Imo the melody is different in each of the choruses of Maddox and Clay. I think Clay used Maddox’s vibe and lyrics and adapted the melody to be more Lana-esque which is what Lana ultimately used edit: Maddox and Clay follow each other edit 2: at the start of his voice note, Clay says “I think melody would be something like..” so I guess that confirms that he took Maddox’s first version and tweaked it.
