"Old Money" has been haunting me since the first listen.  And the more I listened, the more I was playing flims in my head.  Finally, I realized that Old Money and Gatsby are made for each other.  I combed through the entired film Wednesday and I think the video really captures the feelings I get.

Please let me know what you think!

Well it's all down to personal opinion but why would you say UV lyrics are better than BTD?
    I mean come on....

    Feet don't fail me now
Take me to the finish line
All my heart, it breaks every step that I take
But I'm hoping that the gates,
They'll tell me that you're mine
    Walking through the city streets
Is it by mistake or design?
I feel so alone on a Friday night
Can you make it feel like home, if I tell you you're mine

    Or

Put my little red party dress on
Everybody knows that I'm the best, I'm crazy
Get a little bit of Bourbon in 'ya
Get a little bit suburban and go crazy
    Because you're young, you're wild, you're free
    You're dancing circles around me
    You're fucking crazy
    You're crazy for me

??? shes got lyrics from other people and talking about 'her baby' and boyfriends in a lot of UV, how is that not filler and how is that depth? btd lyrics are far and away more story telling, entertaining and make more sense (this is what makes us girls, carmen, filler? are you kidding?). uv doesn't even have a 'OTTR' pssh.

i cant believe anyone would choose uv over btd

Most of BTD is, in my opinion, just filled with words that sound pretty and go together well.

hm that's funny because I think that's the perfect description for UV. (if you remove the go together well part. It was painfully obvious that Lana has lost her creativeness lyrically and just includes stuff she knows her fans will eat up and have loved in the past. ie references of drug usage, supposed 'tragic' love relationships that never last and are doomed from the start, interest in creepy men and just men in general & looking pretty in a variety of dresses + references to poets, authors, icons and dead musicians (aka her friends) that work 1/5 times. Add a little cussing to that/mention of a bad boi and a bad gorl getting high on sum hydroponic weed at some tropial mystical place with some mellow old hollywood music and it's tumblr's wet dream & a new LDR album)

But anyway different strokes 4 different folks I guess

he's saying shes lying and is making this up

Saw this comment on YT and it made perfect sense:

The entire video is actually in the time span of the bridge scene and what we see after is what's in his head.

The guy is driving thinking about Lana (like a flash back memory while your driving alone at night)... And the end of the video, it's back to the bridge scene.

i don't get why everyone loves florida kilos and says that the chorus to guns and roses is boring when the chorus to florida kilos is "yayo" x1000000

Same, the verses are so off to me. I don't care for it but I love the chorus.

This was a million times better than the WC video (for me at least). I love the simplicity of the video as a whole and the bond/70s theme it gives off. The Lolita/Daddy thing helped further evolve her story that she is trying to tell in this era.
The pool scene has inspired me to spend my summer practicing how to swim that sexually, while also getting out of the pool with such grace and sophistication. In addition, I will be studying how to seductively eat a strawberry while holding a cigarette....(kidding).

Most critics judge the album as a pop album made by american popstar. So there is obvious they miss "uptempo tracks". I dont agree fully with them but I admit the album needed more light hearted tracks.

To me SOC and BB are pretty Barrie-esque.

i'm cynical enough to believe she doesn't take much of a liking to us but who knows
what concerns me more is the fact she didn't recognize Barrie, who was at least involved in one song...
they probably argued the day before she finalized it and she pulled a "Kill Kill" on Barrie

It it just me, or is West Coast one of the WEAKEST tracks on here? I mean, EVERYTHING IS SO STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL, it just pales in comparison.

I think "I could have died..." Is more to be interpreted like this Summertime Sadness bit "got my bad baby by my heavenly side, I know if I go, I'll die happy tonight", meaning, she's fully satisfied, as long as she's with her man.

Actually, I FELT the same way. You can go ask the sistren on Atrl.net who got me banned because of my rant. Lol
But I saw the light... Let it in sistren.

Let it SINK in. Appreciates the imperfections of the album that's why it's so great.

The vocal performance on this album is NOT POP whatsoever. They are not clean but they serve a purpose.

The songs are SCATTERED with very awkward unusual melodies e.g Cruel World, Sad Girl, Pretty When You Cry, Brooklyn Baby (most of the album tbh)

BTD is so clean and perfect... The melodies are beautiful but they are very "safe" and "typical" with punchy beat and hooky chorus.

UV is like someone beat and punch BTD.

Hhmmmmm how to express this properly:

    BTD:

    UV:

If you let the light in (it's cruel world) you will be able to see thee BEAUTY in both.

And to finish... it's tune less. It's amateur. What on earth was she thinking. It's like she pressed a career self destruct button.
Drivel like Florida Kilos, Fucked My Way. Dear god alive. To think she abandoned a completed album along the lines of black beauty...
    Am I on my own?

I can't even be bothered to read the critics reactions. Why? Cos the only opinion that matters to me about it is mine.
BTD is my fave album of the last decade probably. It's immense. It's luscious. It's painfully beautiful.
UV is almost painful for me. Most songs sound the same . Most vocals are poor in comparison to BTD. The songs and her vocals have lost their beauty for me. I like 3 songs so far. Really hoping it's gonna be a grower. As I've said before, I am a huge Lana fan but not a Lizzy fan. The record company must be crapping themselves.
