I’m liking all these reactions good or bad but Pitchfork’s review was a little odd considering how often they rave about Sky ddd it reminds me of them hyping up Ethel Cain for a year + enlisting her for their festival and then demolishing her amazing debut album in a horribly written review

It has a lot of replay value for me and it is so deliciously 80s… The production actually reminds me a lot of Japan’s Gentlemen Take Polaroids album? I know some people are apprehensive because the 80s sound has been done to death recently but I think if anyone knows how to use it most effectively/will pull from obscure references it’s Sky? Her voice was made for pop like this

Yeah I have both Apple Music and Spotify and the song (especially the vocals) sounds much clearer on the latter… does anyone know why?

“Jorge is in my band right now, he’s going on my tour with me. We have a really good dynamic. He’s the most ideal producer to work with — not to be like, “Oh, you know, that works with women.” [Laughs] But it’s hard to get producers at a certain point, especially when you’re starting out, to take you seriously as a producer. It’s put me in this position where now it’s taken so long that I have to prove something for the amount of time.”

About touring she said there’s shows yet to be announced as her team figures out the dates and that she’s waiting on Ariel to finish up the songs they’ve started. Some more songs coming out throughout the year as well by the looks of it, Descending seems to be up next.

If ever there was a time for her to follow up with an album, I think this is it. She seemed a little uncertain around Downhill; she had $5, an unfinished album, and scraps from her Playboy shoot with Sandy. I may be speaking out of turn as I don’t know her personally but I also feel like she’s in a much better place/looks healthier now? This could very well be another false start but with the amount of budget and actual acknowledgment from Capitol, things are looking up Little Ferrets

Charli really does put Sky and their other peers to shame like… to have her work ethic + unflinchingly maintain the quality control, she’s next level

It’s not very often that I have to do a double take on an album right after the first listen but this is such daring work, well into her career might I add. Almost every final chorus gave me whiplash

It’s tricky isn’t it? It’s hard to not let the waiting and the broken promises tarnish that appreciation we have for what music we do have from her, but I do think a lot of the frustration we have comes from a good place of wanting her to be the artist we know she can be. It’s super sad to think we could be on like album 4 rn, I assume even she gets bummed out about the very slow evolution of her career (I know I would)

I’m aware of her long long history of false starts lol I’ve been here waiting just as long as you! It is sad that at this rate wanting a simple explanation is expecting too much from her, but we don’t even know if the reason she can’t speak out is because she’s legally bound not to/if the label strung her along with false dates as well. I commend people who are mature enough to be critical of their faves, but almost every time I see you talk about her in here or ATRL it comes across a little demeaning since you always remind us how unoriginal, lazy, not so special she is, she buys all her songwriting credits (with what earnings I’d ask). All of us already know she’s not as prolific/active within her field as she should or wants to be, ofc we want her to share her creative process so certain rumors are proven true or false, we want confirmation of an album cycle after all the times we’ve been led on. We are all right there with you in your frustration but there are better ways to express it imo. Let’s ride it out and see if she proves herself with whatever is coming, but if you don’t want to wait no one will make you

They should’ve really moved up the release to tonight because we’re having the same conversations every single week ddd + some clarification from her would be nice, we can only speculate so much

I remember being mutuals with her back when she went by White Silas as her stage name, crazy to see where she’s at now and how big she will be in a few years. I haven’t kept up with her music under Ethel aside from a few scattered songs here and there, but all the reviews have me pretty psyched to dive into it (mostly blind) tomorrow night hehe!
