Imo the melody is different in each of the choruses of Maddox and Clay. I think Clay used Maddox’s vibe and lyrics and adapted the melody to be more Lana-esque which is what Lana ultimately used edit: Maddox and Clay follow each other edit 2: at the start of his voice note, Clay says “I think melody would be something like..” so I guess that confirms that he took Maddox’s first version and tweaked it.

I’m actually disappointed that this is shaping more and more to be a Quavo song rather than Lana. It feels like Lasso is further away that way and I was hoping the song would give us some clues about the sound of the album. Also, Lana’s features that are not for her own albums are also not performing that well and more quickly forgotten (Stargirl aside). But I’m still excited for the song as it sounds like a bop
