STAY OFF MY MIND OUT NOW Every song is amazing. Melodies, instrumentals, vocal register, all off the chart. Lyrics are kinda hard to understand, but that's Skott for ya. Stay Off My Mind is adorable and all 60s-like. High notes like crazy, 4 tempo changes. In The Mood is groovy as fuck. Russian Soul is ethereal. BEATS. This Vibe is transcendent. if you're not listening to Skott yet, what are you doing.

pretty sure none of what she's doing in the studio for the next like 3 months are for her own projects

too cool was from charli's bebo page in 2008. never "leaked", it was just one of the very first "unreleased" charli songs ever found on the internet in like 2011. photography's better.

Radiohead Sues Lana for Copyright Infringement on "Get Free"

i agree, she is going to win. long analysis below. no one song owns 100% of the rights to its chord progression. as far as the creep progression goes, it's far from groundbreaking, it's just a natural voice leading progression on the guitar. anyone arrogant enough to think they invented a chord progression knows nothing about writing music. as far as melody goes, they're only similar in the way that they both sing notes in the scale. the creep progression is G - B - C - Cm get free (i should mention, only in its verses and prechoruses) is Bb - D - Eb - Ebm (once it gets to the chorus it's Bb - Gm - Bb - Gm - Bb - C - Bb - C) so they're not even in the same key, they just use the same harmonic progression. but again, who would be arrogant enough to think they own 100% of the rights to that progression? the use of secondary chords can be traced back to the fucking baroque period. as far as copyright infringement goes, even if it is decided that lana was inspired by creep for the song, the purpose and character of the work is transformative. they are her own lyrics, a very natural melody over those chords if it is decided that it's similar to creep, and completely different instrumentation. even getting 40% of the publishing for get free would be incredibly generous of lana to do, because legally, there's no reason that the songs share any striking similarities compositionally that either party could argue that they "own". lana does not sample creep, she barely even interpolates it. and even on top of all of this, there's NO logical reason to ask for 100% of the publishing rights on Get Free because they don't fucking own 100% of Creep. After they were sued by the Hollies and lost, Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood were given (and still have to this day) writing credits on Creep. they split the royalties. this is just ridiculous to me, and i'm pretty sure radiohead is going to lose this case, bigtime.- 553 replies

let's take a moment to appreciate the universe if charli never cancelled her tour in 2015 and instead had a super happy album run with sucker, she almost definitely would have gone on to collaborate with jack antonoff on xcx3, she was in the perfect spot to do it and probably make an 80s-inspired super-commercial pop release, the album would probably have come out in 2016 so it wouldve predated the saturation of jack antonoff we have in 2017 but it would probably still be his typical stadium-pop stuff but instead she started hating sucker, started getting mad obsessed w/ sophie & pc music and after cancelling her tour went overseas to make the vroom vroom ep now we've got gamechanging pc post-pop charli. nice.

http://ew.com/music/2017/12/15/charli-xcx-pop-2-mixtape-interview-new-album/ I know this is not your favorite topic, but you’ve talked before about how leaks of unreleased songs this summer threw a wrench in your plans for your third album. Have you considered putting those songs out as a separate mixtape or EP so fans have a legal way of supporting those songs, even if you’re letting them go? I mean, I don’t really want to talk about this, honestly, but here’s the thing — those songs are still really important to me, and I’m not done with them yet. That’s why it’s so frustrating. They’re still a really important part of who I am, and I hope to release them. But I’m just so honestly pissed off about it that I’m figuring out how to deal with that myself. That’s all I say on that. we really don't deserve her.

whoever said femmebot would be better without mykki needs to delete their copy of the mixtape, you don't deserve it
