We randomly got onto the subject of political Lana songs over in the BB pre-release thread and I decided to actually make this thread to get to the bottom of things. For a quick reference I guess Looking for America, When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing, God Bless America - All the Beautiful Women In It... would be political songs (but why?) But surely there are others. For you, what constitutes a political song? What would a political Lana song be? Is Coachella - Woodstock in My Mind political? It references the nuclear missile crisis with North Korea but is also more about taking the time to appreciate what you have. But would you say it's still political? Text Book (from the upcoming album Blue Banisters) references the BLM protests but the song seems to be more biographical as opposed to solely political, but what do you think? I'm honestly curious now that we've been talking about This is dedicated to @daddyauerbach, @Style and @COCC for inspiring me

Hmmm, i guess it is kind of political with the BLM part but I would say it's more autobiographical, idk now it makes me think what constitutes a political song? Referencing current political/social events or actually exploring the concepts on a greater scale? Like LookingForAmerica is political cause it's about America and gun violence whereas TB seems more biographical with a reference to a political/cultural movement that was happening at the time..? Now I feel more inclined to make a political thread to figure this out

I actually cackled, jewels in the swimming pool is too much One of the things I'll say about Lana is that she definitely doesn't go as hard as she says she will, like even the title "Chemtrails over the country club" alludes to her talking about conspiracy theories and culty cliques, but instead we got an introspective of her running across the mid-west (she probably feels like her insta girl squad is a consciously delusional cult) We all joke about her LFL Coachella song being cringe but that's probably the most "political" song we'll ever get from her

Anyone think we'll get an album trailer when Arcadia drops? I tried to see if she posted the previous ones at a significant time but they seem to drop randomly? Maybe it'll go Arcadia (early Sept) > Trailer/Preorder (Late Sept) > Release Date (October)? She seems to have random fun with the trailers and I love seeing them (the LFL and NFR ones are definite stand outs) so I hope she keeps up with this trend
