Random, but I've just been watching Glow Up on BBC3 and they played the unreleased track Fashion (is it Fame era?) throughout the show... How do they get the rights to use unreleased music?
-
definitely gonna get myself a copy of the book, would've been nice if they had of done it as deluxe CD, like with the disc included in the book... thoughts?
-
I mean a side b would be the dream! but I was thinking more like what The Weeknd did with after hours? A couple new tracks a week or 2 later

i know she said we wouldn't get a deluxe version of Charli, however, I'd be so down for a deluxe edition of this if the pandemic continues through summer... she's already got the material

Yeah like many have said, PRISM was supposed to be a dark album, I remember the first interview and she was like "it's about to get fucking dark" and I think some of those moments are there (By The Grace Of God, Choose Your Battles and even Miss You More which was a reject later used on Witness). But by the time Roar was announced, the album was confirmed to be PRISM and I guess the concept was there about it being a light and joyful album. I never really understood the whole Teenage Dream funeral aesthetic, just for her to come back with Roar haha. I guess after the huge success of that era and the reissue, it was a way of closure and marking a new era.

I agree that Charli has been much more interactive with fans in terms of her creation, compared to previous albums. Giving us an insight into her writing and recording process, allowing us to vote on artworks, pick singles etc. Giving us lots of teasers and info we wouldn't normally get and even the zoom meetings were fun to interact with her! However, I do think she sold this album to fans as a collaboration between us and her initially. I vividly remember her saying she wanted to hear our beats, our lyrics, our melodies, our ideas, she wanted to see fans artwork etc. Now, I don't know whether this misinformation was intentional, to get fans on board - with the outcome always being her final say. Or whether the logistics of sampling and crediting fans became an issue with this being dropped by a major label. Either way, I can understand fans disappointment with the process not being quite how we expected... The initial idea was sold to us as fans working with Charli to make an album. And ultimately it was fans got to have some say in terms of what got released when etc. But at the same time, maybe it was naive of us to think she'd be able to pull off such an ambitious project like she hoped. But there's no need to argue haha.

So, if there's merch is there any chance of a physical copy of the album? I mean at this point it'll be 9 pages so unsure what the situation is the book...

I wish, honestly I said from day 1, she should do a Vroom Vroom type cover... But she said she was shooting the album cover, so I guess it's a photo of her.

I do get you and I guess it would be a way of defining this album - but we know Huck has a camera, he took those photos of her for that magazine cover last month and they were great. So she has the resources, I just hope she puts some thought into the album art, the singles have been nice and it kinda works for the singles with the homemade videos. I just think there should be more care with the album cover, so here's hoping haha

Ugh, I wish I could agree but like all of her album covers are flawless, like legit, they all work together but as individual bodies of work. I know she's spoken about having synesthesia and how that affected her album art, but like it really shows. The album covers perfectly capture the sound and her vision. It would be shame that the upcoming album (potentially her best work) would be let down by the art. And I know to some people it's a minor thing but look at Britney's Glory album... Many fans and critics have said that the new artwork excellerates the experience and completes the album package.

Well we know Huck has some form of camera that isn't and iPhone, so fingers crossed we'll get something from him for the album cover. I wouldn't mind if we just got something simple and sleek this time around. I know her album covers post-Vroom Vroom have been very polished and almost plastic (if that makes sense) but I'd rather something simple, if she can't achieve it.

If she really wants to give us a 2.0 from Charli, then I would've preferred Gone 2.0 (talk about the anxiety she feels being isolated), Silver Cross (about Huck), February 2017 (dunno how this would play out but just call it May 2020 and get it out)
