    Song vs. Song

    Hollywood's Dead vs. Kill Kill
  4. Going to take a Benadryl so I can fall asleep super early tonight, haha. I have work tomorrow, so I need my sleep. God, tomorrow is going to be fun. We'll all be freaking out.
  5. Her show runs from 10:00-12:45 UK time, which is 5:00-7:45 AM in EST.
  6. The radio show starts in 28 hours, I believe.

    Damn You vs. Hawaiian Tropic
  8. And Black Booty has the potential to be up there as well. I would replace National Anthem with Ride (assuming you've edited Blue Jeans in).
  9. Yes. Do you own a physical copy of Born to Die?
  10. I'm going to a festival and it will be very hot, so black Lana Jack Daniels t-shirt and Ralph Lauren shorts. Good mixture of artsy and preppy, haha. Haven't decided what kind of shoes to wear.
  11. I wouldn't mind something upbeat if it was kinda dreampop/indie rock influenced a la:
  12. The new guitar instrumentals on each performance really match her description of the more rock-influenced new album...can't wait.
  13. Sure, but we should open a new thread for it...or take this to the lyrical analysis thread. I feel bad derailing this one.
  14. Waiting for Monday to judge fully, but I love the lyrics.
  15. I think they can be intellectually profound on many levels when you consider her knack for emotional/psychological analysis and the type of artistic mental pictures that she paints. And I'm not drawing comparisons to Dylan and Cohen because she is a fan...I grew up listening to both and still find many similarities in their lyrics. Yes, they're from different eras, but quite reminiscent, IMO. And Lana writes in such a nostalgic manner that her social critiques and evocations of Americana parallel the 60s Laurel Canyon vibes of the aforementioned artists.
  16. The awards are for 2013 and BTD was presumably recognized for the spike in sales in the last year a la their rewarding Ellie Goulding for Lights two years after its release.
  17. I've been a fan since the Lizzy Grant days and I love AKA and several songs from Sirens. No need to be rude to new fans because of their opinions.
  18. That's exactly what I was thinking. The lyrics sort of allude to her sobriety and the notion people had of not having fun unless you're drinking and Lana is saying it doesn't matter because she has the music. Then she talks about leaving, maybe referring her initial days without alcohol.
  19. That's not true at all, IMO. Both told personal stories through their lyrics as much as Lana does...and I find the emotional resonance to be quite profound. Lana implements a bit of social/cultural commentary as well.
  20. I think she's pretty far from a pop writer, actually. Her writing is more reminiscent of Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen...and she's a bit like the Sylvia Plath of music She's known for quite often being a profound lyricist and I'm sure it will stay that way with UV
