    St. Vincent

A decent album. Amazed by all the singles, especially Pay Your Way in Pain, which is easily one of my favourite songs by her. However, as with St. Vincent discography, it turns out she always uses the best tracks as singles, and I was dumb thinking I'd find something as brilliant as them on the rest of the record. The other tracks are just good. I feel slightly disappointed because I really expected this album to become my favourite by her. To sum up; love the atmosphere, love the concept, love the consistency, but I am not impressed by none of the songs but the singles. They are not necessarily bad, but it's background music, so to say. I can imagine myself sitting in a retro bar and hearing At the Holiday Party or Down and Out Downtown, enjoying the noise, but focusing more on my conversation with a friend. Yes, Live in the Dream is very good, but with the crowd of other tracks so similar it seems bland. Maybe I had too big expectations for this album? Wish it had more psychedelia which I adore so much. I'll probably stay with Strange Mercy and Actor. Go give those babies a try if you haven't.

I find Ancient Dreams the weakest out of those three tracks because indeed it lacks melody variations. Almost nothing changes there, it's the same beat all the time and her voice doesn't change that much as well (probably it was never intended as a single). As a person who loves listening to songs on repeat, it makes me feel tired very easily. Anyway still I cannot believe how good Emotional Machine is. If only the whole M4 sounded like this.

The album cover similarity to Oops I Did It Again definitely is not coincidental.
  4. The fact that it's better than most on Chemtrails leaves me unbothered. I enjoyed the first three tracks from Chemtrails (Chemtrails and Jesus are splendid), the rest is pretty meh. Anyway I'll try listening again! But certainly not now; not feeling the rush. Unfortunately it's not love at first listen.
  5. what did i even listen to guess i'll give another try when an album drops. single cover quality = song quality, sorry

It's a good song, but rather Purge the Poison 2.0, I'm not that excited as others; strange. The lyrics are somewhat messy, not because of the content, but the technical details, such as grammar or DNA line which is too long, because of which the rhyme doesn't work that well. Anyway it's a bop. Waiting for a ballad though. the universe hangs like a necklace from god jewels suspended in the cosmos and it makes me believe this is how we're meant to be

I'm sorry but what's rude about her comments? That she doesn't use smiling emojis? Jesus Christ, we're on Lanaboards, Lana's been literally saying you little fuckers or go fuck yourself to people on socials or calling them hoes and bitches and no one's complaining.

I've noticed that. She used to be so positive during Love + Fear, so many emojis, excitement, long track explanations... now it's all kinda gone. I think she grew cold either after L+F hatred or her recent breakup with Jack. I just hope she's happy, no matter how her comments seem.

Y'all don't know I'm Not Hungry Anymore is not about love but about her career? It's basically another version of Gold. I know it CAN be interpreted as love-related though. She should('ve) released this song as a standalone Spotify single as promised, making it a deluxe track would make no sense.

She's literally doing it on purpose. She shows us how bad this album might've been and how it is not. A queen...

Primadonna does, yes! What I meant is that it's normal and common that a commercial sound might get tiring after a while, not that each one has to -- fighting someone for disliking commercial songs is thus just dumb. For HTBAH, I find her voice way catchier than the whole instrumental. Probably that's why I love listening to HTBAH x Toxic mashup. Highly recommend.

Girl, these two along with How to Bath and Primadonna are the most commercial sounding tracks on the album. It is normal they sound bad almost 10 years later just like does Katy Perry's discography to which Dr Luke tried making Marina sound alike. And Radioactive has amazing lyrics but this instrumental wasn't even made for her in the first place. It's just recycled by Stargate from a random girl, seriously.

Radioactive aged like milk. So did Lies.

That's not Marina's fault that the lyrics that Pussy Riot girl wrote are just bad. I liked the queer-queer part, however. Her voice is okay, Grimes vibes. Still, the remix is either completely unnecessary or a wasted opportunity, choose what you want. I feel like Marina's just pretending to like it, but who knows. If she's genuinely content with this rhymeless verse I'm speechless. Anyway, don't act as if Pablo feature was better -- it was not. And the voice was horrible. Whoever even finds Marina those collaborators? If that's you David... PS I imagined the lyrics would be "2011 when Putin was something something", and we got this, lol.

It's just her new manager who's crazy about remixes.

It's honestly so weird seeing such creative titles like Purge the Poison, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, Venus Fly Trap and I Love You but I Love Me More on the album right next to such basic ones like Flowers and Goodbye. I'm confused.
