My only thing that I don't like is that it's roughly an hour and 41 minutes long and wouldn't fit in a single disc that caps at 80 minutes (1 hour 12 minutes)

true but it also kinda functions as a mental movie soundtrack (at least that what it is for me) and that’s about a standard film length so it doesn’t bother me that it’s super long ?

UPDATE: play fine china - la who am i to love you - arcadia. it’s a spiritual experience.

no no that's really cool :ahh: imagine the power of playing Thunder - Breaking Up Slowly - Fine China - LA Who Am I To Love You - Afraid back to back though, just a recommendation!

i am actually tempted to add some violet interludes into this… but i actually just changed that track run to Chemtrails - Afraid - IDWG - Breaking Up Slowly - Thunder - Fine China - Arcadia to better reflect how the turn of events in how their fights led to him leaving her and her leaving back to LA. I think LA Who Am I to Love You would go really great between Fine China and Arcadia though ?

i attempted to rearrange the tracklists of chemtrails and the songs we have from blue banisters in order to make a more cohesive story and sound. i spent hours on it and i will definitely change it once the album is officially released. currently it’s:

    1. blue banisters
    2. text book
    3. tulsa jesus freak
    4. dark but just a game
    5. not all who wander are lost
    6. wildflower wildfire
    7. let me love you like a woman
    8. wild at heart
    9. yosemite
    10. chemtrails over the country club
    11. thunder
    12. afraid (if it had a rework)
    13. breaking up slowly
    14. fine china
    15. cherry blossom
    16. nectar of the gods
    17. i don’t wanna go (hypothetical rework)
    18. arcadia
    19. dealer
    20. dance till we die
    21. living legend
    22. for free
    23. white dress

its a story oriented playlist so i wonder if anyone can guess what the storyline i planned out for the track list was ?

i’m actually rearranging the back half of the track list right now cause i want the story to be more cohesive, but i will update y’all tomorrow on this ?

I love building my own story-oriented playlists so I'd really like to hear what's the storyline behind this!

well the main gist behind it is that the narrator (lana) goes back to their hometown looking for her father, but instead finds someone she used to know. an old flame, who reminds her of him in some ways (not all of them positive). she is sort of trying to escape LA by doing this, and not just the place, but the people and the environment. she knows that this guy has some issues, but since she last saw him, he seems to have found peace and some sort of faith in god. she decides to leave LA for good with him, but it turns out his faith isn’t in a god but in his vices such as alcohol, etc. (also, afraid is in the wrong place. it should go after breaking up slowly.) but anyway, after the events of fine china which i won’t detail here, she finds a newfound love for the people who actually do care about her, as well as LA which she realizes is her true home. by the end, she realizes that even if she didn’t have control in every aspect of her life, she is able to control  the energies that she chooses to surround herself, namely through her music. sorry if that’s super long and a stupid idea btw i just wanted a bit of fun haha.

    It’s about Dealer:oprah3:

Is it just me or beat is very R&B… and Miles voice reminds me of Childish Gambino’s (Redbone) almost??? I mean not the same but it is similar…:tommy:

now that you mention it, the instrumental does kind of have a vintage soul element to it similar to the likes of childish bambino’s awaken my love album as well as some of lanas favorite soul artists. it has that excruciatingly creepy undertone that’s present in songs like gambino’s terrified.

  7. as a writer myself, it makes me so happy to see Lana come into her own for this record. she was the main inspiration behind me getting into writing poetry and music, and while I feel like all her albums demonstrate just how talented she is as a writer, this record will no doubt hit close to home for me, as it feels like it will be her most california inspired album yet, but with a bigger emphasis on authenticity and a down to earth writing style that still feels poetic and true to her. it's why honeymoon is my favorite Lana album, as a native California girl. it feels like a love letter to the beauty as well as a critique on the seedy underbelly of the state. with arcadia, it feels like a love song to the west coast and the beauty of the mundanity found within it. with

    dealer

it feels like more of a lynchian surrealist commentary on the dark goings on behind the scenes, therefore the twin peaks vibe she goes for on this one makes total sense. soooo excited to see what other themes she explores so soon!

i wanna know who is dealer for? who was chasing lana? WHO HURT HER LIKE THAT??

in my honest opinion, i believe dealer might not be about an actual person, but rather whoever she is singing to represents a physical manifestation of something dark that was or is chasing her, that she's trying to avoid. it could be a person, but songs are subjective and that's my reading on it.

okay so i LIKE dealer a LOT and i know i will be listening to this NON STOP

that being said, i have NO idea what this song is about lmfao

to me, dealer is about running away from someone or something that’s trying to track you down. knowing that this person or entity is hunting lana through means of contacting people like her dealer, as well as her father, shows the lengths that the persecutor is willing to go. but it seems that lana has already gone far away with no intentions of being found. her dealer not picking up the phone, her father not being home in years, and her doctor not taking calls, could represent where lana ran to before deciding she didn’t want to be found by anyone. her father, doctor, and even her drug dealer couldn’t help her. so, she ran from the darkness. she gave whoever or whatever is tracking her down “all her money” but got nothing in return, so ‘what else could they want from me?’ is basically the question she asks with the song. she doesn’t wanna live because she’s tired of being hunted down and haunted by whatever this dark cloud from her past that permeates throughout her present life is. she’s trying to avoid it and trying to hide. that’s just my take on the song.

  10. theory: the reason there's a second leak of dealer with repeated lyrics is because someone wanted to pretend they had the full HQ version so they just replaced the part with the weird synth in the original leak with the first verse, as well as did something to make the beginning sound more fluid. it still doesn't sound HQ at all, so the "full HQ leak" in its title has to be a lie. idk, just some food for thought.
