I am so glad I voted last week. Today, no matter what happens, is going to be a fucking mess -
Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, dies at 31
Super Movie replied to Elle's topic in World News
This whole situation has been so strange. I had, for some reason, been watching a bunch of One Direction video essays and relistening to their music. I was a huge 1D girl growing up. Over the past couple of months, my opinion had changed drastically, and I can't help but think of the women who have come forward about the abuse he inflicted upon them. It's genuinely just so shocking that all of this happened. It's been a struggle to balance acknowledging how fucked up and inexcusable his behavior was while also remembering the fact that he was a part of something that was so important to me when I was a young child. One Direction was my first fandom, and that experience really shaped me into becoming the person I am now (and how heavily involved I am now). I don't know. Either way, I truly just hope that people leave Liam's son, the other members of the band, his family and partner, and Maya Henry the fuck alone. Nobody asked for a paragraph in the Liam Payne thread but here we are -
I'm so fucking excited about this. I really like how Hayden goes about releasing projects, where we get these extra things in between the wait for the albums that are a part of the longer Preacher's Daughter album universe. It's gonna be so nice to hear Punish in HQ, and I can't wait to see what else is on this illusive project

If out of every song in Lana's discography, this one ends up being her first Grammy, I will cry laughing. It's definitely not a bad song, but it being her first Grammy with everything else she's released would be crazy

Me, an autistic Ethel and Lana fan walking into this thread

As a Lana fan, I am deeply confused. As someone who loves drama, however.... Her dress was pretty! That's all I think I have to say still because I don't really know how to collect my thoughts on all this (except fuck Trump and fuck transphobia. Never will Jeremey's support of that shit ever be excusable).

There are way too many performances this year I'm sorry They didn't announce half the damn awards during the show
-
Not surprised at all by Chappell's performance being so good. I lowkey got a little bit emotional because it is genuinely so refreshing to see a gay woman be so open about it and be such a big fucking star

That shot of Sabrina at the end of her performance with the astronauts is stunning

I think Shawn Mendes wants to be Jeff Buckley and it's not working He's on that stage singing Hater, You Should've Stayed Home
-
Literally because I know it's not goddamn Ridiculousness keeping them in business
-
I don't know why, but I've been a consistent VMA watcher since 2015 or 2016. Mainly tuning in for Chappell tonight though

Body Electric: "granddaughter pray, feeling alright" instead of "Grand Ole Opry, feeling alright" I thought that for the first two years I was listening to Lana

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Super Movie replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Happy 5th birthday NFR I cannot believe half a decade since this release. It was such a moment in Lana history, and listening to it in full for the first time is a memory I still look back on. My favorites are always gonna be The greatest, Venice Bitch, hope, HIAB, and Cinnamon Girl (side note: I think this album might be my favorite in terms of singles). This album is just so nostalgic and will always be important to me -

She also called AKA (or maybe just the Kill Kill EP) Hawaiian Glam Metal back in 2008. Hawaiian Glam I get for sure, but I've always been hung up on the metal part

Lana tapping into southern gothic sounds I used to pray for times like this

I will forever be grateful that Pretty When You Cry has become a mainstay on the setlist because it was made to be performed live
