  1. I wonder when she’s gonna put up the vinyl preorder.
  2. If anyone’s interested in Bob Dylan, his Rolling Thunder Revue is now on Netflix. I thought I’d post about it in here because there’s some footage of Joni jamming with everyone and teaching Bob to play her new song at the time (Coyote) and a bit of her talking about Ginsberg and stuff. I was surprised to see quite a few clips of her since she wasn’t on the tour very long. She joined that tour spontaneously just after releasing Summer Lawns (like the same month). She wrote the Hejira album on that tour. But in general any Lana fans would probably enjoy it because it is Bob Dylan and a group of travelling musicians and poets.
  3. This might be biased and more based on what I like best but there’s also plenty of obvious ones (no Big Yellow Taxi, sorry too obvious) -I Had a King -Both Sides Now -The Song About the Midway -Rainy Day House -Woodstock -A Case of You -Barangrill -Blonde in the Bleachers -Trouble Child -Down to You -Harry’s House/Centerpiece -Don’t Interrupt the Sorrow -Furry Sings the Blues -Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter -Jericho -The Wolf That Lives in Lindsey -Solid Love I tried to pick 1 (some 2) songs from her first 11 albums. I tried to avoid lots of the obvious ones but some like Both Sides Now and A Case of You are classics for a reason. It was very hard keeping the list short so I have more suggestions if you need them
  4. “Mom friends”? Wait so now we’re mad that some of her friends are moms? She’s in her 30s, of course she has some friends with kids. Get over it. Also, she’s always had “mom friends”, most were just older than her before. You guys are getting more and more illogical over time.
  5. Funny enough the follow up to that Beach Boys album was never finished and Brian Wilson’s mental health got really bad in the process and he took a back seat for the rest of the Beach Boys albums of the decade so hopefully this is not an NFR clue
  6. Yeah I always had this problem when I’d look for that modern artists similar to Lana. There are none. I usually compare her to Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks the most and even they’re pretty different from her (although definitely more similar than all the alt pop girls). But if there were lots of artists comparable to Lana, her art wouldn’t be so special.
  7. Omg did you just check out Summer Lawns????
  8. I’m so jealous! You’ll have so much fun! My husband and I were gonna see them this tour but then he didn’t want to anymore without Lindsey Buckingham but then the show near us was one of the cancelled ones anyway so I guess it was good we didn’t get tickets.
  9. I love Fleetwood Mac! They’re my favourite band ever. While I’m personally a HUGE Stevie Nicks fan (she’s literally my favourite singer ever), I also really like pre-BN Fleetwood Mac. My favourite album is Tusk but my favourite early album is Bare Trees. I still really need to see them live someday. They’re (in my opinion) one of the best live bands ever and I need to experience it myself. Anyway idk what else to say. My favourite Stevie song is Sisters of the Moon, my favourite Christine song is Oh Daddy and my favourite Lindsey song is I’m So Afraid. Also I know they’re both pre-FM but the legendary Christine Perfect album and Buckingham Nicks are absolutely beautiful.
  10. So last month when Taylor kept mentioning Lana, there was a theory that she was hinting at a Lana collab and I know it’s very unlikely and lots of people would hate that, but tbh I really really hope that crazy theory is true. After Lana, Taylor is my favourite contemporary artist and I honestly think they could rock a nice piano ballad together or something. Anyway, after people started posting about that psychic in the nfr thread, I started to think that prediction about her collabing with a very popular female HAD to be about Taylor and I’m delusional and believe it now because he was right about other things. Yes, I’m already wearing my clown make up permanently til both their albums drop.
  11. I love vinyl!! It’s my favourite way to listen to music and I’m an obsessive collector. (Too obsessive). If I get too into a band or artist, I also become an annoying completist and my bank account hates that. The biggest parts of my collection are probably the 60s, 70s, and 2010s. I have a little bit of everything, lots of rock and pop throughout the decades. I’d say nothing special, but it is special to me. I’m not really an audiophile at all though. I get lots of used records in pretty rough shape. As long as they don’t loop, it’s good in my eyes. Generally vinyl collectors scoff at that perspective, but I just love records. I even don’t mind surface noise, often it adds character. I just love holding a nice big album and looking at all the fine details of the packaging and that feeling of flipping over the record and dropping the needle. And I’ll admit I’m one of those bitches who just love the “aesthetic” of it all, not the sound quality. Whatever. I listen to records all day long when I’m home. Although I have a bad habit of listening to the same few artists’ albums over and over while most of my albums spend a lot of time in their bins.
