I think you just cracked the code... this is all happening because Azealia casted a curse on Lana that made her become a weird wacko who prefers to go on with that instagram shit rather than focus on her carrer, it all makes sense! I never said the song is BAD, I even think it's better than Born To Die (sue me), however, among her other title tracks this one is a little weak but I love the atmosphere the song creates, especially the pre-chorus section. Anyway the song is cute but it's probably the weakest on the album (I'm not counting Coachella because for me that song doesn't even exist) and the original version had potential to be 10x better and more interesting.

Now that you mentioned that... you know who's poetry it reminds me of? Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl (the books, not tv show) lmaaaaaaaaaao the way they put things together is very similar and the overall work its just not good. I always despised his poetry, I think Cecily did his poetry bad on purpose tbh it goes with the character.
