Hilarious singer -
Monumental album. The shift from her previous full-length album Born To Die to this is really pretty huge. So many memories attached to this album. I remember so much excitement around the creation of this album, from the title announcement, to the tweeted pic with dan auerbach, the west coast video selfie, listening to the single premiering on the radio, first seeing the album cover on her tumblr, ME PROPHECISING her collaboration with Neil Krug!!!! My mind. Shades of Cool premiering when I was in Dubai and not having any data on my phone. Everyone discrediting the tracklist which first appeared on Amazon France as fake because the titles seemed too self-parodied but my believing it. Theorising that Brooklyn Baby was True Love on The Side. That florida Kilos was a remake of Kill Kill ( ) Thinking that the billboard in Brooklyn was a fake fan edit from a Dreamland photo!!! Listening to the album first time with nag champa burning and Cruel World literally transcending me. Waiting the entirety of the song to hear the line "It's a cruel, cruel world" and being so confused when it ended and she didn't sing it. Hearing the final version of Black Beauty.

Looooove it. She bodied this -
Has anyone ever brought this up? Whilst I was reading Joan Didion's White Album, a quote from Georgia O'Keeffe instantly struck me as being the potential inspiration for this song. "As I was working I thought of the city men I had been seeing in the East. They talked so often of writing the Great American Novel - the Great American Play - The Great American Poetry." https://uk.phaidon.com/agenda/art/articles/2014/october/07/in-praise-of-georgia-okeeffes-patriotic-palette/

I knew the verses obviously alluded to bikers, it was just me being slow that never associated angels with Hell's Angels. I thought she was singing about her and Barrie being angels. However the point remains I haven't ever seen the Dope Forever, Forever Loaded connection made with this song.

Hope Is a Dangerous Thing is her closest territory to Father John Misty lyrically and she carries it off very well imo. The iPad line is unironically great. -
While reading Hell's Angels it totally dawned on me that this is exactly what inspired this song... The book details that there is a mantra that is commonly seen on the vests of riders, DFFL - Dope Forever, Forever Loaded Clearly, that is the where the chorus and the title of the song derive from. That totally span me out realising she means angels in the context of Hell's Angels...
