Lana's TikTok impact on songs going viral (Discussion)
Candy Necklace replied to americangothic's topic in Lana Thoughts
I’d say about 75% of the songs on that list were viral internally. Like Thunder, Sweet, California, and Violets for Roses- those songs only got small bumps in streams, some of them not even cracking 100k daily Spotify streams and have already gone back to their usual numbers. Compared to Chemtrails, Radio, Margaret, and Let the Light In that either cracked 1mil daily or got extremely close to doing it, and have maintained good daily streams. -

I think a big part of it has been the cultural shift post-2020. The culture in general right now is more “conservative” and Americana aesthetics are what’s in (Old Money, Country, etc.) compared to the mid-late 2010’s where the dominant culture seemed to be more “liberal” and colorful. Not saying Lana embodies conservative values (although after her marriage to that guy, who really knows) but a lot of her music really fits the atmosphere right now. Let the Light In & Margaret really emphasize this point because those are more simple, organic sounding songs, which sort of “lean” country. If this was 5 years ago, we would’ve seen Fishtail and Peppers pop off. -

I mean after being snubbed so many times I don’t blame her for not going all out on the campaigning for this when she’s so much more passionate about Wicked -

Ariana got three- pop dance recording, pop duo, and pop vocal album. She deserved at least one for WCBF which got none -

Ariana Grande was snubbed big time with We Can’t Be Friends for SOTY and ROTY. Let’s be real- Fortnite did not deserve those noms (other songs worthy off the album but not that one), it’s not the best song nor was it a huge hit to warrant the nomination in those categories. Eternal Sunshine also deserved AOTY but that category was stacked Also just realized WCBF didn’t even get pop solo nomination, that is actually crazy. The Grammys are becoming too predictable, we don’t need Beyoncé and Taylor Swift nominated for every single award.- 126 replies

Donald Trump & JD Vance Win 2024 US Presidential Election

The amount of times I read stuff like "If we're not getting laid what makes them think we're gonna vote to help them" made me sick -

I've been reading a lot on the subreddit r/GenZ and it's genuinely horrifying to read why young males voted for Trump. They keep bringing up the "Man vs Bear" thing that was all over social media this year and saying "how do you think it made us feel". They say they feel attacked by the left. Which to me, seems hypocritical because they're the party of "facts don't care about your feelings" calling liberals/democrats/leftists "snowflakes". I personally don't get it, but the Democrats are going to have to do a lot to appeal to this demographic, because it's going to be very hard to win without this demographic. -

I'm extra disappointed in my community as a Mexican male, how many of us went over to Trump like if he didn't run his 2016 campaign based off hate on Mexico is insane. I'm more at peace knowing my dad, brother, and myself voted for Kamala, but it's still so disheartening. I voted with my sister, my friends, my mother, my grandmother, everyone in mind. It shows how machismo is still very much a thing in our culture, and it's crazy that Mexico was able to have their first woman president before us. -
