  1. becuase the writers know that most of the teenagers today want that their fave shows feed them with liberal/feminist ideologies... I found it very cringe too.. They also mentioned feminism and patriarchy several other times... For almost 20 years it has been a show for girls, about girls and girl power and now all of a sudden it has to tell us it's feminist... no shit Totally agree. I said the same thing, Fate lacked the sense of friendship and togetherness that the original show put so much emphasis on. But I see that's how teenagers on TV are today - acting cold, distant and bitchy towards your friends makes you edgy and cool. I don't remember Winx girls being like that. As you can see from my opinion, a lot of the differences come down to how teenagers were like in 2005 vs how they are today. In original, Bloom was also an outcast at her hometown - remember the popular girl Mizi who was a real bitch and hated Bloom? Well, Bloom didn't give a crap about it and was like "whatever" and moved on with her life and never took it out on her parents. However, in Fate, they turned her into this complete depressed outcast with zero friends who hates her parents because of it. Bloom's parents are IMO characters that Fate ruined the most. Fianle spoiler:
  2. I've finished all of the episodes and I have to say it's good - I really enjoyed it. Yeah, it's not exactly the Winx we grew up with. But the new things they added, the new stroylines of Bloom's origin, the ancient magic, the burned ones, etc. As i said, it's a really good mix of something old and something new. Honestly, I didn't miss the removed characters so much. I only wish they were more of a group, it took them all 6 episodes to come together and kind of like each other. Stella did progress but I would have liked to see more. Bloom transormed at the end which means the ancient magic that allsows them to transform still exists. There's just so much going on. I feel like Bloom's story is still so unclear. Everyone was kind of lying too much and constantly switching between being good and bad lol. The ending really gave us so much material for potential stroylines for season 2. But I'm afraid this will be just added to the endless sea of Netflix's series that were created just to be out there for a while and then get forgotten.
  3. I just finished the first episode and I really liked it! There's a good mix of new things and similariites to the original cartoon. The show is definitelly going for the edgy Riverdale-like aestatics, but I don't really mind that. I like the girls; Bloom really has that new girl charm like the Bloom from season 1 of the show. One thing I dislike is how they portrayed her parents as evil because in the cartoon, they were the sweetest people always supporting her. And her stroyline of being a socially awkward edgy teen was meehhh... Bloom setting ther asses on fire was sad but kinda iconic. I love Terra and her quirky positive enegy and when she stood up to that bully I became a stan. I'm interested in the romance storyline with Terra and that guy she saved. Loved Aisha and how she helped Bloom and Musa seems ok. But Stella - what the hell was that. No resemblence to the cartoon character whatsoever. The original Stella is girly, fun, loud, exicted about everything but the one in Fate is just a straight up bitch. But maybe that's a good thing? Becuase there's a lot room for character development. Hopefuly she'll become a part of the group. The original Stella didn't give a fuck that she failed a year at Alfea, but this one is clearly mad about it. These are some of my thoughts for now, 5 more episodes to go!
  4. Summoning all the gays & girls of Lanaboards, the time has come for us to finally discuss… THE WINX CLUB. Netflix has just released a brand new show called Fate: The Winx Saga, which is basically a live-action remake of the famous girl power fantasy cartoon Winx Club. Yes, our favorite fairies are real people now! In six one hour episodes, Fate follows the life of fairies with magical powers who attend Alfea and fight evil as they navigate through love & friendship. I was very excited for this because Winx raised me up and turned me gay back in the late 2000s when waking up every morning to catch the newest episode was my reason to live. Sadly, when Nickelodeon took over the show around 2010, it lost all of its quality and depth and turned into this circus show for 5 year old children. That’s why Fate has been marketed as a young adult series, so I take it this is their attempt to draw back the older audiences who grew up with the original show. So, here’s the main cast: (from left to right: Stella, Terra, Bloom, Musa, Aisha) The main character Bloom is played by Abigail Cowen, whom you might recognize from Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Sadly, our girls Flora & Tecna got dropped out of the lineup (I guess budget cuts!!). Rip tho… However, this new girl Terra seems to be a fairy of nature (and she even says Flora is her cousin), so at least we got that. No sight of Tecna tho. Specialists are there too and will surely provide us with some romance storylines. As for the villains, there’s this girl Beatrix who’s said to resemble the original Trix witches. So, any fans of the original show out there? Are you planning to or did you check out Fate and what are your thoughts & feelings? Let’s gossip!

