I feel it's pointless to compare cause every album was released at a different point of the revelation of their identities.

I think what made this project extremely magical was the intrigue behind the idea of "you don't need an identity/to be famous to create art" and ofc the clever idea of (which I'm not sure if it was premeditated or not) being associated with so many big names back then. People debating if it was xtina, or gaga, or goldfrapp, or bjork, etc etc was such good promo on its own.

bounty had that magic of them being completely and utterly unknown so that gave them boundless creative freedom.

kin came with all the expectations built after bounty+their identities revealed to some, so for me kin is their greatest work as of yet cause it had a LOT of pressure to be good, and it was not only good but incredible, having the songs follow one same unique dark electronic sound while every song still sounding incomparable to one another. In my opinion, it's the most cohesive of all the albums (not saying that's a good or bad thing) so as a body of work it's incredible.

BLUE had a lot of connection to the fans and kind of was a result of their direct support and input, and also it's hard to release a 3rd good album after 2 incredible albums+hype starting to die, identities fully revealed, etc.

KRONOLOGI was a really smart move, cause there wasn't any need of further work, it's a compilation of things that didn't fit here or there. I love artists who do these kind of releases, as I love artists who have their patreon where they release demos, unreleased and covers.
This album unfortunately is not having me head over heels yet, but I won't judge until the full thing has come out and I've fully took it in. Lyrically, all their albums are incredible. Musically, everyone will have their own preference. But there's no denying iamamiwhoami is a pure statement about making good art being fully in the hands of the artist.

Couldn't agree more !  It pretty much sums up what I think.

I do love the music from this new project so far though. It seems that visually, it's not going to work as a cohesive piece. The previous ones worked as some kind of movie with one global storytelling. Here we're getting some kind of music videos collection. It's still nice, just not as impressive and immersive.

  2. I saw the video on her official youtube and was like "WTF, is she promoting Miss Anthropocene again now ?"

Anyway, I always loved the song and the video is great yet very simple.

  3. This album is impressive. I love it. It's probably going to be one of my favorites.

Has anyone heard the Poems versions of King, Cassendra and My Love that are exclusives to Apple Music ? What do they sound like ?

I think it(Stargirl Interlude) is viral on TikTok right now. That is why it is so high. Usually I don’t think it’s even in her top 10.

I didn't know about this one trending. It happen to a lot of artist to have a random song being their most streamed because it is associated with something more successful. For exemple Feist's most streamed song is a B-side on a Twilight OST and not one of her songs that's actually well known. I supped the same happened to Lana.

I follow this account daily and it’s the first time Stargirl was number 1. Her most streamed songs change from season to season (Doin’ Time and Summertime Sadness are top 5 when summer comes back) and with TikTok (Brooklyn Baby stayed top 10 - I guess the GP discovered what we knew all along about that song :oop2: - The Other Woman and  Dealer got there because of the same platform). Honestly, she needs another summer hit to help her chart, whether with LDR9 or somewhere down the road.

I believe both summertime songs are pretty much in top 5 all year but yeah they do change spot according to seasons.

Stargirl Interlude was her most streamed song yesterday. It would be really cool if she worked with Labrinth on LDR9 or a future album. I think that sound fits her very well.

I would love for her to work with him again for LDR9 or any project. He's a great producer. Too bad that didn't happen for the Euphoria Soundtrack.

It kind of makes me sad if this chart is constant because that's mean Lana's most popular song is an interlude on someone else's album. I'm not surprised the weeknd's album is played more than Lana's most popular solo song but still.

I'm also always surprised to see Brooklyn Baby so high when it was just a promotional single. It's probably thanks to tiktok.

She just said she was shooting a music video on a pile of corpses on twitch.... :coffee:

You must be talking about the 3D bodies throne in the Shinigami Eyes video she mentioned here  :

Nothing as gross as it sounds.

I love this idea of topic. There are some really nice propositions.

    Music to fortify you :

Yeah I know, Spice Girls is my guilty pleasure. :oop:

Next : Music to watch boys to

(can't believe no one has done this one. And please don't say Lana's song of the same name:smile4:)

This is the best DIY style video for this era. I love it. Too bad it's that short but it's definitely intentionnal.

By the way, there a new one :

She's definitely going to do all the songs. I remember her saying early in her career that she wanted to make visual for all the music she put out.

I think she did that for all (or almost all) the songs from her 3 EPs but it's the first time she'll be doing it for an album length projet.

This is so different from what she's been doing but it does sound like some of her influences. I'm not sure I'm going to replay it but I love the unhingedness of it all. Maybe she'll do something more in this vein in the future.

they used to be engaged a long time ago. she's in a relationship with John Strandh (the guy who helps to direct all the visuals).

I didn't know about all of that. How do you guys know ?

"The never manifested the album." oh??? i didnt know that

im back from the dead and yes i will change...

sad we've waited for 6 years and they still havent released anything new yet since Flatline :xcry: hope they are still together and just delayed music projects because of the pandemic....