  12. When Love + Fear first came out, I didn’t really have time to listen to it with my undivided attention, so I was waiting to have an opinion. I definitely think you need to be a certain state of mind for it, and if you are, it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s no Froot, but it’s a lot better than I initially thought. Spent a whole day listening to it over and over and it was such a rejuvenating experience. I didn’t really appreciate the subtleties of the sonics at first, but now I feel like no other sounds would suit it. In ways it reminds me a bit of The Sensual World by Kate Bush or Rhymes & Reasons by Carole King. It’s slowly becoming my second favourite Marina album.
  13. Whenever NFR does come out, I hope we get more long psychedelic epics. I keep feeling like In Your Car will be like that. Idk. She always leaves the best parts of the songs for the release so I can’t stop wondering what some of these snippets will turn into. And just the thought of a full studio version of How to Disappear makes me hold my heart. This album already speaks to me so deeply, I can’t wait to experience it all.
  14. I hope the poetry book comes out in the summer so I can bring it to the beach to read. And just the thought of opening the book for the first time and smelling the pages, ah it’ll be so lovely.
  15. Lana always struck me as a Cancer sun. And paired with a Leo moon... it makes so much sense. I’m glad she found out the time she was born. My whole life I “knew” my birth time too just for my mum to tell me a different time a few years back and I had to redo my birth chart.
  16. Why do you guys even care if anyone asks about the album? When they do ask, you don’t believe them anyway, so what’s the difference? Just something to whine about?
  17. I get being critical, but you guys are now just being full on assholes. You guys aren’t fans. You’re just a bunch of whiny babies who get tired of music too quickly and can’t handle someone you don’t know ignoring you. You’re bullies and I hope Lana never releases the album because you guys sure as hel don’t deserve it. I hope she posts snippets forever and you guys whine yourselves into an early grave. Stay pressed, us adults have lives to live.
  18. Yes, she chooses not to because she has free will and owes us nothing. You guys know she’s not obligated to tweet, right? Imagine some kids on the internet were telling you what and when to post online. It wouldn’t be fun anymore.
  19. If y’all are still crying about false promises from Lana Del Rey this far into her career, you’re a lost cause. Sorry but she’s been making false promises for a long time. And she is only one of many artists that do this. The ones with the most passion for their art seem to do this, probably out of excitement, but then take their time or move on. We’re lucky Lana shares so much of her process and art she’s working on with us, even if it means more false promises. Maybe that’s why she’s quieter now. Whenever she shares her process, you guys get mad at her for “teasing” you and “being unfair” like grow up and realize how lucky you are to get vague updates like that. Remember social media hasn’t been around forever. There was a time artists didn’t have social media to post updates to. Instead you’d just get silence. Real silence.
  20. Lana’s been promising shit way too soon ever since she’s come out. This isn’t new. Remember her constant “soon” over Tropico?
  21. You guys do realize it hasn’t even been 2 years since LFL yet, right? Sometimes reading this thread makes me wonder if y’all think it’s been like 10 years. When you guys grow up you’ll realize this wait isn’t bad at all.
  22. I don’t get the problem with Lana dancing or having dancers. It’s not like she’s dropped all emotion and is doing intense robotic dance routines. She’s just dancing a bit and having fun. Girl group choreo on the 60s was very simple and silly and fun and she was just doing that and having a good time. No she doesn’t need anything up on stage with her, but she wants it. I’d hate to see your reactions back when Bob Dylan first brought a band on stage lol. Everyone was like “oh he doesn’t NEED a band, he looks so silly, early Bob would never!” Let people have fun and enjoy their art. The passion and heart in the music is still there. Isn’t that what really matters?
  23. People’s Parties to The Same Situation is def one of my favourite transitions of all time. The Boho Dance to Harry’s House is another one of my favourites. In general Joni’s For The Roses, Court and Spark, and Hissing of Summer Lawns are some of the best albums for songs transitioning into each other. And I still need to see the birthday concert. At the time I was kind of disappointed there weren’t really experimental musicians doing tributes because Joni would’ve loved that but I still need to watch it eventually.
  24. If it makes it easier, Summer Lawns wasn’t considered beloved my the gp, so it’s definitely a treat. But if you don’t wanna run out of the best stuff so soon, take a detour into her 80s albums for a bit then take a step back to finish her best ones.
  25. Tbh releasing some of her best songs in her career then taking forever to release the album is actually wise from a streaming perspective. Her already released singles have almost a cult following around them and the streams keep getting higher. Once she releases her album, those streams transfer over. Maybe it’s a loophole to release music different from the mainstream. Take longer to get the streams higher so the record label is satisfied and lets her keep doing her own thing. Might not be her specific plan, but it could be a bonus for her.
