Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

I agree that she chose songs like SK, YCBTB, and UATW for the tour because they have that seedy, crime noir feel featuring solid beats. It reminds me of all of the rock-oriented tracks she played before UV. -

Here's to hoping that the Honeymoon photoshoot is as iconic as the BTD one (and the Ultraviolence outtakes...) -

It would be nice to buy the song in HQ, but I'm glad she just shared it win fans as an intro song. It shows how much she favors her art and fans over the commercial side of things -
These weight comments are ridiculous. She's at a healthy, normal weight now. She seriously needs to lighten her hair and change the style, though.

Miles Davis-esque songs would be slower and jazzier, perhaps with horns. Muddy trap is what confuses me....I think of dark indie pop like Off to the Races meets Mermaid Motel or something by FKA. -

I'm hoping that Lana just forgot to log out from the Honeymoon account when she followed the reindeer. -

Of course it sold a lot less, but I think it still sold fairly well considering the sales climate and the other factors I mentioned. It was like the third best-selling female album of the year. Most importantly, they both continue to chart and haven't fallen off since their releases. Longevity and quality are what's important. -

Give it a rest. I'm just saying that it shouldn't be the top priority over the quality of the music, and that I don't think she's in "desperate" need of a hit. -

You can sell well without hits, though. It's tough, but alternative singers do it in the current sales climate. Even Born to Die was close to platinum before the SS remix. UV still sold pretty well considering the lack of promotion and dark, inaccessible sound. -

Why is a hit so important? I'd love for the album to sell well so that she can continue doing what she loves, but I think the quality of the music and how seriously she's taken as an artist are much more significant in the long run. -
I was just about to post something like this. The tour booklet doesn't add anything new. Listening to the live versions, I'm beginning to believe again that it is "drag and..."

To me, the song feels like a continuation of Ultraviolence (song). The object of her affection has a history of violence, but she's no longer scared despite the pain it causes. Maybe this is another chapter in her story of alcohol being her first love, maybe it's Jim and Caroline's story from the latter's perspective, or maybe Lana is just intrigued by film noir storylines.

I would die for a finished/reworked version of that song. -
I'm just teasing back I love comparing the albums when we're anticipating a new one, haha.

Ok, it's the second time and I was doing it to prove a point

I don't understand how anyone can say that Lana's music lacks experimentation or variation in sound. The lyrics might not differ much from album-to-album, but the sound definitely does. The main similarities I see rest in the natural evolution between LDR and BTD, which is ironic considering how often ignorant people try to say that she completely switched up her sound between the two albums. LDR: Indie pop/indie rock BTD and Paradise: Trip hop and baroque pop Ultraviolence: Desert and psychedelic rock Huntymoon: Jazz fusion?
