Chemtrails Over the Country Club Merch & Media Drop
Thunder Revenant replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Thanks for posting! Sorry, but this is just a fucking joke. I mean yeah, it's a cute poster. But ... nobody needs this, especially if it is advertised as a special goodie that's coming with this version of the album. -

I would not be mad if it would not have been advertised for so prominetly. -

So ... minimal effort for the alternative artwork, literally the only change is the cover which is mismatched with the rest of the (already extremely underwhelming) standard design-packaging. And then they advertise it as "including an exclusive poster" which is a fuckin photo of her dump car? This deserves to flop. -

Can one of these showoffs just leak the poster? Goddamn manchildren Edit: just read on reddit that it's actually just a pic of the car. I HATE her. -
I always had them on my radar but never really dipped into their music. That changed early this year when I noticed they were promoting a new album. Since it was postponed twice by now, I had time to really suck up their back catalogue a bit. I really adore "If You Wait". The balance between dreamy moments like "Interlude" and epic, dramatic pieces like "Wasting My Young Years" is soooo perfect. It's incredible how coherent the album is, although the soundscape includes some pretty diverse elements, like the guitar-driven sound of "Flickers" or the trip-hop beats on "Stay Awake". My favourite track is "Nightcall", I totally love how this songs flows and evovles. "Truth is a beautiful Thing" is very well-crafted aswell, however I feel like I can't listen to it too aften. It has so much .... gravity. Songs like "Rooting For You" almost feel like an aria. And now I'm super excited for "Californian Soil", which seems to be the opposite of TIABT - much more pop-ish and easily accessible. I'm really into the layed back atmosphere of the title track and "Lose Your Head" is such a catchy tune. I love the way it kind of switches around between a playful and a very melodramatic vibe.

So not only is the package a low-effort disappointment, there is not even a nice poster. I really had it with her this era -

Imagine the poster being the cassette-exclusive artwork. Or a full-body-pic of Val -

That video is how this "era" and lack of promo, badly disguised as some sort of elusive mysteriousness has left me feeling.

Can she do something? Reade another single? This demo discussion is boring as hell

So the HMV version is a flop with only the frontcover being changed and the awkward CoCc-video still as the poster. She had all those nice Neil-pics but really wanted to make sure that the artwork would be subpar this time around -
Not the retirement-discussion again

I LOVE "The Archer" and the production is perfect af, but I think that's mainly because of Alexandra Savior's artistic vision. Looking at what San Cohen produced before, it's not like that "The Archer" is "his" signature style of production. Alexandra's first album was produced by Alex Turner and people were giving all the credits to him. But at least since "The Archer" it's pretty obvious that it's Alexandra who's responsible for the soundscapes she's creating. Talking about her, I think that a Lana-album produced b Zach Dawes would be a lot like Belladonna Of Sadness

True. I often find myself having a hard time "connecting" BTD/P with the rest of her discography. Of course there are still obvious parallels and of course this may be because I link that album-era to a personal age-related part of my life. However, I still feel like everything from UV on (including the mess that was LFL) is so different and it's pretty obvious she won't return to that exact sound/vibe anymore. Which is logical, since some of those songs were written/recorded when she was in her early twems and now she's entering her mid-30s. Only commercial-mainstream artists with a very hollow understanding of what making music means can go for so long without maturing in one way or another.