  9. I've been wanting to read Crice for so long because I read The Song of Achilles (by the same author) and LOVED IT. I'm curently reading "Becoming a Man: Half a Life Story" basically an autobiography of a gay man who was growing up in the 50s/60s and became a writer after graduating from Yale. Would totally recommend to all of you reading gays
  10. what was this mess lmao everyone I rooted for ended up in the losers group
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/29/world/europe/croatia-earthquake.html The earthquake was also felt in Austria, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Hungary and even Italy. Sending out support if there's any Lanaboards members from this area. I hope you are fine. I live in northern Croatia and it was horrifiyng - me and my family had to run out of the house, things were falling of shelves, it got us really scared. Thank God there wasn't any serious damage in my area. Sadly, the town of Petrinja (which was the epicentre) is pretty much ruined. Thousands of people left homeless and 7 found dead so far... We've been watching the news on TV the whole day and it literally all looks like there's a war going on or something. Please include Croatia in your prayers tonight. We won't be sleeping calmly, especially because this is the second bigger earthquake in the last 2 days.
  12. bless her poor soul, she hit the delete button on Americana Standards and Classics files so hard she broke her arm
  13. I hate that I have to use that scamming data-stealing website & its messenger because it's where I get my college info and stay in touch with my collegues. I'm permamently deleting that shit first thing when I graduate
  14. Yeah totally, it doesn't feel like the good old seasons anymore (it's the lack of drama for me lol!) but I sill love & enjoy the show, I mean the cast of S12 was very talened and they got some great moments - the rusical about Madonna for example which is my favorite thing they ever did on RPDR AGREED! I skipped the reunion and finale in S12... but hey at least we're getting the rest of the season regularly I hope
  15. Season 13 coming January 1st!! They released the Meet the queens and everything, I love the aestetics & theme of this season! The queens seem cool but I don't want to pick a favorite before I see them all in action. Apparetnly they're starting the season off with several lipsync battles, can't wait! Sooooo is anyone gonna be watching or will this thread remain dead

  17. Several guys who wanted to become actors or something came forward with stories of how Sherry catfished them by giving them a contact of some producer who then asked them to send explicit videos that were supposted to be audition tapes for some acting role. The producer, of course, didn't exist - it was Sherry Then she admitted it in her Facebook post and made it worse by blaming it on her bad mental health and lack of self love
  18. they're probably just going to air the season as it is and then ignore Scammy Pie in the finals. Even though I hope they at least remove her commentary. I think it's too late for them to re-edit the whole season anways I'm glad we get to witness that actions are being taken against sexual predators RPDR should do a better background check on their contestants. I recently saw videos of Nina West from last season inviting random hot guys from audience on stage during her shows so that she could lick their feet obviously for her own fetish pleasure and the guys weren't comfortable with that... (I know it's not the same but still gross and people with such issues shouldn't be an example of a LGBTQ people in the media) There were also some simmilar sexual assault allegations against Brita who was in the last week's episode...
  19. girl drag race's official account just stated that Sherry Pie, who was supposed to appear in the second episode, was disqualified because of catfising allegations this season started great and then turned into this
  20. i literally cannot pick a favorite because everyone was so good. Gigi seems interesting and i loved her lipsync performance - finally someting funny and fresh in a lipsync but of course the one doing all the splits and jumps had to win. i miss the lipsyncs that weren't all about gymastics
