    Yung Lean

The best part of "Blinded" is when Yung Lean is silent.
  2. This is an interesting interview of Spooky Black. He talks about having two mothers, coming up with the name Spooky Black because his first album was devil rap, why he changed his name, being inspired by Keith Sweat, wanting to be alone all the time, and why he dresses in weird clothing. http://i-d.vice.com/en_gb/article/lose-yourself-in-the-sound-of-corbin
  3. Worth It is officially their new single. Here they are twerking to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmzXoqm_0QA

    Type Beats

I'll play. This isn't a type beat, but someone tried to pass it off as the Holy Grail leak before it was released. It's pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vaFyTnMQBY
  5. It sounds better without Charli.

    Charli XCX

The rapping from Ty Dolla $ign in "Drop That Kitty" is awful, but that was to be expected. Did they really only hire Charli to chant the pre-chorus? What was the purpose? The beat is simple, but sort of catchy.
  7. I like "Reflection" and "Top Down." I can't stand "Worth It" and "Suga Mama." The rumor is that "Worth It" is going to be the next single. It sounds like a "Talk Dirty" knockoff. Normani is an ebony goddess.
  8. I used to listen to a little FlyLeaf and No Doubt, and some songs by Paramore are okay. I like a couple of songs by Evanescence. I liked "Zombie" by The Cranberries, but that gets overplayed by the local rock station. When stuff gets overplayed on the radio, I usually don't feel the need to download it.
  9. I never got into the really hard stuff just alternative rock, grunge, nu metal, alternative metal, and a little industrial: Deftones, System of a Down, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Mudvayne, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Godsmack, Audioslave, Orgy, Tool, Static X, Three Days Grace, Cold, White Zombie and Rob Zombie, and a little Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Chevelle, Alice in Chains, and Rammstein. Yeah, I was into all of the mainstream stuff. The darkest song I have on my mp3 player is "Digging Up the Corpses" by DevilDriver. The hardest song would have to be "Death Blooms" by Mudvayne. This is the only female act on my rock playlist.
  10. Why? I guess I could have found a more recent picture. She always looks so goofy, so it's hard to find a good picture. Better? Normani only gets hotter. The other members are good looking, but they don't even come close to her face/body combination. She even looks good without makeup. Their debut album was a disappointment. I only purchased one song off of it. I was also disappointed with Charli XCX's Sucker, so I'm pretty much done with the mainstream pop girls for now. I've gone back to digging through indie music.

Why am I just discovering this group?

I predicted the Sesame Street direction months ago. Y'all are late.
  13. Have you heard his side project with Greaf, SurrenderDorothy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JTJsu0p8S8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSx_q-uYVfc
  14. I need to listen to more of his stuff. I meant to check out his SoundCloud along with Bobby Raps' after discovering Corbin aka Spooky Black. I just started listening to thestand4rd which has Corbin, Bobby Raps, and some others as members. https://soundcloud.com/thestand4rd
  15. If you like Yung Lean and Spooky Black, then you'll probably like Bones. He predates both of them and is credited for starting the whole low-quality music video movement. He's collaborated with those two, Gangsta Boo, and some lesser-known artists. Bones is around 19 or 20, lives in California, spent part of his childhood in Michigan, makes his music his garage, plans to never charge for his music, and financially depends on his brother. Listeners often compare his music to early Three Six Mafia due to the dark lyrical content. His lyrics aren't the deepest, but he's definitely a much better rapper than Yung Lean. He has a lot of albums. If you choose to only listen to one, I highly recommend PaidProgramming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahxWt_4cXec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuXNiSUzrHY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t-vHOp-Quw This is just a partial list of his other albums and mixtapes. You know you've made it when you're accused of being in the Illuminati.
  17. Now that he's blowing up, someone must have told him that his name is racist. I've come across black teenagers who don't know why his name sounds racist. I only know about the slur from watching historical movies. It hasn't been regularly used since the 1950s, but combining "spooky" with "black" still makes me suspicious.
  18. I'm waiting for him to address his name, but haven't seen any interviews of him. He just started performing live a couple of months ago. I was starting to think someone was singing for him, and this was all a joke.

    Yung Lean

His lyrics are intentionally garbage, so I can't tell if he's capable of writing anything good. He has one of the worst flows I have ever heard from a recording artist.

    Spooky Black

He's a 16 or 17 year old kid from Minnesota. He's often compared to the likes of Yung Lean and Lil' B because of his ridiculous image and lyrics, but he actually has some talent. At first, I didn't know what to make of his name (he also goes by Lil' Spook) with him being a white kid wearing a du-rag and Fubu. Spook is a racial slur for black people, but I figure he's just a kid who is ignorant about the potential negative connotations of his name. He sings a lot about suicide and heartbreak. His producers are dope, and I like how he doesn't sound like his balls haven't dropped. It's a nice change from having to listen to high-pitched singers like The Weeknd, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and almost every other mainstream r&b/pop singer of the past 10 years. His most popular song that got him noticed. His first album. His EP isn't as good as his first album, but still worth a listen.

    Yung Lean

He has no talent. I like three of his songs because of the beats. His producers are talented.

    Charli XCX

She's mentioned her Ugandan background several times before. In another interview, she said she will never visit Uganda again. I can understand her boycotting it in the present, but I hope she wasn't being literal because things could change in the future. If I were to avoid every country that treated people of African descent like animals in the past, I wouldn't have very many places to go.
  23. I just discovered this duo. The DJ Snake remix of "You Know You Like It" is dope.
