    Halsey

I never really was into Halsey, enjoyed just two songs from hopeless fountain kingdom, tried getting into Badlands a few days ago but failed terribly. The new album is suprisingly interesting, however; a really decent record.

    Charli XCX

This song is supposed to be played over and over and that's why it is so rightfully short. Such tracks usually get easily popular, cf. Bubblegum Bitch or Venus Fly Trap, and i don't find it an issue at all.

I gave up and listened to Good Ones. It sounds nice, a promising record coming. Out Out is horrible though. Why is it even using the instrumental from that French song I don't know name of but apparently it's popular on TikTok now and how such a sound recycle could climb the charts?

Just heard the snippet from the ad. I need a catchy chorus like this. I'm so excited!

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

we're waiting for the full song. c'mon merna if you aren't gonna wait till february 2022 to boost the charts then why not release it now?

    Lorde

This is so interesting because I've chosen the same three songs and so many people seem to do the same. These must seriously be the only worthwhile tracks of the record it seems.

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

to me it sounds like a dream pop tune, something similar to music to watch boys to or saviour, not necessarily a ballad

    Lorde

This happens often when artists make a boring album but they needed to do release them personally. Same happened with Love + Fear that had the most basic sounds and straightforward lyrics in Marina's career but she felt she needed to release it and stated that writing 'easier' lyrics is a sign of happiness and the majority of the fandom was disappointed. She was so excited that she even said it was her best album ever and after everyone dragged her she had to repost tweets about feeling confident no matter what and that she had feelings too et cetera et cetera. The thing is, artists doing such a move have a right to do so but need to acknowledge that their fans might be annoyed and they need to decide if it's a risk they're willing to take. Lorde seems to have done so. Still, the album is pretentious and so cliche'd both thematically and sonically (it feels like a very long, long Venice Bitch) that it is almost ridiculous. However, when we're at this comparison with Marina, she still sang about things most people could find relatable; trying to find happiness, loving someone, being afraid of love, finding life strange, connecting with nature, vulnerability, and human emotions in general. Personal songs of Lorde's about smoking marijuana or saying no to the Californian stardom life is not something that an average listener is gonna relate to and without interesting or catchy sonical background it makes listening harder/worthless. I understand the decision to dedicate an album to healing in nature, but she could experiment more with the production and go more Bjork/iamamiwhoami route instead of another Jack Antonoff boring guitar-filled stuff. I have finished listening and I can say that I like Fallen Fruit and Mood Ring but that's it. Also the intro of The Path is cute. Had she released it in 2017 or so, perhaps it would've been groundbreaking.

Even a girl from New Zealand had to sing about California

seventeen is actually available on the US standard version of TFJ, unlike rootless. it is strange how savages is so popular though. i've actually seen it on her personal spotify top 5 in mid-2015 and maybe that's why she was thinking of making a MV to it

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

    I have counted scrobbles for most popular songs of Marina's discography on last.fm. I've joined data from both Marina and MATD pages, same with Hollywood single and album versions and other incorrectly spelled scrobbles. Maybe someone is interested to see the results. Not everyone has last.fm and uses it on a daily basis but I think it is a nice indicator of how popular each song is, especially because it includes all platforms and times before Spotify was even a thing. 1. *Primadonna - 5,9M ... 2. Bubblegum Bitch - 4,8M ... 3. *Oh No! - 4,04M 4. *How to be a Heartbreaker - 4,03M 5. *I Am Not a Robot - 3,9M ... 6. Teen Idle - 3,3M ... 7. *Froot - 3M ... 8. *Obsessions - 2,88M 9. *Hollywood - 2,85M 10. Lies - 2,83M ... 11. Are You Satisfied? - 2,72M ... 12. Homewrecker - 2,6M 13. *Mowgli's Road - 2,52M 14. *Radioactive - 2,43M 15. Starring Role - 2,37M 16. *Power & Control - 2,31M 17. *Shampain - 2,2M ... 18. *I'm a Ruin - 2M 19. Hermit the Frog - 1,97M 20. Girls - 1,82M 21. *Blue - 1,79M 22. The State of Dreaming - 1,73M 23. Valley of the Dolls - 1,66M 24. *Happy - 1,64M 25. Numb - 1,631M [*Baby (with Clean Bandit) - 1,626M] 26. The Outsider - 1,61M 27. *Man's World - 1,586M 28. Living Dead - 1,509M 29. Sex Yeah - 1,501M ... 30. Fear and Loathing - 1,389M 31. Savages - 1,383M 32. Hypocrates - 1,279M 33. Seventeen - 1,258M 34. Lonely Hearts Club - 1,247M 35. *Forget - 1,237M 36. *Purge the Poison - 1,222M 37. Guilty - 1,179M 38. Immortal - 1,164M 39. *Handmade Heaven - 1,147M 40. Rootless - 1,09M 41. Can't Pin Me Down - 1,04M 42. Buy the Stars - 1,01M 43. Better Than That - 983k 44. *Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land - 929,2k 45. *Venus Fly Trap - 910,4k 46. Solitaire - 893,4k 47. Gold - 818,9k 48. Orange Trees - 818,4k 49. *Superstar - 808,1k ... 50. Weeds - 772,2k 51. *To Be Human - 738,7k ... 52. *Karma - 605k 53. Enjoy Your Life - 513k 54. About Love (soundtrack) - 462,1k 55. End of the List Earth - 455k Surprising Bubblegum Bitch done much better than Heartbreaker. Surely TikTok has helped recently but on her old page (MATD) they both had 2,6M. Also weird to see Hollywood this low. Not only was it her second best-charting track but also apparently made some noise on TikTok too. Not so much it seems. Love + Fear flop.