They recorded a lot of material during the MKS era but I think the release was cancelled for multiples reasons : the flop of Flatline, the legal battle to win back the Sugababes name, the leak of a lot of new material, personal strugles...

Apparently they are constantly working on new things but they are yet to release anything new.

I think they were supposed to tour for the re-release of their debut album for its 10 years. The re-release happened (apprently itoutperfored the original release)  but not the tour due to covid.

They are to headline Mighty Hoopla festival in 2022 tough.

By the way, thank you for updating the topic title and description. :kiss3:

On some bits, the replacement of MKS by Sugababes is a bit off because for exemple they didn't form in 2011 but reformed as MKS. What would you think of the following :

    Spoiler

Sugababes is an English girl group based in London. Formed in 1998, the group has been subject to multiples line up change. Formed in 1998, the group consists of Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena, and Keisha Buchanan. Each of them individually departed the group in 2001, 2005, and 2009, respectively. The original lineup reformed in 2011 as Mutya Keisha Siobhan until they legally won back the Sugababes brand.

he wasn't really "sparsely" collaborating at all - he produced and co-wrote most of the ionna stuff. the difference being it was just ionna's sole direction on what she wanted. iamamiwhoami is equal parts for both of them.

You're right ! I just checked the credits for ionnalee's 2 albums and he's not sparsely collaborating but still less  :

    • He did not contribute to any writing of the solo songs while he did on all the Iamamiwhoami ones (writing music but not lyrics tough)
    • He did only produce or co-produce few songs on Ionnalee (none on the first album), ionna did produce most of the rest on her own while on iamamiwhoami Claes did all the production (they do both on the new song)
    • He did contribute instruments and mixing in a lot of ionnalee songs (all on the first album)

So I guess we can conclude that the most definitive distinction between both project is that they write songs and make decisions together while everything begins with Jonna on the solo project. Also, I guess we can consider Iamamiwhoami as a fully audiovisual while on ionna it's not an obligation.

As Claes is still very present on the solo project and both being a continuation of the other, the distinction is not very clear. Plus the press often forget to mention Claes when talking about iamamiwhoami so that makes it even more confusing. :oprah2:

Band? She's a band now? :lmao:

Well iamamiwhoam is Jonna Lee and Claes Bjërklund. Jonna made work under the ionnalee moniker when Claes was only sparsely collaborating.

That's really the only difference between the two project as ionnalee was pretty much a continuation of iamamiwhoami. We all know Jonna is the mastermind of both project but Claes input is still important especially in term of production. She said that ionnalee allowed her to get more personnal without any compromise so it definitly means that Claes contribute to any decision they make as iamamiwhoami.

  13. It's here and it's beautiful :wowcry:

I'm obsessed. The song is on repeat for me.

I love how she let herself be emotional on this new chapter of the band. When Iamamiwhoami started, Johnna used to always sing in the high pitched voice to distinguish it from her performances from her previous solo work (and at first also not to be recognized). But now that she's been full circle with her solo work as Ionnalee that is a continuation from Iamamiwhoami, she allows herself to sing in her more natural voice.

To me it is as striking as first discovering Sever (oh this dreamy soundscape) but with more emotional songwriting and performance. I can't get over it. :hair: They are back and here to stay.

My god, they are back, and back with a visual album !

I guess Kronology and the lockdown concert were signs but I didn't really expect them to be back as a band for a completely new full project. For me it was just Ionnalee's legacy, the solo project being the continuation of the first one with sparse contribution by claes.

I can't wait to hear the first song and enjoy the proper rollout of all of it.

  15. The never manifested the album.

You can rename the topic Sugababes cause they won the name back.

They're supposed to release something sometimes but it's been 11 years that they reformed and they released only one single and one collaboration so we shouldn't be waiting for it to happen soon.

  16. Thanks for this thread. I absolutely adore his music.

Too bad he never got to release the album as he intended it to be. At least we can listen to the leak legally now.

He seems like such a perfectionist and a shy person. We might not hear new music soon.

It's crazy how he called Demos the only songs he released intentionally and still they influenced the whole scene.

someone on instagram asked her about it, she replied with 'enjoy the angels on earth' which would indicate that's the song title

it will most likely be on the album but who really knows, i hope it's a similar situation to 'life in the vivid dream'

Let's hope so. Thanks for the info.

  18. The intro and outro of Player of games is what makes it interesting and Grimes-y. :dua: The short streaming version is what makes it sound basic.:wtf2:

She better include the video version on the EP or album.

Has anyone made an edit without the sound effects of the video ?

Maybe the outro is another song tough. Any info on that ?

gurl i thought that yesterday but the itunes presave only shows 14 tracks for real. The Heaven Is Here interlude counts

Ok thanks for the information. 14 is pretty fine tough. There's no official tracklist on the page but now we know the position of the released songs :

    1. King

    9. Heaven is here
    11. My Love

So Heaven is not an intro after all. It's fine too. I'm sure it works in the tracklist :nails:
