Exactly, I'm also glad you brought up the fact of men who wear makeup too. I tried to include that in my original post by keeping it general with "makeup-wearers" but being accepting of men wearing makeup is something that isn't talked about enough. Two of my closest guy friends wear makeup - one because he's very much into makeup artistry, and he just applied to beauty school to become a professional makeup artist. For him, he loves the art and the activity. Another because, similar to your story, he has deep acne scars from having acne in his teenage years, and wears foundation, concealer, and colour corrector on the daily to help him feel more comfortable in his skin. Again, no matter an artist or an everyday person, a man or a woman (or any gender), and for whatever reason they choose to wear makeup - it shouldn't be the sole reason someone is shut off from having an interest in a person, especially their art x

Idk it always rubs me the wrong way when non-makeup-wearers, especially men, try to judge women/makeup-wearers based on the sole fact that they wear makeup, and say stuff like "I prefer natural women." & I should note, in the example you gave of Lana, she's always had a signature makeup style but on the days she goes makeup-free, which has been pretty often for the past 3 years, I'll see tons of disgusting comments noting how "busted" she looks just because she didn't feel like glamming up. Nearly every woman wears makeup in some form, and a lot of the time, it's more makeup than you think, even for "natural" looking makeup looks. I can even sort of understand your take on not being interested in an artist if they were previously an influencer with the question of authenticity in mind, such as someone like Madison Beer (who by the way I caught her live set at a music festival in 2019 while on barricade waiting for Kali, and although her style of music isn't my cup of tea, she seemed like she was really enjoying herself onstage) but to discount an artist just because she wears makeup..?? It seems hilariously absurd to me, I'm sorry. The amount of makeup an artist, or any person for that matter, chooses to wear shouldn't be a factor to deter yourself from even giving them a chance, and it seems you're quite proud of this mindset. Wearing makeup doesn't make an artist or a person any less authentic, and people can choose to wear makeup for any sort of reason. For some it's for insecurities, for some it's a form of artistic expression, and for some it's just a fun activity they enjoy doing. I personally start nearly every day by dedicating two hours to do my makeup & hair for no other reason than because it's something I enjoy doing. It's an art form for me, and my favourite way to have a little "me" time before facing the day. I don't care if I'm just going to the grocery store, I'll wear a full face and be happy that I did. To each their own I guess, but I still think that to discount an artist and their art completely just because of the way they wear their makeup while praising other artists who go for a more "natural" look, has a tiny bit of misogyny buried in it that just doesn't sit well for me. I don't mean to come in here to the Kali Uchis thread all hot with my feminist tirade, but as a woman who is a licensed makeup artist & wears a full face of makeup on the daily because it's something that I enjoy, I'm a wee bit pressed about your take on a personal level

Ugh #justicefortigra I hope it still gets released. When I caught her set at a music festival back in 2016, she told the crowd the song would be on her upcoming album. To be fair, she actually hasn't released a full album since 2015 and it still could technically be on her next album, but I'm nervous it won't since it's been so long. It's one of my favourites, even after only hearing live versions! x

It also looks like they lowered the shipping cost.. I paid $9.26 for shipping just for the CD yesterday (which I thought seemed excessive) and today it's down to $3.99, which is much more reasonable. I emailed customer support asking if they could either refund me the difference or just cancel my order so I can re-order with the lower shipping cost, so fingers crossed lol x

For some reason, the only state I've heard of where people are placing the US signed CD orders successfully is Georgia, which ironically enough, is where I live right now lol so my CD order went through just fine. So I've had two friends already ship theirs to me so I can reship to them skkkk

This is sort of a weird take to discount an artist by their appearance and personal style choices rather than by their music/art Anyway, I just popped back in here to say that I've re-fallen in love with Drunken Babble again. About this time last year I re-discovered it and grew such an appreciation for it, after initially disliking most of it upon my first listen in 2017. Over the past year, I've grown to love it so so much - The 4-track run of Table for Two, You Just Wanna Stay, Never Be Yours, and What They Say is one of the greatest 4-track runs of all time. I keep listening to Never Be Yours on loop and don't grow sick of it - it's such a catchy bop, one of my fave tracks of hers now x

Snatched! Finding it hilarious though that I'm having a UK friend re-ship the signed bundle for me, and one of my Florida friends is having me re-ship some CDs for her a shipping nightmare. Also at the expected shipping date for the cassettes being February 19th.. Cassette Girl leak 2.0? x

Did the #2 & #3 cassettes already sell out on the French store? I just woke up and it's not giving me an option to add them to my cart

Lol I’ve edited the title to reflect where she was - I also believe the friend with her is Tatiana based on the eyebrows, but it could also be chuck x

Marina posted a snippet of an instrumental track (presumably from a song she’s working on for her upcoming record) & it sounds absolutely beautiful -

This is making me sick. Please do not victim blame or attempt to invalidate their trauma x Edit: this appears to be another situation where a user has created two accounts to participate in drama. Both accounts have been banned.