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

Well she did aim to release Heartcore if I remember correctly. She's more certain of this re-release now though, especially after giving a description of Happy Loner full version, so maybe it's a different situation. And I think her new manager David is more encouraging too. Plus, she needs to boost the charts; it would be wisest to release it along with the vinyls. if she doesn't do that for a fan-favourite, her magnum opus, electra heart era full of unreleased and localised tracks she is either stupid or ignorant af

she only did so for tfj and froot didn't she?

    Lorde

Stoned at the Nail Station was boring as hell. Solar Power was not only boring and reminiscent of whatever Antonoff has been working on for the past few years but also as annoying as Orange Trees by Marina. I can even say Orange Trees is better than that, but I guess fandoms of Lorde's and Marina's differ so much that the one can actually bear the song and the other one (Marina's) can shit at her all over Twitter and make her have nightmares and emotional breakdowns. Mood Ring is enjoyable though. I like it. The mixing feels quite weird, however; it seems like a wasted potential for a hit.

    Charli XCX

I guess the thing is I'm not into cyberpop / PC music, it all seems too noisy and repetitive. I love True Romance though! A masterpiece. Sucker as a pop punk album had some interesting stuff too.

    Charli XCX

I never got into whatever she put after Sucker, but I'm excited for the project she's about to release. If it's her mainstream era, I hope she won't disappoint.

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

The singles are great and so is Highly Emotional People. It's a shame she dedicated half the record to her stupid ex-boyfriend. Had she gone deeper in the actual supposed theme of the album, it could've been her best.

Soap is her best song forever, but still, Cry Baby as an album is amazing. It's just strange hearing her other stuff that cannot top it at all. Also I find it unbelievable how basically each track on Cry Baby was made a hit that's certified Gold, even bonus tracks. Like what the heck. How. By the way, is there any particular reason why Piggyback isn't available on Spotify? Ik it was just a diss track but still, I really like it.
  23. I've just seen Venice Bitch is the highest-rated song of Lana's on rateyourmusic. Of course it's because for some weird reason NFR as an album and its tracks have got plenty of ratings, unlike the rest of her discography. I don't get it. Anyway, the thing is; people thinking Venice Bitch is Lana's best song are tone deaf. I said what I said.

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

I wouldn't expect anything more than those two tracks, maybe a remix or two if we're lucky lol.

    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

that's not exactly what i meant; she was clearly depressed at the time and as long as she should be able to do anything she wants, she needed help and it seems like she went through it on her own. sometimes it takes more than to simply say "yes girl do whatever you want (now gimme coins)" especially from a person responsible for your career AS WELL AS your wellbeing and taking happiness from your artistry. why was Jess fired in the first place, we probably will never know. but it's obvious that pregancy was not a reason whatsoever. anyway love to see TFJ getting recognition it's a classic that the world slept on. now i'm waiting for some lesser-known tracks (LIving Dead??? Sex Yeah??? the potential is there) from Electra or FROOT to go viral. tiktok c'me on
