as well as some of the song titles revealed by honeymouns in summer of 2020, such as neon palmmm, beach boys, wolf t-shirt, meth love, etc. we have pretty much everything from that CD now, so there may not be a lot of lizzy grant stuff going around, but you never really know, it feels like there's always so much more, it's crazy to think about the fact that she probably recorded 100s of demos during that time, some of which we may never get the chance to hear
  10. get drunk - august 14, 2007 mermaid motel (demo) - september 6, 2007 i'm sure the rest are all from 2007, likely summer and/or fall of 2007
  11. i think it's a cool thread, especially since it also lists all of the information we get in the past year in one place
  12. we learned SO much information in 2023, it's pretty difficult to really comprehend it all, being a lipster really is the gift that keeps on giving...
  13. how did we find out that beatles funhouse party is actually the instrumental for catch and release?
  14. wearin' blonde hair HAH!
  15. that just makes me love oh say can you see even more than before, if that's even possible to think it was so special and personal to her, i can see why, it's so blissful, dreamy, and comforting
  16. i wish people would stop blaming the producers entirely for the sound they don't like when ultimately lana's the one who decides how the music sounds, nobody's forcing her to work with any particular producer or to make her music sound a certain way, she worked with mike dean of all people and still made a piano ballad
  17. i don't really believe she hated it or wasn't at all satisfied with the result, because she still made music videos for a majority of the songs, uploaded them onto her social media platforms like myspace and soundcloud, and performed the songs in david kahne-esque renditions (notably mermaid motel), but i also kinda believe she wanted it to be more similar to steven mertens' demos compared to david kahne's production, i believe in the past she would describe her first album (AKA) being made by her boyfriend which obviously isn't exactly the truth, since AKA is produced by david kahne, but she seemed to appreciate the work she did with steven mertens, and his versions of AKA songs are definitely different compared to the david kahne versions, queen of the gas station was more mellow, mermaid motel was a lot more free-form, trippy, almost like her own kind of epic, and put me in a movie had more prominent instrumentation like the electric guitar, i feel like her live performance of it at the mercury lounge is a lot more similar to the steven mertens version, also, brite lites was more rock-oriented, but on the contrary, the ocean and kill kill are very, very similar not to mention the fact that gramma and smarty were written in the studio, so they weren't songs she originally wrote and had in mind for the album, but that isn't to say she didn't like them or feel connected to them, smarty was uploaded to soundcloud at some point and she wouldn't have made...7? 8? videos for gramma if she didn't like it! it's hard to say exactly for sure how everything went down and how everybody felt surrounding the project, i'm sure there's some songs she wanted to include on the album, like get drunk, trash magic, or pin up galore, that david kahne just didn't think would make the cut, or maybe she just envisioned the final product to be different, but all we can really do is speculate, i do believe she was happy with and proud of the album at the end of the day, but it does have a complicated history, especially since i'm sure at some points she probably felt she couldn't talk about or acknowledge that time of her career because everybody in 2012 was so convinced she was a fake, talentless industry plant who changed her entire identity because her first album flopped, and i'm sure people at the time perceived it to be a cheap, low-effort, basic flop, but it's really one of her most fascinating eras and it 100% deserved better lastly... i'm so, so glad they didn't let her add/remove any tracks lol, i think the album is absolutely perfect, down to the tracklisting of each individual song, i'm actually glad they changed it from the original one starting with for k, pt. 2, ending with mermaid motel, and having yayo as the fourth track because that one just made no sense
  18. honestly i found myself totally satisfied with leakmas 2023 for star lux and beach boys alone but i do understand i'm in the minority
