  1. Hope Is a Dangerous Thing is her closest territory to Father John Misty lyrically and she carries it off very well imo. The iPad line is unironically great.
  2. While reading Hell's Angels it totally dawned on me that this is exactly what inspired this song... The book details that there is a mantra that is commonly seen on the vests of riders, DFFL - Dope Forever, Forever Loaded Clearly, that is the where the chorus and the title of the song derive from. That totally span me out realising she means angels in the context of Hell's Angels...
  3. Shades of Cool and Cruel World solidifying their places amongst her top 5 best songs of all time
  4. Actually turned out to be a pretty insightful interview in revealing her process and intentions. Unsurprisingly it confirms that she is the one that is holding up the album, which will no doubt annoy a lot of fans but it's whatever. It feels like this is the way she has always been if you look back to her myspace accounts, her youtube channel and overall very scattered online presence. We know she had 100s of songs but only directly shared a handful she liked. I think she is really enjoying living a simple life and she has always said she writes the best when she is happy, Video Games came out of "giving up" trying to make it happen. She has put out albums so rapidly since she became famous and it has been of a really consistent quality, she doesn't owe us anything. I personally think Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch and Sylvia are some of her best songs so I'm sure the album is going to be like interchangeably in her top 3 albums. I understand it's the fact that it is literally done and has been for a while and she has no intention of putting it out that is annoying people but for whatever reason right now doesn't "feel" like the right time for her. I will say that I am typically very opposed to artists releasing a string of tracks that aren't really "singles" before an album because it just lessens the impact of hearing an entire body of work in one serving and kind of diminishes the status of it as an album, so I'm not a fan of her choosing that route. I'm now just wondering what the Steven Klein shoot was for because her tweet was ambiguous enough for it to be either the album cover or a V mag story. Her not having a plan would prob negate it being for V.
  5. Monumental album that absolutely lives up to the hype and cultural shockwaves it created, rightful album of the year winner, incomparable artist, greatest of all time etc
  6. So gross how concerned some of you are with a singer's appearance in their day to day life. So bad
  7. I Can Fly came on shuffle I always loved this song. I gotta watch Big Eyes again such a great movie too.
  8. The fact she is sitting on a finished album that she has no desire to release is hilarious. legend
  9. Been listening to this (her best album) a lot lately and present-day I can hear the Jeff Buckley influence all over it It actually makes me wonder if his live rendition of Mojo Pin somehow subliminally influenced the chorus for Video Games... Listen to 4:43 I realise it's just 2 words repeated but it really struck me
  10. Shallow best song of past 10 years i don't give a fuck
  11. Just finished listening, not one remarkable moment. Unintelligent music
  12. Literally what is the point in releasing music like this. It's half baked. They aren't fully realised songs and they aren't smarter or more worthwhile than other popular music because of it. Artists like Blood Orange can capture the same feeling but actually craft and deliver full songs.
  13. This is the best song from the A Star Is Born soundtrack
  14. There is an extended version of the movie in cinemas next week with an unheard song called Clover 16h16 hours ago
  15. I can't believe there is a new song from the movie coming out and footage from the poster shot!! She can't stop winning, it's really fun to watch
  16. Wow just googled Joan Didion. These photos look like the inspiration behind the Ultraviolence album cover. definitely going to check out her book The White Album as this sounded more interesting than slouching towards Bethlehem
  17. It's honestly so funny that Ben responds to comments about his clients like that. Legend. Going to stream Electricity
  18. then you'd all be complaining either way!! Listen to somebody else
  19. She released them because she wanted to share music with the fans. Would you have preferred the alternative - nothing up until this point? They were never singles she called them end of summer jams she just wanted to put out. The creative process is not linear, sure it was probably finished at one point now clearly she is inspired and wants to add and change things. Is that bad? Maybe your favourite song will be one she added this year.
  20. How come most of you guys are also fans of artists like the unpopular and forgotten singer Lorde who thinks she has to take 4 years to make an album because she's smarter than other artists but you have a problem with Lana who has released 5 albums in 6 years and is currently the face of a fragrance campaign and semi-regularly posts to social media. What's not clicking what's not clicking Oh and also the untalented artist marina who cannot write lyrics or sing well
  21. I am excited for this album but I don't feel the least bit impatient about it so I cannot relate to any of you guys. Perhaps find something to preoccupy you and then it comes when it comes? The songs released so far were never marketed as singles. Let the idea of a Born To Die 2012 album cycle die. She is not a new artist that needs establishing. She doesn't have to do interviews and maybe to some of your disdains she has control of her career and what she chooses not to do probably outweighs what she chooses to at this point. But that's her choice, and she still releases full albums at a faster rate than the majority of other artists.
  22. Going to listen in that order. I can already hear the flute or whatever instrument at the start of For K Part 2 makes sense as the opener For what it's worth I think the official tracklist is perfect the way it is. The epicness of Kill Kill and Yayo would be lost not being the opening and closing tracks
