Yeah aside from her being a perfectionist (which turns into procrastination at some point), I don’t see why she wouldn’t want to release music… she definitely needs the profit as she’s spent whatever earnings she had trying to make this and NTMT. It gets hard to sympathize with her because of all the false starts and the constant silence but I guess we should be a little more mindful of her label circumstance. If it’s annoying for us, I can’t imagine how Sky feels knowing she could be on her third or fourth album by now if everything went smoothly and her record label backed her up. Even Fiona had a tiff with her record label circa Extraordinary Machine, this is more common than we think.

Funny you mention them, Jorge Elbrecht (the guy who’s produced Masochism with Sky) worked on a couple of tracks with them for a touch of the beat! He’s played some part in a lot of my favorite releases from Hatchie, Wild Nothing, Japanese Breakfast, etc. He’s a stand-up-guy. He happens to be tagging along for Sky’s festival run, hopefully meaning they’ll play those new songs they’ve made together.

People on twitter are dragging her over the 10 second “Used To Know Me” snippet… they’re doing too much over a harmless album she’ll probably move on from in a year lol. Crash having a more commercial sound doesn’t suddenly erase the experimentation of her other albums imo and if this one isn’t to your taste, it’s not the end of the world!

Woah I’m not saying she’s dropping a double album this month (we’d be lucky with one song), I’m saying she has racked up enough material for one + she’s expressed interest in making it a double LP back in 2016-17. It’d be in our best interest as we are never getting a third album, might as well milk Masochism lol.

I think it was 2018 when someone asked her about the sound of the album (back when she was on Twitter lol) and she said it was very sinister/abstract but also very pop. I’d be here for a double album, lord knows she’s probably sitting on dozens of songs.

I know we all like to hound her but I don’t think she is that lazy to be fair to her. Who knows how many iterations Masochism has had over the years, if anything, she overdoes it and we just don’t ever get to hear what she has to show for such a wait. Could she be more proactive in getting music out there by using any connections she has? Absolutely. However, we don’t know her contract and if she would get in trouble sharing songs without permission as there are people that produce and write with her as well that could be affected. I also think the fact that she self-funds these studio sessions is a huge pain, would it really hurt Capitol that much to give sis some semblance of a budget?

Do not cast Sky as Madonna that’ll only give her more reason to delay her main line of work (and she can’t act either lbr)

She shouldn’t have addressed all the things people said in the mentions on the original thread, now the angels are coming for the OP who had a harmless and respectful opinion. I think both are in the right as there’s a very fine line, but this was not the way to do it. If you stan an artist you’re not obligated to love everything they do, but you also have to be respectful and I notice that a lot of the stans on Twitter talk to her like she’s a commodity. Let PR run your social media for the remainder of the era Charlene!

*If* there actually is something coming out, would it be Descending or Don’t Forget? We know she’s been teasing Don’t Forget (Fire) as the single for so long + she played it for the Pitchfork interviewer but she’s only performed Descending out of the new songs. She’s so confusing nnn

I hope she knows that this has to be it… no more false starts or broken promises. She should strike while the iron’s hot and follow through with an actual album, considering all those festival slots. I’ve never seen so much support for someone whose first and only album was released almost 10 years ago. So many people are rooting for her because we know that whenever it comes (2030), it will at least be better than just good. It’s a shame we don’t hear from her as often as she/we’d like, as she has a perfect voice for pop.

Judging by the hair, she must’ve been in her teens there. It is still bad she didn’t notice at the time of course but I’m assuming she came to her senses because we’ve never seen that confederacy patch ever again + she’s been vocal about support for social movements since then. The “X” patch on the jacket is a symbol of Malcolm X and the black American flag means the opposite of the “surrender” white flag, it’s not the Blue Lives Matter flag.

She’s been very outspoken about her support for BLM for years now/raising awareness to provide resources for the Navajo Nation. The Blame Myself video really does not hold up though, aside from the controversy, it’s just bad.
