Lana, If it wasn't for Born to Die, Paradise and Ultraviolence then I would have never gotten into university. Your music created my dissertation that single-handedly allowed me to get into the top film/lit course in the country. Hollywood's Dead and Damn You deserved better. it's so wack because Halsey said that the album was about removing herself from a toxic relationship and her life beyond it but why compare it to Romeo & Juliet if you think the relationship was bad? HFK doesn't really connect well because R&J more than anything is a criticism of toxic masculinity than appraisal of romance. then again she's going for the Baz Luhrmann aesthetic of his adaptation but I still don't feel it... songs like Angel on Fire, Devil in Me, Sorry and Hopeless just don't cut the symbolic allusions back to R&J because thematically they have very little in common, but idk anymore this concept is a mess

I adore HFK but like Badlands and Room 93, it just doesn't work as a concept album. It's too loose and disjointed with virtually zero cohesive narrative, and the Romeo & Juliet allusions just don't work at all. I see it more as the classic rise and fall of a starlet more than the medieval satire Romeo & Juliet actually is. That said, the visuals for the era are really good.

I listen to their EP every week. I'm so thirsty for an album. Florida Blues is otherworldly.

that was probably the greatest and most disturbing thing to ever be created for television in recent memory imo. how lynch got funding to make 18 episodes instead of 9 astounds me but we are so lucky for it. (also fire walk with me + the missing pieces together is lynch's best work don't @ me)

Hoodie, Break My Heart and My Consequence are my favs. the production at times really reminds me of Sucker, Charli would be proud
