  1. although i have listened to most of her albums, i do have to admit i’m not as familiar with her music other than the notorious blue. my mom used to play that, lou reed’s berlin, the rise and fall of ziggy, the hounds of love and ray of light all the time back when i was little so i have some really fond memories of those. joni’s album covers really do embody the spirit of the music itself so well, i think that’s also why i enjoyed a lot of what i heard (i have a weird thing with letting the artwork of a project dictate whether or not i like the music). recently i’ve been toying with the idea of just dedicating a whole day to give a good chunk of her discog another listen. this guy i had a huge falling out with was a huge joni fan and he’s kinda tainted a lot of wonderful artists for me (kate bush, pj harvey, tori amos, bjork, etc.), so it does get a little bit hard to not think of him whenever i do listen to them.

the whole album has been on repeat since it came out—especially real love. sonically the song reminds me a lot of the 1975 for some reason lol, this is definitely the supercut (by lorde) of the album for me. dedicated is truly everything i ever wanted and more, literally obsessed with the results.

contrary to what i’ve been reading on atrl, i find this album to have more personality than emotion looking at how quirky this is (i.e. everything he needs, real love). i think some people are doing themselves a major disservice in the sense that they desperately wanted this to be emotion 2.0 when it’s supposed to be its own thing entirely and therefore are unable to appreciate/enjoy it to the fullest extent. i found myself/my headspace relating to a lot of these new songs and i can see myself coming back to this regularly throughout the rest of the year for sure (hehe).

this is such a fun listen. i know almost everyone seems to hate everything he needs but it gives me old musical vibes, i’m totally in love with it. sounds like something they’d play at an intergalactic saloon (lol). want you in my room was one of my least favs back when i first listened to the snippets and holy cow was i wrong.. i’ll be your girl has massive “the police” undertones and i am not complaining. not done listening to the album and yet i’m still so happy with how this turned out.
  5. it’s so gorgeous... if/whenever masochism comes i don’t think i’m gonna be able to handle a collection of quality ™️ songs
  6. do we think this is a demo or the final version?
  7. a possible dev hynes collab could be on its way based on one of his latest insta posts. if it’s true... twigs is just the gift that keeps on giving huh
  8. i listened to it while i drove around and i actually really like it but... try as i might, not a lot from this era has stuck with me (looking at you hope is a keyboard smash) so far and that saddens/scares me a little. i get it’s far too early to judge nfr but idk if i’d be here for a monotonous piano ballad-driven album. that being said, i do have to admit “in your car” sounds absolutely divine from what we’ve heard.

nnnnn charlene is ruthless. LIZ’s music stopped being good after that double single anyways
  10. first post from a long-time lurker lol hello!! the amount of times i’ve seen the music video... lock me up. does the piano remind anyone else of mogwai’s take me somewhere nice? also: played this and downhill lullaby back to back the whole day and i can’t help but think of them as sister songs from now on. the artistry... whew 2019 is THAT year for comebacks.
