Just because it's long does not mean it's good. Most long songs actually have an interesting sort of progression, VB just goes on and on without any kind of of development. They just add up this and that, another weird synth and some off-key "AaaaAAAAHhs", but there is nothing that really gives it an organic structure, nothing that "leads" the listener through VB. No interesting long guitar solo, no actual buil up, no transformation. The song just goes on and on and neither the instrumental nor her vocals would be anything more than "okay" even if it was shorter. I really love long tracks and I listen to a lot of artists whose repertoire includes 6 - 8 minute songs. But a song being long for the sake of it is just not it. And just cause "she did that" and because "other great artists did it" doesn't mean it's good. Long songs have to be well executed and VB just really fails at that point.

Gawd y'all have sone weird OCD problems. Then just don't listrn unil 2k21. Apart from that, her pretentious essay does not sound like the album will be out anytime soon

01. Fuck it I love you 02. California 03. The Greatest 04. Happiness Is A Butterfly 05. Norman F*cking Rockwell Those five songs are probably the ones that are "here to stay" as longterm evergreen-favourites in her official discography: The atmosphere of FIILY, the emotional rawness of California, the melodramatic grandeur of TG, the fragility of HIAB and the instant-classic-quality of NFR. 06. Bartender 07. Mariners Apartment Complex Two lowkey-favourites, I enjoy them alot, yet they aren't popping up as big time highlights when I think about NFR. However, both have hogh grower potential. Bartender is hitting suprisingly hard and MAC is one of those tracks that just keeps sticking with me, although I only considered it "okay" when it came out. 08. The Next Best American Record Kind of troubled about this one. The song's sound is awesome, yet the chorus' lyrics are terrible and to know that they used to be a bitter masterpiece does not help. 09. Doin' Time On the one hand this song completely breaks the flow of the album but it's really fun and the vocals are actually quite outstanding. 10. Hope Is A Dangerous Thing The vocas are stunning, the writing is ... interesting. It's just one of the songs you really need to be in the right mood to listen to. I think releasing it as a single ruined the track's momentum. 11. How To Disappear 12. Cinnamon Girl Both have solid quality, yet they aren't too exciting on the long run. Nice to listen to, yet not really spectacular IMO. 13. Venice Bitch 14. Love Song Venice Bitch is just soooo overrated. The vocal melody is boring, the vocals are meh and yeah, it's 10 minutes long but those 10 minutes aren't really worth much since nothing of interest happens. There are many longass tracks with spectacular instrumental solos, outros, spins and improvisations. But VB just goes on amd on and on without any obvious reason. Song could ve cut to like 6 minutes without much loss. LV's the opposite: it's short yet it feels super long cause it's boring as hell.

Being rude in nonmentions. Akasaka pathetic

Well maybe it's not mainstream-basic considering the current charts, that's true. But it's definitly not pushing any boundaries, it's neither innovative nor experimental and does not go beyond the depth of a Brtiney Spears song. If one likes this kind of music is a pure question of personal taste, but my point was that Charli - while probably not being the most striking artist out there - is giving her audience the kind of music they want while not trying to cheat with the "packaging" and that's why she gets good reviews. Marina on the other hand is taking herself waaaaaaaay too serious while constantly watering down her music with every album
-
Charli is basic and boring mainstream pop promoted as basic and boring mainstream pop for an audience that wants basic and boring mainstream pop. She is authentic and therefore gets good reviews
-
L+F was bad and she tries to pass it off as "not serious" as damage control after realizing she won't make funds with generic chart-rip-offs.
-
Wait for her boyfriend to ruin the production and take the soul out of it

Revisited NTMT today and WOW this album is so overproduced. Apart from the title track, which is pure perfection, each song is so hectic and noisy and almost every songintro makes you want to skip the track. The music is still good in the end but ... whew. I hope that after her tinkering on Masochism for 200 years, it will have a more ~balanced sound

CG is the first Allie record I can take serious as a smart altpop-album with the potential to age well. SS was fun but stupid, CX2 was cool but was sort of a short orgasm and both CX1 and Unsolved are kind of pointless by now

Lol how is it sexist to point out that someone who had plastic surgery is hardly a natural beauty? The only thing that's not fresh here is your reading comprehension
-
Sorry but Lana is far away from natural beauty even if the filters wear out
-
Lol as if it was that easy. If she really craves a family, that's more than just getting pregnant and having a baby.
-
Well it was hinted multiple times that their relationship may not be the best, however it also seems like Lana really wishes to be a mother herself (a desire that may possibly be fuelled by one of her friends giving birth lately), which may be the main drive behind those posts.
-
"Promoting small businesses" my ass. She's making ads for some shady esoteric mum-stores which make money off of peoples naivity. So many big artists stream a home-performance or sell merch in order to donate for health organisations or funds that help smaller artists. Lana is just not doing it cause she lives in her selfcentered rich white gurls bubble where noone is keeping the social distance anyway. Can't wait for the pretentious Quarantine-One-Take.
-
God you are trying really hard to misunderstand this. Just because someone is rich, white and priviledged does not mean the person has to automatically fulfill the clichees one could have about said demography.
-
Being something and acting the part are two different things. Noone doubts she is rich and priviledged but the way she tends to behave exactly like the clichee of the "woke" hollywood gurl is pretty unpleasant

Guys she is 34 and 49. She did the cringeworthy Bartender-video, where she displays the behaviour of a 13yo tictoc user. The only problem she has is that she's leaning into the rich-priviledged-american lifestyle way too much right now, singing halfassed "political" songs with the depth of a puddle and constantly doing cringy bs with her gUrLs. This is not about persona or race (lol), this is just her posting cringy shit on her insta while everyone waits for her to announce an release, which is fairly annoying.
-
It's not about whether she owes us anything. It's just annoying that she announced something in the most vague way ever and now she's going out of her way to post irrelevant, cringeworthy bs instead of clearing things up. Was the same in the pre-NFR era.

Sorry you are so offended about not getting hyper obvious references. Maybe you should keep on educating yourself and enlighten all of us BITCHES.Can't wait for you to come to the BtD-thread and inform us about the groundbreaking theory that the National Anthem video might be a reference to JFk.
