She added Primadonna MV to Teen Idle. Pathetic as hell.

Interesting how there's Sex Yeah and Radioactive. Still don't understand why she included these in deluxe version.

Can anyone explain to me her sound/genre shifting decisions? I only listen to True Romance, which is one of my fav albums ever, and a little bit of Sucker, namely the titular track and Breaking Up. I enjoyed SuperLove and I knew right then that she might want to go mainstream, but it seems to me she abandoned this bubblegum-electropop sound whatsoever. I remember the fandom's hate towards her sophomore album, speculation that she 'does everything to irritate her previous fanbase,' and so on, but I get a feeling that now everyone's OK with that? I'm very curious, so if anyone wanted to write some words about it -- thanks in advance!

Born to Die - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
vrtvie replied to Beautiful Loser's topic in Post-Release Threads
As much as I enjoy the album, still coming back to it after so many years, I literally cannot stand the titular song, listening to it feels kind of embarrassing to me. Everything seems wrong with it, beginning with her voice and irritating background echos, ending with the music video. Anyone else? -
...which sounds similar to the rest of Electra Heart. And now they produced a track that sounds similar to the rest of Love + Fear, so yeah.

She used to be an indie artist with pop goals. Now she's becoming a pop artist with indie goals. Really hope it was her conscious decision to make this song sound like L+F and her new project will be completely different, as she stated once that her albums do sound and will sound differently.

Mon amour, je sais que tu m'aimes aussi Tu as besoin de moi, tu as besoin de moi dans ta vie Tu ne peux vivre sans moi Et je mourrais sans toi Je tuerais pour toi

I admire your patience, really.

Soft Universe is the most beautiful and bewitching song I heard in the last few years. I fell in love with this woman.
-
Seeing they are both gonna be on Coachella, they uploaded the pic nearly at the same time on insta and Lana captioned it 'i'm bringing my friends' or sth, they must be.

EH is so different to L+F. EH is focused on electronic and electropop, while L+F is... I don't even know how to classify it? That's what I don't like in this album -- this lack of consistency in sound. I don't even know an album that I like which is such a mix of different sounds. Orange Trees, Baby, Enjoy Your Life, and Karma sound so tropic, while True is the only track that is clubby. End of the Earth and Believe in Love are wonderful synthpop-like tunes, indeed masterpiece like production reminding me of Kurstin. So many instruments in BIL can be heard that this song is really magical to listen to. Then, we have Emotional Machine, again standing alone as the only electropop sounding track. There's Life is Strange with violins, lmao? And then the rest is either acapella or typical pop I guess? (Soft to Be Strong, Too Afraid, Handmade Heaven, You, Superstar, No More Suckers). Ugh, it is so tiring. At times I think it is good when albums are diverse in sound, but generally speaking, they are not getting that much of praise as the more consistent ones do, which one can fully immerse oneself in and feel the whole atmosphere. Notwithstanding what I wrote, I started to appreciate the album lately. I really love HH, EotE, and BiL. They're perfect as they are. Emotional Machine and To Be Human... nearly perfect. So much potential wasted. I don't know whether I should be more grateful for the fact they do exist, or feel bad for how poorly they were completed. Emotional Machine's chorus is amazing, and this track takes you somewhere, but the lyrics aren't deep at all. Same with To Be Human -- instruments when she sings about Greece -- wonderful, the whole idea of the song -- beautiful, but some parts of the lyrics make me cringe so hard I can't stand it. Soft to be Strong is not 'strong' in its statement, and cannot win with Buy the Stars or Fear & Loathing, but is still cute and there is some point in its simplicity. Superstar is catchy, I may be perhaps one of the few people who liked it right with the first listens, I really loved how she changed her voice in 'I'm afraid when the world's going dark,' but I don't feel tempation to listen to it again, so it grew old quite quickly I suppose, and I can see if someone deems it irritating because of how high her voice is in it. The rest of the album is either neutral/OK to say the least, or trash.

Stop freaking comparing her albums to one another. They're so different there's absolutely no use to. TFJ, EH, and FROOT revolve around vastly different topics and they have different sounds as well. What you can compare is complexity of her lyrics (considering the songs she did write on her own; still, the opinion shall be divided into their depth and their linguistic charm), and of the concepts.

FROOT: *is said to contain the best lyrics* also FROOT: do you really want me to write a feminist anthem? i'm happy cooking dinner in the kitchen for my husband yeaaah yeaaaaaah

I gotta say this song got me bored after 3 days. And I'm still not over Rings a Bell or Fresh Laundry. Lmao.
-
Someone really did forget about INHA on Spotify, no surprise.
-
I'm so in love with the final chorus.
-
Just admit that this album would've been hella better if it were produced by Nowels, Kurstin, or Howe, even Diamandis herself.
-
True and No More Suckers are kinda cute. Meh, but cute. True is at least danceable, while NMS is good for thinking about someone you hate, lol. Emotional Machine had so much potential and it's so wasted that it DOES deserve slander. I can't stand Life Is Strange, it sounds so pretentious. And Too Afraid seems the blandest song she has ever written? I feel like many songs were written to be beautiful and captivating ballads, but someone horribly screwed up the production. They're not touching at all. I mean LIS, STBS and TA. Jesus, what happened to a woman who wrote FORGET to help herself recover.
-
Now after three superb singles I hope I will not be disappointed with the whole product. Love everything so far.

She chaaaaaanged her miiiiiiind, yeah she has chaaaaanged her miiiind Been feeling like herself more than ever before, now she doesn't even know what she needs it for

I heard Cruel Rule is the name of a version that didn't leak, and the one that leaked was named Cruel. I know right? A timeless classic. One of the things that prove Electra Heart as a whole concept is still her magnum opus.
-
But they did not upload the full version. They just uploaded a snippet. That's why nobody saved it, because DG promised to upload the full version in a few days. I'm talking about the original version of Radioactive, electro/synthpop, kind of similar to Kurstin's works, not this eurodance garbage that was made for a different girl.

This is not what was posted on DiamondGarden and then deleted a few days later because they received a warning from Warner.

This and PDCM are so damn cute. How pleasurable to listen. Finally.
