Celeste has just released a new song called This Is Who I Am. The song is beautiful but what struck me is that the melody is exactly the same as the one from Twigs's Measure Of A Man. Not just the chorus or a verse but the whole song so that can't be a coincidence. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=UwIN9gIFsys&si=htjxstm8eXvpGECa There's no shared credited writer between both song nor any acknowledgment of a cover or an interpolation and no one seems to talk about it. Unless it's a rework of an old song that is legally cleared, I don't understand. Funnily both songs seem to be released as part of a soundtrack but I don't think that the movie/series associated with it are connected. Here is what Celeste had to say about This Is Who I Am : That statement is intriguing and my intepretation is that it might have been blocked legally by Measure of a man being released but she doesn't mention the song so I can't be sure. So what is the truth ?

It's not my favorite but I love it. I've actually seen her live for that album. I loved how for I follow Rivers she mixed the original version with the sound of that album and the dynamic of the infamous remix.

I actually like the outtake better than a lot of songs from that album but I totally get why it wasn't included as it sounds different than the rest of the album.

On the August 21 she changed the second verse's ending like that if I heard well : Like my memories, all my copyrights and these parasites, I don't need that Do you think it reveals more about what the song's about ? She seems to be addressing people owning music she wrote ? Those people might be the people wanting her to look sad because sadcore music from her is popular. Obviously the lyrics seem to be about about a man she was dating but maybe it's only metaphoric.

It's been two days and I'm finally able to put words onto this. It's been a long journey to get to see her as I've had countless opportunity that didn't come to fruition (canceled shows, the Olympia which was impossible to get tickets to,...). Until she arrived there I was still anxious something could happen again, and the delay didn't help. At the same time I was extremely exited for having a chance to finally see her because I've been a fan for so many years. When the music started, it felt really special and my excitement increased exponentially. When she walked on that stage, something really magical washed over me. Her aura is indescriptible. Her fragility is powerful. She has so much charisma and she is very caring of her fans. I had seen many videos before but I can tell you it's a completely different experience being there. She nailed the show. Her vocals were very emotional and precise. I love how she sings them differently than on the albums. The arrangements were spot on. The whole set was beautiful, really poetic and fitting to her art. I used to find the dancers pretty pointless but since 2023 they've gotten increasingly more interesting and fitting. From the point of view I had it actually worked perfectly (way better than it does in video form). The only time I tough they were not necessary and too distracting was during Video Games because I think the focus should be on Lana Singing and the interaction with the fans during that song. I have trouble explaining how emotional it was for me. I've been to countless concerts and been a fan of a few other artist before but I neever felt what I felt there during her show and now thinking about it. I guess the wait was worth it and that it's good that I haven''t seen her before, so I could see her at the top of her game. I completely agree with you. I had seen some 2023 performances but it didn't bother me that the setlist was not that much different because it's a completely different experience to see it for yourself. And there were actually quite a few changes from the very first performance. Seing how much work is put into this and all the people on that scene with her, I can't see her changing the setlist for every show. Tough I do get that people are bored with songs that have been on her setlist for many tours (like Cherry and Pretty when you cry) but it was the first time seing her perform these in person for me so I was happy she did them since they work really well with the dancers and the live band. I didn't understand that. I tough she was talking about the ex the song was about. Thanks for pointing that out.

Someone needs to record it. I'm seing Lana for the first time and I want to be able to see this historical moment again after that.

The bridge is everything, indded ! I don't know how I really feel about the song in general. Personnally I'm not that much about Quavo's Autotuned vocals but the vibe is cool. I found the talked part at the end kinda chessy and unnatural, especially when they lipsync it in the video. The song and video have Lana's stamp all over them, but still it's on Quavo's channels so I guess Lana is considered a guest unless the song end up on both artist's albums. Are they on the same label ?

The trailer video definitly gives country vibes. It's giving National Anthem vibes also. Lana del Rey american Queen. Quavo's name is put first on the single cover so it's not a Lana feat.Quavo situation.

So this is definitely country trap ! Lasso is still coming in one form or another. And you forgot about Arcadia and The trio interlude being back to back and being on the same music video. This is totally Lana to do that. We love her because she's so random and she won't apologies for it. The craziest thing about it is that all of those pairing did work somehow, don't ask me why.