I had a dream last night that she did a private poetry reading at my house lol. There were just 6 of us there with Lana, 4 of my close personal friends and one random stan I see from time to time on twitter who I've literally never spoken to and don't even really know that much about? Not sure why he was invited. We were all just sitting around the kitchen table. She brought her own copy of Violet and read the title poem for us and two new poems from what would be in Behind the Iron Gates. One of the poems she sang instead of spoke and said it was actually meant to be a song, but because she couldn't find a production she liked, she made it into a poem instead. She also brought this huge rose quartz crystal with her and at the start of one of the poems she held it up to her cheek, and began with the line "Twinkle twinkle little star..." (this is probably bc I was replaying Nicki Minaj's "Starships" on loop right before I went to sleep which features this line. A bop.) After she was finished reading, she chatted with us for a bit. One of my friends & the random twitter stan were talking to her about Mariah Carey, which somehow led her to talking about her hand tattoos. My friend told her that I wanted the same "Trust No One" tattoo on my hand but wanted her to write it out of me. (Which I don't. I used to though, because the Trust No One sentiment is always true. This moment probably made an appearance in my dream because I posted a picture of her w that hand tattoo in the COTCC Merch Drop Thread yesterday lol.) She agreed but didn't have a pen, so we went rummaging through some drawers together until we found a thin red sharpie & a thick black one. She wrote out the phrase on my hand with the red, and on a piece of paper with the black. I asked her if she'd also be willing to sign my copy of Violet, so I went looking for it, but for some reason it was a paperback version with a white background beneath the oranges instead of the green leaves (which I knew wasn't right, I was even confused in my dream) and I had scribbled the alphabet (??) in blue pen all over the cover and on the side of the book. I didn't remember doing this and was sort of upset that I had apparently defaced my copy of Violet, so Lana gave me her copy she brought with her and signed it for me. Then we started talking about touring, and I told her I had last seen her in Wichita. She said she loved the midwest, but felt more nervous playing in front of the smaller crowds in small theaters than for the larger crowds at arenas. The dream ended somewhere during that conversation talking about touring & shows, and I then woke up with even more enhanced concert fever. I miss seeing Lana at shows so much, but at least she makes appearances in my dreams every now and then lol x

oh yes, I remember!! Hi! I'd love to revive that forum, and have even considered creating some other sister forums for other artists who are popular here once I have more financial means to do so.. but by the looks of it, I don’t think I should be adding Sky to my list of artist sister forum possibilities x MarinaBoards was quite small, but it was still enjoyable! It'd just be nice to relive the old memories.. I met lots of friends from there! I wanted to buy it off of the original owner in the first place, but could only afford one at the time so I picked LanaBoards instead.. and now MarinaBoards/DiamondGarden has been left dead by her new owner rip x Edit: omg I just typed in the old diamond garden url to see if it was still dead and.. do NOT go there guys

Yes, being disrespectful to those who struggle with addiction can be really harmful not only to the target of the remark, but by other people who also struggle who may view the comment. & Yes, I believe my MarinaBoards account was also called Elle! I wasn't on there too terribly often, but I do miss it.. I actually tried to get in touch with the new owner earlier this year, but couldn't get ahold of her. If I could, I'd be interested in reviving it if she can no longer keep up with it! x

Please everyone remain respectful in your criticisms. There was a certain comment left here that was very out of line, and the user has been warned. As always, feel free to voice any thoughts or opinions you may have, but please do not make any offensive remarks while doing so. Thank you x

*checks IP & email to verify if this claim is legit* ... --- Either way, this quick picture disc squabble just enforces the lesson fans need to learn: if the information didn't directly come from an official LDR source, doubt everything. & remember to:

I was wayyyy too shy to try to ask him for something, but my friends & I ended up speaking with him for like 15 minutes after the show while waiting for Lana out by her tourbus. He told us some pretty silly Lana stories, like how she's so afraid of spiders that she once tipped over a canoe they were in because there was a spider on it. Someone else had asked about her learning to fly a plane and he started talking about how she had once written a song about flying a plane, so I started singing some of the lyrics to Aviation and he looked at me very stunned and said, "Yes, that's the song!" He's super, super cool and I feel honoured to have spoken to him for so long with my friends. @CHIPCHROME was one of the friends there talking to him with me! I just wish I had been that confident a few hours earlier when free merch was on the table lol x
