  1. Not everything’s about Lana y’all. Why would he drag this song out of all songs? It’s nothing new, sure, but it’s objectivity not a bad song.
  2. I cannot remember how The Grants sounds at all despite listening to it multiple times yesterday. I.
  3. Also, unpopular opinion idk, I feel like the one-take vocals a la hope is a dangerous thing/White Dress suited those songs but the novelty of it wears off when she does it again and again and again. Examples: Blue Banisters, now The Grants. It just doesn’t pack the same punch. It doesn’t serve the lyrics. It actually does a disservice to Lana’s lyricism, because it makes the listening experience unpleasant. I’m always willing to be challenged as a listener, but there’s nothing new or innovative about unpolished, poorly mixed vocals. Tunnel and A&W you could tell she was meticulous with her vocal takes and actually wanted the song to sound good, not raw. With The Grants she goes for that raw unpolished sound, but it just doesn’t work for me. Ok bye 👋 still super excited for this album. Just sharing thoughts y’all.
  4. I’m whelmed by The Grants tbh. It just doesn’t feel grand enough to be an opener. Or new enough to warrant a place in Lana’s discog. I’m not worried for the album though, but it does suck to not like a Lana song. Idk. My title track ranking as of right now: 1. Born to Die 2. White Dress 3. Cruel World 4. Honeymoon 5. Love 6. NFR 7. Text Book 8. The Grants
  5. You’re right though. It’s more of an observational thing, but I get it.
  6. IJBOL. They pissed their pants when she threatened to pull put I’m laughing.
  7. Y’all… not everyone’s going to love every song. This song is definitely in the vein of Blue Banisters, maybe even moreso than the title track, so it makes sense that it’s divisive amongst fans. However, judging by what insiders have said, there’s something for everyone on this album. So pre-NFR truthers will be happy, the 3 ballad lovers will be happy, etc.
  8. She looks like she lost weight (not pro or against don’t come for me), very NFR era.
  9. I smell other people joining the Drew Erickson **** train yay. Jk, but let’s be real Jack is a way better producer.
  10. I wonder what the symbolism/intention is behind her letting the “forgotten” background singers start the album and end the title track. Much to think about ✨
  11. It’s interesting to see her still embrace Americana in her lyrics. Despite all the flack she got early on, she never strayed away from referencing classics in her songs. I like that her songs are still unmistakably LDR songs.
  12. “My pastor told me” Love how she sings that line.
