  1. Someone on twitter said she was doing it to all comments today and right away, so maybe it’s not personal. Idk. I wouldn’t blame her if it was personal though. Must be annoying for her, regardless of how it feels for us. Maybe we should just stop bugging her? It won’t make nfr come faster.
  2. I think it would be really cool if she announced NFR’s release date just before it comes out, and kept the album cover and track list and everything a secret til it came out. Let us pick up the album and see the cover for the first time and turn it over and read the track list for the first time. It’d be even cooler if the teases songs all had new titles too so we don’t know which it’ll be til it plays. Idk I love that kind of mystery. It seems like artists are too pressured to release album covers and track listings way in advance and it totally ruins the moment of awe. Also I hope Venice Bitch closes the first side/disc because that would be beautiful. But yeah I’d love a whole “the albums out in two weeks, you’ll see the cover and track listing then” type thing.
  3. I love Sweet Sucker Dance! The album that’s on (Mingus) is criminally underrated. And the other one is probably Blue Motel Room. It’s my favourite song on Hejira. And good, never give back Blue. Now you technically have a good start to your own Joni collection by having that haha.
  4. Idk why we’re calling any of her albums bad. Yeah we all have different favourites and prefer different sounds for her, but they’re all good. They all have something different special about them.
  5. I know this isn’t the comment anyone cares for, but Lana’s big change in behaviour, appearance, musical direction, lyrical content, and turning her back on her fans isn’t a new concept. Lots of artists go through a period like that and maybe I’m biased but it’s usually just before some of the best music comes. Both David Bowie and Joni Mitchell started to do this around the same point in their career. It turns away some fans, brings new ones in, and some stay through it all. It doesn’t really matter in the end though. If people don’t like nfr, she might still have another album come along that you will like and that’s ok. Artists change many many times and you don’t have to like or even agree with everything they do. And honestly if she follows all these other great artists, you’ll probably start to hate her more over the next couple albums before coming back around. Let’s hope not, but who knows. Like most artists, she’s unpredictable.
  6. I think anyone who wants to check out more of her discography, her first 10 albums are probably all good to choose from. Her music kept changing over that time but it’s all good. And tbh I think in general most of her albums would vibe well with Lana fans. Anything from the 80s and on are also really good (especially WTRF) but probably not necessary for new fans. I definitely second this. Also, For the Roses. Both those albums are the best for long drives.
  7. Omg that’s one of my favourite albums of hers. I’d definitely recommend though anything from Clouds, Ladies of the Canyon, or Blue. That was kind of her classic period. Good ones to start with would be Both Sides Now, Chelsea Morning, The Gallery, Woodstock, Willy, Rainy Day House, Carey, California, A Case of You. Those seem like easy winners to start with. And a few of my personal favourites are Cold Blue Steel and Sweet Fire, Trouble Child, and Harry’s House/Centerpiece.
  8. Tbh as much as I want to already have this album and I think it will be her best, I’m fine with waiting. Right now it sucks but in the future the wait won’t actually matter when looking back. I really wish we had some news but I trust there’s a reason for all this and the pay off will be worth it. I just can’t wait to hear Venice Bitch on vinyl or even the studio version of How to Disappear. But I have other Lana albums to listen to in the meantime and plenty of other great music to enjoy, so a few more months, or even into early 2020, is fine with me and when nfr comes out it’ll be like that dream I’ve been waiting for. If it takes longer than that though I’ll probably start worrying, but I’m not quite there yet.
  9. Now I’m even more convinced the NFR lead up is supposed to parallel AKA’s. I wonder why though. It didn’t really work with AKA did it, so it’s a strange thing to repeat unless it’s supposed to fail.
  10. Loving the song. Doin’ Time suits Lana’s vibe so well. I always find her cover songs really good matches for her. Also the song is perfect to sing to my cats (lol) and I love songs that work like that. I’m actually starting to hope she puts it on nfr in the end. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would based on the snippet.
  11. Hey are any of you other Lana fans also Joni fans? If there’s already a topic for this, I couldn’t find it so I’m sorry in advance. I love love love Joni Mitchell just as much as I love Lana. In fact, Lana always gave me a strong “modern Joni” vibes which is one of the things that drew me to her. The things I love about Lana are largely the same things I love about Joni so I’m hoping other people feel that too. I feel like Joni Mitchell is probably one of the few musical geniuses of the 20th century. Sometimes I can’t even put it into words, sorry. Her experimentation in her art is severely underrated. Everything about her music: her voice, her words, her instrumentation, were always just so breathtakingly beautiful. So any Joni fans out there? Or maybe I just converted a few of you? What are you favourite Joni albums? They’re all so different and beautiful in their own ways, so it’s hard for me to choose, but mine’s probably The Hissing of Summer Lawns. Anyone who hasn’t listened to that probably wouldn’t regret it, especially Lana fans. Anyway, I’d love to find other Lana fans who love Joni to talk to since they’re two of my favourites.
  12. I was more thinking maybe this time the label is getting over Lana OR that she could deliberately be doing this to parallel AKA’s release idk lol.
  13. Idk if I sound like a crackhead here with this wild ass theory but am I the only one who feels like the NFR lead up has been weirdly similar to the AKA one? Aka was recorded in 2008 and she released an ep of 3 songs from it in fall ‘08 and was supposed to release it early ‘09 but it was shelved and she was forced to put everything on hold and just live her life then it was finally released early 2010. Ok so we know nfr was recorded in 2018 and she gave us 2 songs in the fall (and another in Jan) and the album was supposed to be out at “the top of 2019” but we’ve had no news and Lana seems to just be living her life so idk I keep thinking the album will be out Jan 2020 to parallel completely whether deliberately (transitioning back to Lizzy? Leaving her label? Idk) or just a weird coincidence the universe set up or maybe I’m just connecting things that aren’t related lol. I first started thinking that when she was on her old twitter and said something about how over 10 years things have changed but haven’t changed at all. Thought I’d finally share my delusional theory with everyone. And yeah I know it’s all likely bullshit but I’m just having fun while I wait.
