People here saying leaks don’t affect sales :toofunny:. In the streaming era, leaks are more damaging tbh. At least the first week. The initial rush to listen will be gone if it leaks too early as well as the conversation surrounding the album which is very bad. You want as much talk as possible during release week and not to splinter the buzz. Of course, a good album will have longevity regardless but the debut week will be sh*t.

The title track and A&W were her biggest Spotify debuts BACK TO BACK for a reason. Anything UNusual with these two releases???? None of them actually leaked a head of time. The song itself never leaked actaully.

i don't know i think some of u are weird and mean, so maybe i will log out. cause i was never disrespectful to anyone and i just don't like blue banisters very much and think the blm line in textbook is tone-deaf.

That's completely understandable. We all have different view points and tastes. I think a lot of people, myself included, are just very tired with the back and forth of the matter and the arguing over opinions that will never be agreed on, which applies to multiple people within the site. That applies especially to discussions that don't pertain to Ocean Boulevard (although I am aware that a lot of this disagreement has now been moved to the random conversation thread)

TBH i don’t think anyone is “shocked” but Lana actually never sang about her family like this until Chemtrails and a lot of artists literally don’t sing about their family at all. I think people just find that topic boring compared to her love/breakup songs. Like her relationship to patty is Interesting cause there is tension there but songs about loving her family can definitely be boring! Not saying Ocean Blvd is gonna be her writing about that, but that’s what people don’t really want and seem “scared of” when they hear there are lyrics like “Charlie stop smoking blah blah blah” 😭😭

I don't think you meant anything negative by this post, however, I really don't think the argument that she never sang about her family like this until Chemtrails is necessarily valid, and personally, I don't really think that the point makes sense. I have no issue with people not loving familial lyrics. That's totally fine because everyone has their own preferences and tastes, but don't pretend like you're making objective statements based on opinions. Also, when has Lana ever written a lyric like the one you gave an example of? The most she's ever done in the vein is mention Chuck by name in Blue Banisters, which she actually also does in Motel 6 as far as I know. It's nothing new and I really don't understand the weird aversion people have towards Lana's family.

Anyways, back to the album: I personally am really looking forward to the rest of this album's lyrical content. The two songs we've gotten so far are very powerful and strong lyrically. They manage to be this beautiful mix of metaphorical and blunt that just wows me every time. Lana proves time and time again that she is an incredible writer. I'm still not over the writing on the title track honestly. I'm just so excited to read the words to these songs and dissect them

  4. Fantano tends to focus on Lanas appearance and personality when reviewing her music as if that has anything to do with it (which it doesn’t), so I really don’t care what he thinks :true:

In terms of what I think the critical reception of this album as a whole is going to be, I really do think it’s going to be a mixed bag. This album is seemingly so diverse in terms of its sound that I wouldn’t be surprised if some critics don’t love it just because it’s not what they expect from her. But with Lana, I think it’s always best to expect the unexpected
